Question about simultaneous lives

Jaimie

Senior Member
Hi !

I have experienced a possible past life when I had a relationship with a man ( I was female ) that meant both love and suffering for us both. In some ways we worked very well together and in others the opposite.

In my own current life I did not know this until I one day met a young man ( I was young too ) who became interested in me in a romantic way. Then the flashbacks came and it got to be more and more of them. They were in detail. I could experience or just know something about the man from the potential past life.

The man from the potential past life turned out to be still alive ( but old ).

I have thought that perhaps the young man in my current life only reminded me of the man from the possible past life ( It was not only looks but personality traits and attitude towards me that were the same. ), but now I am not 100 % sure.

Could it be that they have the same soul ? Have a simultaneous life ?

In that potential past life it turned out that she ( or past-life-I ? ) met him around the same age that I was in when I met the young man.

A psychic told me of the vision of the future that I was with the young man and we were happy and had one child and I was expecting again ( In the potential past life we had one child too, I was pregnant again but sadly lost it ).

Please tell me what you think.

Thanks in advance :)

Jaimie,

Your question is clear to me, the situation is not.
Do you say that this person with whom you shared a life with is still alive today? So, you died halfway and reincarnated again, while your former partner is still alive?

Having a simultaneous life: I don't know. Who is able to answer that question? I would say you're simply attracted to the same type of guy? That happens a lot. ;)

I'm sorry I can understand that the situation is not clear. You see the man from the past life ( we can call him M ) was still alive when I figured out who he really was, but he was old then ( and have since died ).

In my experiences of the past life I died halfway as you wrote.

I was not mutually attracted to the young man in my current life because I was experiencing all those flashbacks of M. It had been a troubled relationship. I can't say he was my type then, but he was in my surrounding even if I did not date him. But I can fully understand if you thought that :)

I agree, no one can say if it was a simultaneous life or not. I have read of simultaneous lives and to tell the truth I find it confusing. One moment everyone's past lives is happening simultaneous and another it is about a soul splitting and it is rare and it is living in let's say 2 bodies at the same time ( can there be more ? ), I have not figured out the concept, if someone could clarify it to me it would be really appreciated :) .

Thanks :)

Hi again fireflydancing, I edited my original answer because when I look at it I had wandered off from the topic, sorry about that. Anyway just wanted to keep it more simple.

The first question is easy because you don't have to worry about that one. Things happening simultaneously is from a soul's Higher Selves perspective. To you and me right here, they always go in chronological order.

Soul splitting is more difficult. I first heard about that through the movie Little Buddha from Bertolucci.
Later on, I heard talking about multiple lives at the same time through channelings. In those cases, the lives are completely different between each other: different gender, different age, different cultures, and continent. Imagine: the 5-year-old child in Iran, the middle-aged woman in Australia, the retired blind professor in maths in Greenland: they are one and the same soul. They all take with them some percentage of the Great Soul and just start living without the chance of ever meeting.

Before answering such a complex possibility, I think we would first have to overcome a huge linguistic problem of defining words like: Soul. Higher Self and so on. I am absolutely sure that in all kind of conversations (also here on the board) different concepts have different meanings to each individual. You can't avoid that because of our capacity to understand concepts depend on our personal background history (personal religion, education, intelligence, level of maturity and/or spiritual growth).

And what about the so-called Twin Souls? ;) The popular belief says that at a moment of time (!) a soul decides to split into two and consequently both parts start searching for each other again. This time it is a romantically driven search although the spiritual significance shouldn't be overlooked.

Personally, I don't bother too much about this subject of soul splitting. Maybe it works like this, maybe it doesn't, maybe there are far more other explanations that are still unknown to us.

Thank you so much, it is very interesting :) and more clear to me now.

don't get me started on bertolucci..

I don't think soul splitting, as in having two ongoing and concurrent lives, is common. What I think it more common is to have a brief overlap with a previous life. I think for families that are intent on staying together, this is an item of necessity. People are living longer and if they want to be with their parents, who are ready to have children in their next lives, a small overlap is needed. I've never seen one longer than 10 years within my own family.

I think I was my own great grandfather and his life would have been simultaneous to my previous one. However, his life and mine now I think fall under the "split to speed up development" line of thinking, as it seems we're both working on the same issues in these lives.

And overlap may be possible, but if it's an ongoing, concurrent life, I would treat is the same as discovering a past life and also to maybe focus more on what it is you are trying to learn through both lives. I don't think it's something we would do for "fun", as then everyone would do it and that would crate chaos down here ha ha.

Hi Totoro ! Thank you for your reply.

I don't know if it is more common that family members are reborn as family members or if they can be married in another life, what the most common thing is, but maybe there has been no statistic over these experiences to know what came out as more common.

I have had one negative experience where I think a soul was my father in one past life and then in a future past life he was my husband. He had kept the bossy attitude ! I could tell from the 2 different scenes during meditation that it drove me crazy as his daughter and even more crazy as his wife. I had a psychic friend who was my friend in the past life when he was my husband and when she told me what she remembered about "me" and him she would mirror what I already knew his attitude towards me was like, but that she had no idea off, really because I had not told her. She was the one to tell me about reincarnation.

It is touching when I read of a case of sisters being killed and then reborn as twins to the same family, at least that was what the parents thought as the twins had some of their older sister's memories ( that they had never met ).

I am curious to know how long a body can function without a soul in it. I've read about a coma case and about people having their first memory late in life but that does not mean their soul was not in the body before, naturally. To me it is a bit of a frightening thought to meet and interact with a body with no soul in it, I don't know if that is even possible.

I always wondered, but always felt reluctant to ask you... :)
Now I know.

What...!? Friendly disbelief here.. I'm pretty open about things, you could have asked me! You've known me long enough :D

I haven't seen the whole film and I really don't know if I ever will.. I think that's just one of those things.. He took Puyi's diary verbatim, which was my first issue. My second is that he hired my brother as an "adviser" and he got so frustrated at being hired as a simple yes man, that he just walked out.

I think largely it was a project of ego for him and he wanted to put on an air of being respectful and accurate. To be fair, he hasn't done anything the Chinese media hasn't done way worse; but being the only introduction to us that the western world has had, it's disappointing. Puyi's diary is based on truth, but it isn't the whole truth either. For instance, Wenxiu (Puyi's second wife) was so unhappy, she tried to commit suicide three times. I don't think this was mentioned in the movie. She finally divorced him though and the diary blames her greedy family (saving face for Puyi) and most other sources blame me.

Everyone would be happy to know that in this life, Puyi doesn't care much about the whole thing other than how expensive it was, which actually is kind of sad in retrospect. But in all honesty, I felt really sad for Wenxiu, which is plainly written in the diary if anyone wants to read it and can cut through the propaganda. Nothing really conveys who we all are as people. I really need to buckle down and write my book about it, I've been planning on forever. I'm just irritated that anything for western people about us is racist and or a spectacle.

Sorry for thread jacking!

Jaimie, I would recommend reading the journey of souls books, by Micheal Newton. He's a hypnotherapist who regresses people to the time between lives. It covers a lot of what you're asking about. They're definitely worth reading!

It's perfectly alright : ) Thank you for the recommendation.

Soul splitting, I don't know. I tend not to believe in this. I consulted several mediums and none ever mentioned the possibility of simultaneous lives. When the readings of one overlapped with those of another medium time-wise, I would try to figure out who was right and who was wrong rather than envisage the possibility that PL could exist at the same time. There are surely elements from readings that could point to simultaneous lives that resonate with who I am today and seem credible (if one believes in PL). However, I remain overall skeptical (we CAN'T BE two or more persons at the same time, can we?) and while I am open to be convinced, I do not know what should happen for me to change my mind.

Hi Marc,

According to Dr. Michael Newton, simultaneous lives are sometimes undertaken by advanced souls. His books "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls" are available in audio versions at Youtube, and make good listening. (There may be some others as well--I haven't checked recently). Listening through his easily accessed books and reading some by Dr. Weiss were some of my first introductions to this field. Looking back after reading other authors, I still consider them to be some of the best.

There is always a question of who to trust in this field. However, Dr. Newton's name and research is almost universally cited (in my experience).

Cordially,
S&S

PS--I have never hesitated to affirm that one lifetime at a time is as much or more than I feel like I can handle, but who knows. After a few hundred more incarnations or so . . . .
PPS--Not everybody accepts this concept. I'm not totally convinced myself, but have come to consider it more likely than not.

One of the big problems with this is modern western thinking that applies limits to everything and being so closed off until anything outside the immediate systems of thought gets to where it can't be ignored any longer especially in matters like this be it uncomfortable truths. To me this comes as no surprise given that souls don't have physical limitations at all so having parallel incarnations should be expected even at different ages, cultures, and beyond etc even though unlikely to encounter each other unless part of the life script as discovered in some cases.
