Another newbie saying hello

Just discovered this site and wanted to say hello. It's interesting reading other people's stories so I will share a bit of why I am here! When I was in my late 20s/early 30s - and I'm not probably going to explain this well - I had a profound dream that basically felt like experiencing or being inside another person's consciousness. In addition, it was a different time in history, I was a different gender and very specific things were happening. I mean, we can be different people in our dreams all the time, and all kinds of things can happen, but this was different. Besides being historically vivid, it was a state of mind I've never experienced in this life. I mentioned it to a friend at work, and without batting an eye, he explained that it was a past life dream. I was skeptical, but he was insistent, even to the point that he didn’t understand why I wasn’t believing him. A few years later, I happened to randomly put television on PBS while some history show was on, and was stunned because they just happened to be describing *exactly* what was happening in my dream! So I did start to wonder. :) Since then, I've had a few other detailed, historical dreams. None as profound as the first - probably because of the state of mind I experienced in that one - but very definitely detailed, and I was aware of when and where I was, and what was happening.
To be honest, I still can't say I 100% believe in reincarnation, but I am open and fascinated enough to be here, and I do love learning in general.
Thanks for letting me share!

Welcome

Many are skeptical, especially those that were thought reincarnation doesn't exist, don't grow up with atleast a few memories or fill in whatever reason
The rule of thumb here is that a Past Life memory usually carry strong emotions, Deja Vu is actually also Past Life related as well

Memories of a Past Life come in many forms, same as memories from a current life do, through dreams, flashbacks, thoughts, emotions...
Also there's no one way to get a memory, some like me have them since childhood and add to the collection as time goes on, others like you get them later on

Memories can be triggered by stress, events, sounds, smells, reading or seeing something that you've experienced before, (self) regression is also a tool

Hi nice to meet you. I've believed in reincarnation since I first learned about it in middle school when learning about different religions. Sometimes I have doubts myself, but not very often.

Welcome to the forum River, I think that most of us question the experiences that lead us to the idea of reincarnation. As you experienced, there is just something about the happening that stands out that makes it different from ordinary dreams or imagination.

Thanks everyone, for your welcome! I was concerned about posting that I am not sure about it, so thanks for understanding! I guess I may be a natural skeptic, but it's more being along the same lines as Socrates with his 'all I know is that I don't know' (I'm sure I paraphrased this wrong, but that's the gist.) I do allow for the possibility to exist.

Thanks, that's just it, it was very different because it was like being in someone else's mind/consciousness. I found it interesting when a friend said it was a past life, and then very surprised when I saw a particular event and people in the dream being talked about on a PBS show. I felt like, yes, I was there and I know who those guys were and how I felt about them (or more, how this person I experienced felt about them.) The feeling of the dream really stayed with me for a long time.
Yes, it's the questions that lead us.

Interestingly saying that it was like being in someone else's conciousness, because most likely that was your consciousness in a different body. Current Quantum theory suggests that is what survives.

briski, I like that idea of consciousness in a different body. It throws up further questions of how we look at time. I don't know that much about quantum theory - does that mean the theory suggests time isn't linear?

From what i have researched time is linear here however when we are in the live between lives it no longer is. I dont subscribe to reincarnation to the past idea, as when people under regression it pretty much is normally in the past which suggests reincarnation only goes forward
