autism

I am currently reading Carol's book "Return from Heaven." It is very fascinating. I read about the physical illnesses or injuries from children's past lives showing up in the children's current lives as birth defects. I have a daughter who has autism and speaks very little. I am wondering how I could find out things about her past life to see if there is an issue that could be resolved to help her. I am doing things on a biological level, such as diet and therapy, but I am wondering if there is something that could be done spiritually to help her. I am new to the forum. Thanks, for any suggestions!

Welcome to the forum Kittygap,

Did you do a search on the forum for autism? Or disabilities? I vaguely remember there being a whole thread about it some time back.

I do not know anything about autism, but may I suggest that maybe you do a meditation -- formulating a question with regard to your daughters past lives? It is very possible to see the past lives of 'others.'

I'll go look and see if I can find the thread for you *S*S*S*S

Thank you for your reply, Deborah. Being new to the forum, I had not figured out how to search for a topic yet. Sorry for starting a topic that had already been brought up. Thanks for your insight and advice and linking me to the previous threads on the topic. I do think that one reason she chose me as her parent is that I needed to become a stronger and more spiritual person, which I feel that I already have become because of her. I do think that she is a gift to me as are my other children. She is wonderful the way she is but I want to do whatever it takes to make her life now the best it can be. Thanks!

Dear Kittygap,

Please don't feel bad that you started another thread on autism! It's fine -REALLY! The only reason I pointed you to the old threads, is that people come and go on the board and I wasn't sure anyone that is currently here was able to answer your question.

It's always OK to start a new thread..we just point people to old ones for reference and to spring board the conversation, that's all.

I am sure your daughter chose you...for LOVE.

I used to be a teacher and was always fascinated by autism. They say that autism is a failed attepmt at genius.
I read 2 fascinating books about a woman that was considered autistic and also well, not really cured herself but brought herself out of it and tried to explain what was going on in her mind etc.
I don`t have the books anymore but i bet if you do a search at amazon you would find them.Probably written about1990?
Good luck and I think you are right, your DD chose you! And remeber she chose this life for herself too...to learn!!

I think the books you may be speaking of may have been written by Temple Grandin. She is a very inspiring adult woman with autism. She has been able to deal with her autism and become a very successful woman in the cattle industry. My daughter's name is Haley and I just found out not that long ago that her name means "gifted", I did not know that when we named her but I somehow think that it fits her. I found the meanings of my sons' names too and they fit their personalities also. I wonder if they some how give us their names before they are born and that is what we name them. Thank you for your thoughts and the idea of autism being a failed attempt at genius makes sense since most of these people have some wonderful abilities. Thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy, nice name...;)

I just wanted to tell you that I am SO glad to hear that you truly just want what's best for your daughter and that you're not trying to change her. I have a cousin of mine who's autistic, and it seems like ever since I can remember, people have been trying to make her be different than who she is. She didn't come here on this earth to be someone else though, she just came to be herself. I really want to applaud you for this, and for just wanting your daughter to be the best that she can be.

Hope you're having a great day, much love, -Kathy.
