Why Does Life Exist

Lately I've found myself wondering why life even exist. There seems to be something good about life, but I can't quite figure out what it is. Sorry for asking such a complicated question sometimes I really think too much.

Do you mean why is there a physical plane? Or, why isn't everything just minerals? Or, why do humans exist? Maybe something else?

I mean why do we humans exist. Also why does life exist in general. There seems to be something about life that makes me happy, but I can't quite figure it out.

I believe that life is a more evolved form of materialization than the mineral, on the same scale: minerals, plants, animals, humans, ... The original essences, through this evolvement process, acquire, develop, perfect, then leave behind instinct, emotion, intellect, intuition, ... Those characteristics' developments overlap in some degree, and each materialization form works on the perfection of one of those characteristics. Humans, mostly mastered their instincts, are working on dealing with and mastering their emotions, are developing their intellects, and are just discovering their intuition.

Emotions and feelings aren't the same thing. Happiness is an emotion; joy is a feeling.

I'm not sure we're really meant to know why we're all here. Knowing the answer to that probably takes the fun and magic out of actually living and experiencing what it's like to be human.

Personally, the more I think about why anything exists and what it all means, the bleaker my outlook on life seems to get. Like a mini existential crisis or something

Perhaps we are here to learn and develop. And yeah there is something magical about life and maybe I should stop thinking about this.

Thousands of years ago a Greek Parmenides asked a similar question: "Why does all that exists, exist?"

I never understood his argumentation.

Therefore I accept what some hindus say: It's just a caprice of the Supreme Deity, who does it all to have fun.

And I'm serious about it. Somehow, I can't swallow the idea of us being here to learn and develop.

For the universe to evolve in a proper manner there must be life in all of its forms within the universe that evolves

Great philosophers cannot even really give an answer, so neither can I...
But why would we not exist? Nothing was taken and was created into something, for void is what precedes creation. And so the creation continues to create nothing into something. And so here we are, forms and souls that have been created from nothing and turned into something. And if we do not make something of our own lives, won't waste be created instead? Our existence cannot be turned back, only creation can be made. So we might as well make something beautiful and worth existing for, maybe that is a lesson, fun, or love.
But I would say that if this is true, existence and life is a miracle and so there is a reason to feel that it is beautiful.
Thank you for letting us ponder the question that cannot be answered.

I have yet to experience the joy of being a parent Jim but that isn't to say that I won't someday soon. In fact it would be kind of nice to at least have one kid of my own someday within the next few years. but right now I'm too busy trying to get started on my career. As for life coming out of nothing that might of been the case who knows but I also can't help but think that energy can't be created or destroyed. Since life is energy if that's the case then life has always existed in some form. However I think that's just a theory and don't know how true it is so who knows.

About this topic a few years ago I read a book telling this. It may sond puerile, but who knows...

The Creation (according to the Masters)

The Unmanifested is the generating essence of all life, He is infinite consciousness, He is unlimited intelligence, He is love, mercy, peace and happiness without limits. That essence is what we call God, Creator, Almighty, Absolute, Source of All Life, Universal Consciousness, etc. The Unmanifested Being is considered the FATHER-MOTHER of everything that exists and Creation is its manifestation. The Almighty contemplated himself and knowing that he was All that IS He wanted to experience Itself, because he knew his magnificence conceptually, but not experimentally. He decided to separate himself into a multitude of particles that would manifest themselves in many different forms, missions and purposes. He gave them free will and the same power He has to create. Being particles of His essence, they have all His faculties. Thus the Creation began: those sparks of His Consciousness created different dimensional planes, using the raw material coming from the Creator, the universal energy. His desire to experience Himself and to put all His power into practice, materializing the concepts contained in His essence, originated this process.
Following the laws He established for the perfect functioning of creation, the densification of His energy began vibrating at an increasingly low frequency until reaching the densest form that is physical matter. The physical world would serve as a habitat to the beings who would be willing to enter the Non-Being, since to experience our true Being we need to go through the illusion of what is not.

(this is just a fragment of that chapter).

Thank you for the response. I agree, "who knows". Yet, perhaps I was too vague (and I apologise if so) as really, I think that nothing can be a state or energy, perhaps technically making "nothing" something that we can only define as "nothing", I do not know. Still, unfortunately I think we can only find theories, and really it is a matter of preference as to which one is correct (though, I am certainly not saying that my own two in the morning philsophies are in any way, shape, or form superior, think of how many much more brilliant people have dedicated their lives to this topic).
Nevertheless, I think this is a very intriguing subject, so I hope you do not mind if I continue, as I was thinking about it today. And more directly with your orginal question (as I think my original answer does stray), I would earnestly answer that life exists merely because it exists. And because it exists, it cannot possibly not exist, it could not be any other way since this is the way that it is.
I also wondered if finding out why life exists really benefits us in anyway. It is an intriguing question as I said, but it does not change what is or what is going to be. Do people ask and meditate on it because they are bothered by uncertainty? Perhaps we do not know because we are supposed to "let go" and accept the uncertain.
Of course,I do not really know, but I appreciate your opinions, and commendations on beginning your career.

It could very well be that life exist just because it does and perhaps always has in some way. I was only pondering this question because I was kind of bored. When I'm bored my mind tends to wonder to questions like this. I don't know why other then curiosity.

I think people ask these questions for a lot of different reasons.

Simply gazing up at the night sky and considering the distances involved, whether there is an end to space, or whether it goes on forever, and our place on it, both our planet Earth and ourselves individually, can set in motion whole trains of thought. Curiosity is a very natural human characteristic, the asking of questions, wanting to know more is part of our nature.

Then there are times of crisis, when perhaps we are enduring prolonged suffering and hardship, sometimes we reach breaking point, something has to give. Asking questions at this time is also very natural, but it isn't just idle curiosity, but a desperate need to make sense of things before we can take even one more step.

The answers we come up with may be incomplete, and different for each of us, but somewhere within ourselves we surely have some sort of view of our place in all of this, or else we should simply come to a halt, is that not so? Or is it only me that thinks this way?

For me, such questions arise from my need, and will, to know what should I do, to find a purpose, my life's purpose. So, the important questions actually are: what am I supposed to do with this life? what are we, humans, supposed to do?

I believe that nobody can rationalize the answers, and that any rationalization is likely to lead us in error, because we have neither the data, nor the perspective, nor the mental capability. The only way to get a somewhat accurate glimpse of the answers is by turning toward inside, and getting in touch with our subconscious, or through our subconscious with a higher source of knowledge.

One could put his/her faith in one of the many religions, or schools of thought, but how to know which of them is at least decently right? The one you were born into? Maybe none ... I believe it's better to be wrong on your own, than following somebody else who's wrong.

So, I do what I think is right, not what others tell me is right.

When I was a child I was baptized Catholic though I barely practiced the religion. However in the past I had a few extrasensorial experiences that included visions and intuitions which right away or later on became true. In one of them, I had the vision, or more exactly a mixed vision/feeling/revelation, and I hope not to offend anyone, that all religions I heard of are a pale reflection of Reality at the other side. That if any, and not totally, it was Budhism the only one a bit closer to that Reality I was seeing or feeling. The curious thing is that I know nothing about this latter religion; I never studied it. My only interest has been about Zen sayings. Anyway, what I can say is that at the time I was receiving a flood of information/revelation that included the above mentioned.

Needless to say that I respect all religions, I consider all of them as different ways to reach the same goals.

Peace,

Tesso,

All religions and or spiritual paths at least on this planet are nothing more than tools for the human state of consciousness to try to understand the nature of the soul , god and the purpose of existences. I have found over the many years of living on this good old earth that it does not matter what path one chooses as soul must find a path that best suites it's spiritual state of consciousness or stage of spiritual evolution. Buddhism as I understand it is really not a religion as such but more of a philosophy and a way of viewing and understanding reality.

Most spiritual paths on this planet take the concept of god and try to pull it down to the human level of understanding. There is nothing wrong with this as we all have to start somewhere along the journey home. And most of us have already been there in past lifetimes. However over time as the soul evolves in spiritual consciousness it finds that we must lift ourselves from the human state of consciousness which deals with duality of reality of this world to the god state of consciousness which goes beyond the human senses and this physical universe. Many may call this cosmic consciousness or enlightenment. At this point we understand the purpose and reason why we are here. This is called a transcendental soul. A transcendental soul shows up on the planet as a buoyant, balanced being with easy access to higher centers and states of consciousness. These teaching of the transcendental soul, whether verbal, by example, or by leading in action, is centered on the greater connectivity of the universe. Souls like this have been known throughout human history, Jesus, Buddha, Ghandi, and Lao Tsu to name a few. There is always a small group of transcendental souls living on this planet at any given time during earth's history. And at some point and time we will all get there ourselves as we grow, learn and evolve as spiritual beings. At that point we will either cycle off the planet in the physical dimension all together and take residences in the higher dimensions on a permanent bases or come back as a transcendental teacher for this earth.

Great question and glad you asked.

Peace and love...

P.

Thank you, Polaris8.

I couldn't tell it better. It is a true blessing to find people with such a clarity of thought, completely in line with my beliefs and also with what I experienced.

Peace and love,

Peace,

I was also raised catholic, however while I still hold on to some of the beliefs I was brought up on my beliefs are currently closer to wicca. I too have had what I believe to be experiences of ESP. Usually its dreams later coming true, but I also get premonitions and feelings. This and learning about other religions in middle school led me to start believing in wicca and reincarnation.

Hi GalaxyDreamer90,

As I said I respect all religions. All beliefs too, of course. But just for the sake of curiosity, why did you choose wicca? Do you find it comfortable for you? Is it in your opinión the path to follow for a better spiritual development? If so why?

Anyway if you chose this path it is OK. Thank you for sharing.

As I am older I can't think of
incursions into (new for me) religions or beliefs. My only religion nowadays is to try to learn and evolve spiritually as much as I can. Time flies!

Peace,

I always had a fascination with magick even at a young age. I remember as a child watching the movie Matilda over and over wishing I had power like her. I don't know why I've always had this fascination. Though I do believe in magick and stuff like that it isn't really the most important thing in my life. I do have other interest believe it or not. Also I'm starting to think our beliefs are something to keep to ourselves as they often cause arguments.

Magic always is fascinating for most people, specially children. I think it has to do with our physical limitations.

As to your beliefs, I'd like to suggest you not to worry excessively about others' opinion. It is you, your personal choice and/or your own circumstances. Enjoy them!

Peace and love,

These are my thoughts on why life exists.. and I'm also a huge science nerd..

It's a property of nature that everything wants to get to it's lowest point or resting state of energy. Things fall down, springs unwind, air is let out of balloons, tires.. The easiest and most logical resting state for the universe, is to not even exist in the first place. The fact that it does, should be our first clue that it's here for a reason.

Life is simply, what we make of it. I think that's just too vague and perhaps a big concept for people to grasp, so we've invented all kinds of philosophies, superstitions and other things to find meaning in our lives and that's ok, honestly. If it brings someone comfort and meaning, it's ok.

I think everyone has this reality backwards in that we aren't trying to escape it, it's the whole reason we are here. We do have free will and as a consequence of that, stuff can happen. Bad things.. it's easy at this point to blame a creator / judge god of being bad or absent, but through reincarnation, we have the gift of everlasting life. The freedom to start over, to try again, to right our wrongs and evolve as people and spiritual beings.

But wait! Isn't everlasting life for over there? Sadly the answer is no. Over there, we're formless energy with no desires, no needs, no wants, no before, no after.. we just .. exist. We are here to experience linear time, to give ourselves a frame of reference that we can expand on. There's before, there's things we've already done and things that we want to try.. there's cause and effect.

Over there, there's nothing just what is, what was and what always will be.. that's not heaven, nor hell. It's simply a place of rest where we are free to meditate, to heal, to consult with others, to dream, to think, to envision and plan. It's all true what they say.. without loss we cannot know joy, without sorrow, we cannot know love.

Ultimately, the purpose of life is to get us to look inwards towards ourselves, to find out what we're made of and that can be a really scary thing to do. To loop around again, life is what you make out of it. And to quote Back to the Future 3, which sums it up nicely:

It means your future hasn't been written yet, no one's has. Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one.

I kinda like that theory that life is the Cosmos/Universe experiencing itself... because all that is can only experience through being incarnated.
