Question about Reincarnation and the Spirit World

hippiemade

New Member
I have always had a strong belief in both the spirit world and reincarnation.
I am hoping not to embarrass myself straight away on this forum, but I want to ask a question about something I have always wondered about.
My father passed away about 8 years ago, and shortly after his passing several other life changing things happened, all of which came out fine. Without going into great detail, I know my father stepped in to act as a " Guardian Angel" so to speak.
Both my mother and I both see my father, she has seen him several times, I have only seen him twice. I feel so connected to him, strangly although close in life, I feel closer to him now that he has passed.
So here is the question: Will he eventually become reincarnated?
How does that work? I know he is still in the spirit world, could he be waiting until maybe my mother or myself passes to begin his next life? I appreciate anyones advice/feedback on this, as this has been something I have wondered for years.

Sounds like you had a very strong spiritual connection with him. I believe he will eventually reincarnate, but I also believe that he may very well be waiting to spend a bit of time with your mother. I know my mother was waiting for my father and believe the two are still together somewhere "over there". They'll stay there until the time is right or until they are needed again.

You may be right about your father waiting for you both before a new journey begins. However, its also possible that we, as souls, can incarnate but some of our energy always remains in the spirit world. There are well respected mediums that also support the idea that we can divide our energy.

Basically, when you pass over, although your father may have already started a new incarnation here on earth, he will still be there in spirit to meet you as you cross over to the spirit world. :D

Remember the spirit world will be timeless. If a soul wanted to incarnate exactly a year after their last physical death, the 'time' they take inbetween wouldn't exist so they could be as quick or as slow as they like before incarnating, without having to worry about missing the bus! :)

Hi hippiemade, We can only speculate on the answer, but there is a popular belief that 'time' is just a perception or an illusion that we only experience in our physical form - and that in reality, everything in the past, present and future is occurring simultaneously. So what could seem like a hundred years between lives here on Earth, could be instantaneous in the spirit world. There is further information about this in the thread: Time as relative and non-sequential

I think that if and when he becomes reincarnated, it's up to him, as it is to all of us.

My father, from my previous life, chose to stay behind to watch over me and again it's up to him as well.

I also agree with that it's possible to reincarnate with some of our energy remaining behind, I think that's because we don't every truly give up our "link",as many religious people feel that god, the universe or "the force" is in all of us.

I also think that "the other side" exists out what we know as time and space and it's possible to be living at one point in time, die in the future come back in the past and be born into a simultaneous lifetime.

Hi Deana,

Welcome to the forum. On a human level - I had five friends pass away between 1977 and 1981. All five of them visited me in visions, dreams and made apparitional appearances to my sight. All five told me about their future incarnations. I have ran into four of the five and confirmed the testimony their spirits gave me in the visions during that time. They reincarnated in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1988. Unfortunately - none of the four had any sort of past life recall - and had no interest in the subject. (I was warned of this in the visions.)

I had a NDE in 1988 and during that 'out of body' into the light adventure - I met with 'many' spirits - past, present and future. It is as Kristopher states. There is an element of the 'soul' that is always present in the light regardless of the 'time zone' factor with the biological process of reincarnation. I even met a 'spirit' of a friend - who hadn't even passed away yet. (He passed over in 1994.)

So (in my opinion) based on my personal experiences - you will be reunited with the 'heart and soul' of your Dad when the time comes - regardless of where his future incarnation may be in the physical time zone of life.

Welcome once again to the forum. Hope this helps with your question.

Sincerely,

DKing

My father passed over 10 years ago and I speak to him often but have only seen him a few times. He says he is waiting for Mom and he watches over her.

I am glad you are both able to see your father. It really helps to heal a broken heart. Hugs to your Mom.

My grandfather past away at 2004 or 5. I remembered his funeral clearly. I heard from my mum that even though he always got drunk and picking out fights but he was a really nice guy inside. (That one is true by the little memories I have of him)

Everyone was crying at his funeral, except me. I remembered looking at his corpse but I didn't feel sad instead I felt happy he finally get to rest. I remembered saying to my mother 'Don't worry! He'll be back!' (yes, in a very cheery tone) That didn't help. Now, I have a picture of him in my Bible. I looked at him occasionally but I wasn't close to him. I last spoke to him last year. He borrowed my grandmothers body for a few minutes to speak to us when my parents brought her to my mothers parents place.. Hope that wasn't confusing..

During that time I wondered 'What the heck was wrong with me..? Saying that..' but now I finally understood 100% what I said.

PS. If you're wondering my religion. My father is a Buddhist and my mother's a Catholic. I follow both, which I don't think is a sin as there's nothing wrong in thinking that two Gods is looking after me. In fact, I behave better.. I'm saying this because a lot of people are confused by my religion but on official documents I state that I'm a Buddhist.

That rocks, a Buddhist/Catholic mix! I'm an atheist who keeps a copy of the Torah handy, LOL! (Drives my anti-Semitic mother-in-law up the walls!) I've delved into many religions, not as a practitioner but as a student. I find the subject fascinating, though I can't bring myself to submit to doctrines that don't resonate with me.

Danke! Its much better when I was a kid, I refused to believe in God. I always wonder if He was alive, why are we suffering? But year after year, I manage to find that answer in my own way. So now, I'm quite sorry I said that. He was always supporting us. Because we can't learn if we don't experience it ourselves. I to look at many religions to see what makes them different yet special in their own way. As Mahatma Gandhi said ' Though we may know Him by a thousand names, He is one and the same to us all.'

I like this quote and relate to it well.
I find that my Buddhist beliefs stir well with my Christian faith. You might be surprised at how many of us there are!

In regard to your original question Hippiemade, I don't think that any one of us could say for sure the timing or method by which the soul migrates. The spirit realm has been talked about for centuries. I believe it is a time for rest and review. And I do believe there is a way they still know and understand us here on earth. I also think that they will move on in their soulful journey as their own personal evolution with the Creator dictates.

Thanks for joining us... welcome! And there are no embarrassing questions here. I hope you have some ideas to work with.

Thanks, glad to know I'm not alone. Every time I mention this to someone in my country I will always get a lecture on how and why Religion is 'suppose' to work. Honestly, I don't really see the problem. As long as you're not doing sins and helping others, its not a problem. Heck to me, you can even be an atheist, just don't do bad things. But I can't say this to anyone in my life as there comments would be 'You're too young to understand..' 'Sooner or later, you'll see it..' or 'Don't you have something else to do, kid??'.. =="

But now I feel sorry for my late grandfather... The person he saw there was not me.. I am a Walk-in soul. I believe my contract was sealed there as a few days later, I received a dream. I was holding a torch running through dark corridors and I stopped at a picture of Ganesh. And I remember someone coming out and looking at me.. But enough of that, that's another topic..

PS. Don't despair. he's happily up there. Resting, taking his time. Just take it he went on a vacation.. He'll be back soon.

Update to Post

I wanted to update this post

A few days ago I was able to have a reading with a medium

I actually never thought I would do that, figuring there were a lot of phoneys out there, but this lady was recommended to me by another friend, so I thought I would give it a try.

I was actually really amazing

When she called me, she said she had felt a powerful presence and it was a male father figure.

She also said to me 3 things that made me believe it was really my dad coming though.

She said my dad said he understands I couldnt be there when he passed over, and he knew this had bothered me for years. ( it really has)

Also she said that he had been there during the times right after his death when I needed his help. And that he was there acting as a guardian angel when my son was born ( I almost died during birth)

Also he came through stating he had been with me at other very specific times I thought he was there ( she was able to tell the very exact times in question)

Lastly and the most important, she told me 5 numbers, my dad was saying to her to tell me. So that I could validate it was him indeed coming through, they were my BIRTHDATE.

After this reading I felt strange, kinda displaced.. But then I felt a weight come off my shoulders. I knew I needed this validation in my life.

Thanks for sharing that hippiemade, I'm glad the medium could help you to bury a few issues. It looks like you continue to have a very close connection with your Dad hug2.gif

Excellent news, Hippiemade. I bet its also a great relief for your father because now he'll know that you know hes there when you need his help! :D I admire your determination to uncover the 'unknown', it has obviously really payed off. :) Good job!

Thanks everyone, I gotta tell ya I feel like a different person, I am so glad I went ahead with the medium, and I will be going back again

I came upon this thread, it is along the question I started a poll about awhile back and I wondered if a new discussion would work.

I'm sure that everyone is familiar with the one-soul one-person one-life idea, Most of us here on this forum have moved away from that in one way or another I suspect.
My curiosity lies in one area here, how the many "personalities" created during our many incarnations fit together. Do they just get reabsorbed back into the "Higher self?"
Does each "personality" remain also as a separate "something" that can be seen by mediums? The idea of a Soul, or Over-soul, that combines aspects of itself and introduces those characteristics into a physical incarnation appeals to me.

I would be interested in what others think about this.

I kind of like a description I found in either a Bob Monroe or Bruce Moen book about exactly that. He said that a past life soul begins consciousness as a bus rider as a single past life experience. This "bus" is temporarily tethered to this world dimension. As the same soul reincarnates to experience needed influences, it in death, always returns to the bus to is growing family of past lives. The now chorus of past life experiencers blend their lives together each time and select a new bus driver who is a combination of all to be reborn and find what ever answers to existence questions that may yet to be experienced. It may take many thousands of lives to finally fill the bus at which point all questions answered, the bus blinks out of this world reality and goes to some unknown reality destination. The author of this saw completed soul groups disappear once they came into full knowledge but could not "see" where they went to.

That seems to be along the same lines as my thinking, although it implies bringing more into the current life experience, and not leaving as much "behind" as I'm more comfortable with.

I believe past life knowledge is better left behind for the most part since in todays social environment it may prove more disruptive than beneficial. Life is a targeted experience under the stars and planets. What we lack in emotional experiences will be found at the exact timing of a birth under a new set of astral influences. Each conception & birth is on hold until the needed astral influences materialize that new path for the new born. Its really an incredible design of building a pure living light composed of spectrums we have no idea exist yet.

What If? That old "IF". Great and popular stage and Hollywood actors come to mind, and their many different roles during their acting careers, and yet the real personality is only ONE. The actor retains his/her personality, although being able to step into another personally, as the role required, for brief periods in their lives. What if life here is something along these lines, as we could all be, unknowingly, actors in one of God's infinite plays He writes? Our lives and past lives and also future ones could be many combinations of starring roles, supporting Roles, cameo appearances, and even just roles as extras. And we all do our own stunts. A star in one life, and just an extra in another, etc.. and that old Hollywood disclaimer at the end of the movie would fit just nice: no animals, (us souls) were injured during filming!

We, nearly all, do not recall our past acting lives, like real actors, and there may be God's good reason for it. As I keep stressing, eternity is a long, long, long time, to say the least. And what are we, immortal souls, to do with ourselves in eternity? GOD'S Picture Book,

I like your vision, Native Son, no wonder I came to a similar conclusion which I describe in length in one of my books: life is like a theatrical play, we are all actors playing a part and trying (but often failing) to follow our scripts. I think there is no need to overthink here and get lost in spiritual notions. We are acting, experiencing life, and having as much fun as we can believing death is real. And though we can play many different roles, I totally agree with you there is a core spiritual personality that makes each of us unique. Nothing gets lost or destroyed. I don't think there are different personalities in each life. There are different manifestations of the same personality as we encounter different challenges throughout our lifetimes.

Eowyn,
It seems that we may have some similar ideas, besides a love for Plato. I would like to read your book cited, but my Spanish would not do it justice. But I would venture to say that our notion of life being a sort of many different acting roles may not be far from the very truth. And if our dynamic duo philosophers may just be authentic messengers from the Astral realm, there may be something to be gained from their messages. And as I recall, Socrates, on his last day in that life and role, spent the whole day making a case to his friends and disciples, who had come to the prison house to see him for the last time, about the immortality of the soul, where he laid down the foundation as to what true philosophy and a true philosopher is. Socrates's very words on this were that true philosophy is practicing dying. This because the soul must needs be free of the body to "think" and reason just what the truth and reality is all about. And only by itself can the soul partake of that beautiful vision of the absolute Good.

And as far as our notion of life in this physical realm being just an acting career for all us souls, one of my favorites songs comes to mind. And I believe that the writer of the lyrics for this song was someone very much in tune with reincarnation and possibly also with our "acting" notions.

I would like to read your book cited, but my Spanish would not do it justice.

Well, that's why you have it also available in English , here: http://rememberinglifeanddeath.weebly.com/ana-maria-del-rio-books.html

But I would venture to say that our notion of life being a sort of many different acting roles may not be far from the very truth.

It's funny, but I've just finished watching, transcribing and translating a couple of radio interviews to Helen Wambach in the 70s, to post them in my blog and make them available to the Spanish public, and her vision of reincarnation and the universe in general doesn't differ too much from ours. I didn't know her opinions in deep, and I still have to accept that decades ago there was already another sensible, practical woman, virtually saying the same things I am saying now in my books and writings. The only difference is that she draw her conclusions from her research on hypnotic regression and I drew mine from personal experience through self-hypnosis mainly. And I say "accept" because this makes me realize sensible words usually fall on deaf ears. I think it's just a pity that after her work and similar investigations, the New Age beliefs have become so widespread. Now it's almost impossible to say karma doesn't exist and be safe. :(

This is part of what she says, I'm sure you'll like it:

And I think that the lives we have in the bodies we construct for ourselves, the mountains that we make, and the telepathic agreements we all come to when we decide to move into this stage set that we call the world 1976, what we do is we have a drama and we put on costumes and we call those costumes bodies. We make these bodies out of the quantum stuff of the universe. There is no single particle of your body that was there yesterday, you see, so it’s always moving. I think cells are lower forms of consciousness that agree to cooperate with us and say, “Hey it’s fun, let’s make a body, O.K., you want this body, we’ll make it”, and I think we dress ourselves in the costume of a body and we paint these stage sets that are called the Pacific Ocean or the peninsula, and I think we play out a moral drama on the stage with this scenario. And I think we don’t have karma, I don’t think that we have to pay in this life for sins in a past life. I think what we do is, we’re in a repertory company and when we’re on the stage and we have a play that’s a moral play, we each have to play every part until we understand its emotional reverberations completely and totally. We have to be Desdemona, we have to be Othello, we have to be Iago. And most of the times we have to be spirit carriers or choruses in the drama, and I think we do this joyously and creatively. I think we accept the limitations of our stage set and accept the limitations that will come with a costume, because this is the best way to act the moral drama. [...]

And so there are times when we get off the stage, there are times when we no longer have to be on stage, we get a break, and we leave the stage set, we call it dying and we say, “Oh... wipe off our make-up”, then we drop off a costume, we sit backstage, we have a drink, we hang around with our friends and then we think, “Well, when do we get back on stage? I’ve got a new idea for a new part, I’m gonna put in these lines at this point in Act 2”. And so we put on another costume, then we move in and we act the drama, and that’s the parable if you will, but that’s the truth as I see it at this time and with whatever insights I’ve been able to get, I suspect it will be different tomorrow.

I even agree with the last part, as my own ideas also change with time, as I experience new things and think about it all.

Socrates's very words on this were that true philosophy is practicing dying. This because the soul must needs be free of the body to "think" and reason just what the truth and reality is all about. And only by itself can the soul partake of that beautiful vision of the absolute Good.

I'm completely sure it works this way. And it's easier to understand when you've had an NDE, or, as in my case, voluntary OBE's. You realize your way of thinking changes completely when you get rid of your mind even if it's only for a little while. So, how can we be so convinced that our vision of reality, our thoughts, won't change when we die and see it all from a different perspective? Ours will always be a partial truth, seen from our human eyes. And my personal opinion is that even when we die, we'll still have a partial vision of the Truth, that's why we keep coming back, to keep growing and understanding the Universe, which is not limited to our physical reality.

“Will he eventually become reincarnated?”

Unless he is a Liberated soul or another subset of religious practitioners with specialized knowledge (that did not seem to be implied in your post) the answer is ‘yes’ according to Hindu thought. He will follow through this full cycle in the same way that those of us who are alive following through the cycle of aging. We may be able to tamper with this to a degree, but it is not something which we are able to change.

The reason for this is that the cycle of reincarnation is driven, in Hindu belief, by desire. So long as one has desires then one will be drawn to fulfill them and then by necessity to experience the result. Desire is the engine of reincarnation.

“He who, cherishing objects, desires them, is born again here and there through his desires.”

- Mundaka Upanishad 3.2.2 (et al Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.3.10 & Katha Upanishad 1.2.9)
