Please post them here so Steve and the vBulletin Techs can fix them. We are aware that some posts are blank, some avatars didn't merge over and the search engine isn't working. If you come across anything else please let us know.

Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience. In the end I think the new site will be worth the trouble. FYI your UCP (User Control Panel) is in your name in the upper right hand corner - a pop up window will appear if you click on it.

Hi Deborah There are missing posts on my thread "receiving information from a source" There were a number between the 8th of February and the 25th of February that are missing.. Those after that date are the latest posts The flow of what is happening is lost somewhat by those missing posts. I have notice on other threads that have had 100's of posts are also missing the last series of posts.. Are these lost or are they retrievable. Regards

Hi Deborah,

I sent a message regarding the same problem to you and Tang a few days ago. The messages don't show up under my sent messages, so the message system is also probably messing up.

In terms of what John has brought up, I have many posts that have been deleted (they merely show up as blanks). I have not tried to find them all, though I certainly can try to do so. I think one linking factor is that the posts that are gone were (to the best of my recall) fairly long posts. I suspect that the new site has a lower maximum character count and is deleting or failing to show posts that were on the old site that exceed the maximum allowed on the new site. I hope this is easy to correct. I have been using the site as a "journal" for a variety of reasons. So, the loss of these "journaling" posts (as well as a variety of others) would be fairly painful to me.

Cordially,

Hi Deborah, I guess I'll chime in here. I have PM'd you and contacted the SysAdmins about the fact that the first thread I posted here (I am a new member) is missing. The thread was entitled, "Lily's Past Life Memories". It was quite lengthy. As SeaAndSky has pointed out that may have contributed to the fact that it was not imported back into the new system.

If it cannot be resurrected, I can at least repost a copy of the original post, but I will be very sad that I have lost the replies to my post.

When you have everything figured out, please let me know whether or not I should repost my copy.

Thank you.

As I was posting that last comment, I observed that when you "Preview" your reply, paragraph breaks are taken out. It is very difficult to preview and proof a post when all the paragraphs run together. Fortunately, the paragraph breaks are reinserted during during the "Post Reply" part of the process.

Also IIRC, in the old system, we had quite a bit more space to compose replies in. If this space could be enlarged that would be great.

Thank you,

Malinda

Thank you all for reporting these issues. I'll let Steve know about this thread so he knows what to tell the techs....

Looks like hydrolad tried to log in and ended up posting as a guest.

Is allowing a guest to post going to continue being a thing?

S&S, I've noticed the same thing with long posts on the old forum not showing up here. Just checked one of my old threads that I know had posts that were so long they had to be split and the posts appear blank or with three little dots.

Mere Dreamer: That indeed may be the case, I know I first signed up as "hydrolad" because I saw "hydrolad" signed up in the upper right corner, but when I posted, the I.D. pane had me listed as "Guest".

I noticed this new vBulletin version counts characters in a post and not words. It was set at 10,000 - so I upped it to 20,000. Check the posts you say are blank or have ...... - did they come back? Are they there now? Or just some of them. Give me a link to where one blank post is if you can. That will help me locate the problem. coffee

Hi Deborah.. With the thread I started the last section of it disappeared, that included the posts the number of views I think around 200-300 were taken of the total. The whole thread came back to a date prior to the shutdown.. At a guess around ten days of interaction was lost, Its Murphy's law of course it was a significant that was lost because I cannot remember in any detail what was posted by others on the forum, because I had plenty going on at home at the time

Regards

Limited amount of characters: VERY frustrating!

I was trying to type out a long post about a possible PL experience from my childhood and when I went to upload it I got an Alert message. The worst part was it was blank, I couldn't even see what the problem was, but I suspect it has to do with character limit. Please fix so we can post stories and not "texts".

PS The typing window is also very small.

Something I have noticed and it may have only been when I come to the forum is .... since the upgrade the number of visitors to the forum are significantly down on what they were. What is plainly obvious is the amount of posts are well down.. Many appear to have lost interest since the upgrade. One of the reason's could be starting the threads from the beginning of them.. Its my opinion threads get more interesting as they go on, and if I want to look back and look at the history of the thread then that's what I do..

I have some missing posts too. I posted them the weekend before the upgrade. They were in the Past Life Memories discussion, under the Memory Triggers topic. I know I had at least two posts, one of which thoroughly explained a dream I had about a battle scene from a war when I was a little girl. Sea and Sky had answered, as did argonne1918, and ZeonChar. My posts and their replies are all missing.

I discovered that to reach the most recent posts, I have to click the tiny double arrow next to the name of the person who posted most recently.

It's not intuitive. I spent several days trying to figure out how to quickly reach the "last page" since each thread progresses through the numbers one at a time and forces each page to load before I can advance to the next. Is there a "last page" button option for the multi-page threads, by any chance? That would solve the problem for most of us, I think.

Yes, having problems with the new site. I had certain posts bookmarked in my browser and now am unable to link to them. Also, when I enter key words/titles connected to those old stories in the search area the new program is unable to find the posts. Can anyone help out?

We've got vbulletin techs looking into what you are all posting here. Keep them coming🙄 We need the know. Hi curious girl !!!! If you have an iPhone they work too🌟😊😎ðŸ·ðŸ˜‡. But I'll add more soon.

Hi Deborah,

I'm still seeing lots of blanks where there used to be posts. I think the character count needs to go up quite a bit to reach the level at the old site.

Cordially.

I am trying things the vBulletin tech support boards says to try. But nothing is working. I don't have an update yet from Steve, but I will keep you posted.

Something I just noticed, the discussion areas only have a history going back 20 pages of threads, which seems to take things back to arrive 2012. That's as far back as I seem to be able to go, any threads pre-2012 (roughly, it seems to depend on the discussion area - for the busy 'Past Life Memories' section it is just back to 2015!) just don't seem to be there. Hope they haven't been lost...

Edit: so some older threads are still there. Using the 'Jasmine and her Camel' thread as a test, going back through the pages in the discussion area doesn't work, the 20 -page limit runs out before you get back to 2009. But, if you go through the user profile of the OP (in this case Angelcat) you can find the thread. Might be worth seeing if the page limit can be increased or the page limit removed (if possible) so that older threads can be more easily accessed.

Carol and I are very upset that you're all having all these problems. Please be patient. We're doing what we can to fix them. We're waiting for the vbulletin people to help us with the more serious problems--like the missing posts. If we have to, we'll go back to the old platform

These specific problem posts do help us diagnose the problems. The more specific the better.

Steve

The error message I get when trying to access posts through old bookmarks is "404 Not Found [next line] nginx/1.8.1". May that will help.

I am noticing that some replies to my posts are empty, missing. Example is my 18 dyn. Egyptian life post. At least one reply is blank. There are a bunch of posts, in general that are missing. Some on the List of Past lives post. Others elsewhere. Also the origional format of the post seems to be skewed as well. Some stuff that is suppose in bold, didn't transfer over that way. Commas, out of place, etc.

Another issue I see is the fact that many old threads from, for example, 1999, are missing from the forums and can only be found by searching for keywords.

PS Also when I use Google to find threads I get a 404 Not Found error when I click the link.

Thanks for checking things out. When I click to Forum Issues it sends me back to the beginning page. Also the program tells me I am not allowed to see who is online at the moment...? Am I doing something wrong? :(

Greetings from The Netherlands...

Yes..it's there Aelfgya - My PM isn't working. I have alerted the tech. Found a huge problem with PM. I cannot send any because it states I have 3,987 PM's. I have to go in and delete each one. Since I am the "welcome to the forum person" it shows I have sent to all new members. I have deleted over two hundred yet the pages still show 168. YIKES 'll be here all day deleting PM's in order to send some. I never saved these on the old forum.

Just checked the thread here to see if there is any change/improvement:

I don’t think so.The posts I noted as still being blank are: 4, 5, 16, 17, 25, 26, 28, 29, 60, 62, 65, 75, 77, and 78.Interestingly, all are mine.I also continue to assume that they were longer posts and bumped by the new system for being too long.

The head vBulletin techs are still looking into the problem. The forum is in the "cloud" now so it's more difficult I guess to diagnos.
