New Orleans during the Civil War

When I was 16, I had a dream that stood out in my mind. I still remember it. I was on a white plantation with a black balcony and I was whistling down below at a NORTHERN soldier who was going wild when he saw me whistle. I felt like I was a failed actress of the stage but nobody famous. My friend and I were wearing expensive clothing which I felt like did not belong to us and was too fancy and too oversized for us. The plantation had been taken over by a whole bunch of us hooligans, and people were gambling and drinking with no sign of the family it belonged to. I remember there were no other buildings but there were lots of oak trees surrounding the property as well as a pink magnolia tree. I can still remember the sweet smell even though at the time I had no idea what a magnolia tree was or looked like. I just thought the tree was beautiful. I knew I was in NOLA and at the time at 16, I had never traveled to NOLA.

Fast forward to present time where I delved more deeply into this life and found some more answers.

I found out the Northern army had overtaken the south. And the family the plantation belonged to had been killed. I knew the fancy dresses didnt belong to us as they were too big for me and my girlfriend who was working with me. I felt like the dresses belonged to an older larger woman. Turns out it belonged to the Lady of the HOuse. We had some guilt as if the lady's ghost might punish us for stealing a dead womans clothing. I learned that she had forgiven us and felt sorry for us since we had been brought in to "entertain" the Northern troops.

In that lifetime I had been born to a seamstress, a dress maker. She had taken one look at me and told me that the seamstress profession was not for someone as wild and lacking in patience as myself. So my mother the seamstress in that life had gotten me a job on a Riverboat as a cigarette girl. In this life, sewing apart from home ec in middle school bores me a lot. I just dont understand the joy of it when people can just buy clothing.

Strange thing is in this life, although I dont gamble, I enjoy the atmosphere of riverboats and casinos. I love the bright lights, the sounds, etc. It makes me feel energized. I always feel like I would meet some high stakes poker player on a riverboat and fall in love.

Even though I'm a different person in this life. Theres no scandalousness in this life, I have a proper job working in Finance, I feel I have certain characteristics as my PL self. My mannerisms, the way I talk slowly with my hands a lot, the way I stand, etc. I feel a lot of people I come across in my current city I live in, are people who might have been admirers of mine from the past.

Does any one else remember New Orleans during the Civil War?

Thank You for sharing. A very interesting memory (dream). I have memories of the Civil War, but ot New Orleans.

Hi, DiscoKitten! Great name, I enjoyed reading your post. What did your clothing look like in that life memory? I too was an entertaining girl during the Civil War, but in Illinois. During a regression I saw a red and black patterned velvety dress, high neck and full skirt. Apparently I worked a train station, as I saw a steam locomotive. And I was Native American, so not a high class working girl. I'm very interested to hear what you may have felt that you learned from that memory, and if you have had more memories from that time?

Hi Barblynn! In that life I was wearing a pink dress similar to this . However the dress had more layers in the skirt and the skirt was more hooped and bigger. The shoulders were more exposed. My hair was brown and in ringlets.

Dress was similar to this but a different shade of pink - more of a lavender pink.

My hair was similar.

I dont have too many other memories. I feel I had French and Spanish ancestry in that life. I feel in that life my purpose was survival mixed with making the most of what life had to throw at me. Times got tough. I had to be a working girl, but I still had an optimism about life that kept me going. Regardless of what was happening around me, I was trying to stay upbeat, adventurous, and making the most out of life. I think thats where I get my sense of adventure from in this life. I'm always to make the most of life.
