How important are Past-Life possessions to you?

Eva1942

A Walking Enigma...
This is more or less just a curious thought.. How important are past life possessions to you? Like what I mean is, would you go out of your way to find things you owned in a past life?

I know of people who were in WWII Germany and still have a ‘need’ to own what they had. While I have no interest of owning anything I used to have in Germany, there are still things that are of sentimental value (I’d love to find a replica of my Mutti’s Menorah that I was so very fond of as a child  ) I’ve either planned to buy replicas of or trawled auction houses for the original items.

I seem to have this way of ‘acquiring’ things even if they are only copies or replicas when I least expect it or have no interest in owning yet I have them.

What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear them! :)

I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I'd love to have my Native American clothes again.

At one point, I had a dagger that meant a lot to me, although I'm not sure I'd want that one back. Until you asked that, it never even occurred to me.

Yes, I can sympathize with that. I miss my scarfs! I know it is ridiculous, but I can't help it. Even if I would not choose to wear a scarf around my head these days when going out. As Anna who was young in the 50's and past away in the 70's I would see her wear her scars. I have even dreamed of being back in Anna's surrounding to choose a scarf. I know it is a superficial thing. I should want pictures or something else, but scarf it is :) And oh, something else too. I had the most comfortable and nice looking pants in the 70's, they were just perfect. Again, very superficial of me, I know. Do you know, what I don't miss? My son's smoking in the car, (but I still miss him, tons and tons. Sorry, getting astray from the subject now).

My uniform jacket... I use to have one similar when I was younger. I tried to detach from it and I gave it to a friend who was willing to have it. I miss it for long time. A couple of years ago I found one similar, with the crest of my old Division. It´s not my jacket back in '44, but the sense of belonging that wearing that jacket generates is difficult to explain.

I'm not interested in obtaining any past life possessions because if they are still around, they now belong to someone else or are in a museum. But I would not mind seeing one and just being able to touch it to see if there's a sense of familiarity. From what I understand, remaining attached to physical things we owned at one time is not in our best interest.

There are a few items that I would like, potentially in replica form rather than original as they'd be more affordable. Little trinkets that I can gather and have in a little memory box.

I did manage to successfully bid on a Cross of Lorraine lapel pin, like that my past-life husband wore in his dress jacket. It sits in a box most of the time, however. I also managed to acquire two small Free French/Amis de Volontaires Francais charms, one of which I've taken to wearing on a necklace recently. It's quite petite, round, bears the Cross of Lorraine and A.V.F. over the French tricolour. The second, and one I don't wear so often, is the French flag.

I also, somewhat impulsively, purchased a 3D-printed model of a Remington 1858. It was, I told myself at the time of buying it, to get the feel of a gun in my hands, as I write stories (one of which being a western). And, I kind of want to buy models of the main characters' guns for a display piece. The story is somewhat special to me. But, when I first held the Remington model in my hand, I felt something else. Like it belonged there. The model doesn't have the weight of a real Remington, but the form just seemed to fit like a puzzle piece. It's become something of a bizarre comfort to me; I find myself longing to just hold it, when I'm feeling a certain stress or anxiety. As I'm still somewhat rooted in the WWII past-life, I've not researched my time in the Old West. But, it is another fascination I've had since childhood, and probably why I gravitate more toward Westerns than any other genre besides War and military.

But, ultimately, it is down to the individual. Some might long for a memento of a bygone time, while others might never want to see/touch anything from that life ever again.

That revolver being a foot long or more and weighing about three pounds would be something quite memorable I'd imagine.

As I am in the process of writing a western, I purchased an old book on gunfighters of the Old West. I'm unable, at the moment, to remember the name of it, but it's a classy looking tome from several decades ago. I flicked through and a few of the images caught my eye. Some of the gunfights, and the paintings of the old scenes. Then, I got to the firearms and weaponry pages. Revolvers and rifles. My eye was immediately caught by, if I'm remembering correctly, the Colt Navy. And, the 1860 Henry rifle. I have no interest in modern guns, however. Just the old 1850s-1860s models.

But, it was the feel of the replica's form in my hand. The ease with which I grasped it. If the true weight had been there, who knows, the memory might have been more profound.

If anything I would most likely want a specific picture from my second past life :/.I see it everywhere on Pinterest but having it in real life would feel like a relief almost.

While there is a picture of us both circulating around on many war forums and also Pinterest, I have a copy of the photograph. It always brings me such joy because it was taken at a very time in my lifetime. Even though it’s a copy and not the original, I still am very fond of it <3

I am working on obtaining a replica overcoat like what I had. Only for the purposes of re-enactment though.

Do you still have the similar jacket Tex? How does it feel in comparison to the original? Do you think that replicas hold the same energy or are just pieces of fabric sewen together.. *curious face*

Any particular scarves Li-La? I think we are often drawn back to fashions we wore in previous lifetimes. It was ladylike and proper unlike today. I have a few vintage style dresses in my wardrobe, but it never the same.

:D No way... There are not those jackets anymore... and there is no energy involved on this. It's just to have some thing tat makes you "feel" or "do not forget" something that was long time ago. 75 years ago in my case. I had a jacket very similar to that in the 80's. Now I have another, even if different. I think more than the jacket is some reference that it have from that by gone time. Its not the energy that bring the cloth... it is the energy that you generate when you remember.

:) I use to stick to one color to match the rest...so it could be white or reddish and so on, loved the material. Have similar type of hair these days as I did back then. If one had done it just right one did not wish for the wind or moister to mess it up, ha ha. Plus gloves to match the color (but I would go around with one glove on my hand holding the other glove so I really should just have dropped the glove-thing all together.it was not even cold outside). Think I was much more aware that everything would match before I got out the door, today I am less like that.

Starting when I was very young I told my family I did not understand why we did not have a piano at home. I have always had a sentiment with piano. My eyes would get teary eyed when only I heard the sound of it.

As I have done past life regressions or getting flashbacks I realize why piano is so important to me. What i experienced is that my dad in the 1920's played piano. Another life in the 1870's-80's-somewhere we had a piano at home. one of my most sentiment memories ( if it is now real that is ) is when I in that life had my young daughter at the piano, us learning to play together. I think she had very poor eye sight or was blind. I think she felt in control at the piano, it was a way for us to communicate. That same piano also held me up from falling down on the floor during a physical attack as it had my back.

So lot of sentiment and mix-emotions regarding piano.

My mom was very sweet and one day when I came home there was a piano in our living room ! Just for me ! I will never forget it :) She had arranged for it to arrive.

That is very true Tex. I think too, the cloth can help recover those memories. Whether that be for healing or not.

That is very much true Li-la. In my WWII lifetime, it seemed I did not leave the house without a a hat, gloves and handbag. Now in this lifetime, I will go out without sometimes my handbag and just take what I need. Very different.

Regarding hair styles, I still style my hair in 1940’s high class evening styles. I wear them high on my head. Like the hairstyle Antonette wears in this scene from an episode of Hogan’s Heroes. Wearing no glove on the hand used to shake hands with others was considered in make terms gentlemanly. Not sure about it for women though.

That is like me growing up in this lifetime. Did not understand why we did not have musical instruments in the house. Untill my father brought home a electronic keyboard to play. Still, it wasn’t untill I was in High School that I tried to play what I was really good at from my PL (Cello/Violin) but consciously I couldn’t work out to play.

I learned that perhaps in this lifetime instead of playing, I am to just enjoy the music.

Did you “know” how to play the piano or did it “feel” right for you?

Hi ! Yes, weird right before one understand about reincarnation...
Well maybe I was a strange kid because I would hear songs in my head that my family did not recognize, or friends. One day one of my friends dads had a piano and he was a musician. He knew one of my songs and started to play it, it was an old song, rare :) that was something because at that point I figured I had just made the music up somehow. Because he played it on the piano for me I got all weird inside ( I did not know about reincarnation then ). I would start playing the piano but my teacher said I had no patience, that I wanted to try out the difficult ones too early instead of being like a 2 year old, but me not having patience or little of it is regretfully one of my personality traits ha ha...but yes it was frustrating for me because I suppose a hidden part of me knew I used to play it very well in the past and now I could not do it the way I used to. I've always loved music :) my brother though, I never forget it, just sat himself at the piano and started to play like he had done it for years !! I was like: What ?! He was humble and said it was very much like playing the guitar and he knew how to play that, so...
