What seems foreign and fascinating to you?

We talk about what seems familiar and fascinating a lot, but what kind of personality or way of living seems completely foreign yet fascinating to you? To me high society and living in most countries, European/African/Asian does...I am not sure if my soul got around much, but I could be wrong and just don't really remember anything.

It seems to me a lot of what fascinates me is what is foreign to me now, and in this life, but is also somehow familiar in an "unscratchable itch" kind of way. Absolute foreignness, with no "hook" or sense of somehow "missing something" seems to slide by me with little to no interest.

Foreign, fascinating in a way, and extremely creepy... the Cyrillic alphabet!

Usually things that were familar to me in a past life I don´t feel them foreign now, they feel natural.

The Cryillic alphabet is Russian and a few other Eastern European countries. They have a different alphabet because they were never invaded by the Romans.

I've never understood the Japanese mentality. I just don't "get" anime ... I think the artwork is beautiful but their method of story-telling is so different than the Western model. Same with the Eskimos. I used to live in Alaska and they have a completely different esthetic. Totem poles are beautiful, but I have to say, I'd be hard pressed to tell which animal was what!

I feel the same about both :) )) Nice ideas.

Sometimes I think that deep down I WANT to experience a lot of pain in this life because it's something I don't fully understand from happy past lives. But I am changing that attitude; it's toxic. However I do think feeling pain gives us depth of character, yet we can only express that depth if we allow ourselves to be happy! I think I need to follow the middle path lol. Thinking about this is what inspired me to post this thread xD Like a mentally unhealthy person is given the opportunity to struggle to find happiness in such a beautiful way that just doesn't apply to everyone. That's the path I want to walk down. Appreciating every blessing may seem extreme, but to me it's "the middle path". :)

Probably East Asia. Seems like a complete mystery to me. I wouldn't say I find it "fascinating," but there are certainly some interesting aspects.

Also, our own world is a pretty foreign and fascinating place! It's incredible to see everything we have and are able to do. We live in a very exceptional time!

Sadly, no. I wish I could. It looks like it has something to say to me, but I can't "establish contact", know what I mean?

Yes, ido get that about sum places. It is a really good place to go if you ever get the chance. The whole place of angkor covers a large area. All feels really peacefull. You know cambodia was under french rule? Do you suppose it means something from then or from much earlier?

Cambodia, loas & vietnam are 3 very interesting countries, both history wise & the budhist religion. All are very different.

My coworker is from Cambodia. He told me a lot about the history of the region when he saw me looking at Angkor Wat on my computer.
