I remembered an incident from years ago lately that I had forgotten about. Back in 1995 I was standing in a service station forecourt talking to two friends who had been drinking in the pub next door. We were laughing and joking when all of a sudden an old man who looked to be in his nineties came up to me. He said "Mick! How are you keeping?" I said "Sorry. You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm Jim." He started shaking his head and insisted "Nooo...your Mick." I repeated " No I'm Jim." Again he insisted that I was Mick so I was curious why he thought that. I asked where he knew me from. He said he had known me years ago. I was like "What, when I was a baby?" He shook his head and breathed out "Noooooo". I insisted I was only seventeen so he couldn't possibly have known me years ago and I didn't know anyone his age anyway. He said "I did!" in a knowing way that only old people convey. Then it became almost like us two have a mild argument about who I was, like he was a schoolteacher correcting me. I thought "This chaps lost his marbles. I ain't wasting anymore time on him." So I just smiled and nodded my head saying "yeeea I'm Mick". He wandered off nodding his head in satisfaction saying "I know you are".

I thought he was a crazy old man. Then I was opened up to reincarnation and discovered that my name was Mick back then. I would have been born about a decade before that old man was born in my previous incarnation. Has anyone ever had an encounter that seemed odd at the time but on remembering past lives might actually not seem so odd? It may have been a coincidence but it's fun to think about nonetheless.

That is a very cool story. I will have to think about if I have had a similar experience to share. Nothing springs to mind but that doesn't mean that it won't later.

It's fun to think about it, but my father met a strange guy in a supermarket some years ago. This man seemed to be completely out of his mind and he started yelling at him something like "you filthy Macedonian! I'm from the Roman army and you have been hunting my family down for years!". Luckily that didn't degenerate into a fist fight.
Since then I've always mocked him and called him a Macedonian, but it wouldn't surprise me if he had a life in which he was actually from Macedon and battled against ancient Romans. You never know.

That's true. You never know. Some people who seem crazy may be closer to the truth than we can imagine, although a millenia old grudge is hard to beat.

I'm just wondering if any of the newer members have had a strange encounter that may be explained by reincarnation?

This is an interesting thread... I'll share my encounter, although it's not nearly as astonishing as yours, Jim.

One of my earliest and most embarrassing memories is of being out in town with my family when I was around two years old and suddenly grabbing a strange man's hand and walking off with him. I didn't realise till much later what the heck I was doing till I heard my family members calling my name repeatedly. I'd walked about ten paces down the road with him by then. My mom said I'd mistook the guy for my dad, but he looked nothing like my dad. My dad has dark brown hair, is quite stocky and short and also I knew how my dad's hand felt since they were calloused from his job as a landscaper. This guy was taller, lean, muscled and had light brownish shaved hair. I realised now that actually he looked like my past self. I was such a shy young child and wary of strangers that it was totally not my nature to go grab a strangers hand. The whole act was rather trance like hence why I had no clue I'd even walked off from my family, and I'd recognised 'myself' in that guy and then latched onto him. The whole thing was embarrassing as heck. I wonder what the guy thought?

When I met a few Airborne vets and without me saying a word they knew who I was, name, rank, MOS, company
The folks I was with had no idea what was going on and for a moment I had no idea either but it was just the first of such encounters, some even from my own company, seems like they (the older generation) spot someone's past life/lives without much effort
I also looked the same as my Airborne life at the same age which didn't really help matters as most kept calling me by my old name

I too find myself picking out old Airbornes without much effort these days but wouldn't go up to them and especially not call them by their old names as they might not even be aware of their past lives

CanSol I always find what you say amazing really, you could write a book one day about all your experiences. Would love to read them... as I’m sure would many others.

Think that there’s many folks out there who may be subtly aware of who they were but don’t know how to put it in words, as per my uncle who reenacts a WWII British paratrooper unit, recently he did several chute drops over Arnhem which he’d always wanted to do. Maybe one day I’ll broach reincarnation with him.

    Hi landsend.

I can relate. I used to stare at certain men's faces like I was trying to remember something I should be familiar with. After I remembered reincarnation I realised that the men I stared at all looked like my past life self.

    Hi Can Sol.

Were the soldiers shocked by your presence? That old man wasn't shocked by me at all.

No they weren't, some even expect to see old souls during reenactment events

When I was in Scotland I often wore a plaid beret-type bonnet with a feathered broach stuck in it (my lucky hat, which I ironically bought in Paris). It's funny because when I eventually visited Scotland for a month my Scottish landlord said it made me look like a mad Scotsman. This was when I was about 20, and though I've always looked a bit androgynous, I was fairly attractive back then with long honey-colored hair. I can't imagine how anyone could confuse me with a man, yet one night I met a drunk guy in the street who looked me up and down and said, are you a man or a woman? Of course all the Scottish past lives I can remember I was a man, but I can't for the life of me think of why that guy said what he did. These days I often get mistaken for a man on the phone, but that's because my voice has become quite hoarse over the past few years.

    Not really.
I have been told several times, though, that "we do not live in the Middle Ages anymore"...

I used to pretty much think I was a boy when I was little despite looking like a girl. I desperately wanted a toy gun but my mom didn’t agree with guns as toys so had to make do with a Captain Scarlet doll instead (he lived a luxurious life with a hoard of mine and my sisters Barbies). Growing up playing make believe with girls I was always the boy role. I always felt different to other girls, and indeed feel different to other women. The only people I truly relate to are men, masculine women and transgender men. Did you ever experience internal gender confusion?

When I was young I also used to think at school when the teachers were talking to each other they were referring to me (because obviously I was an adult trapped in a kids body!) Recall my teacher in nursery school asking the other teacher if she wanted a cup of tea to which I replied yes please. Haha.

I had something rather odd happen to me a few years ago.
My Nan (who has since passed away) was having a past life regression done and I decided to go along with her.
I waited in this sort of little waiting room and as I was sitting there a couple walked out of one of the rooms chatting excitedly about how the man had just discovered he was named George in his past life.
I minded my own business of course, but as they walked past me, the man suddenly gasped and stared at me open mouthed the whole time as he went by!
I heard him say to his partner that he knew me!
Yet I’d never seen him before!

    Hi Emilie.

That could have been a synchronicity for him. Bumping into someone he knew from a past life right after a regression. Its a shame you have no more details.

Yes. Unfortunately George was and still is quite a common name and with no clue as to who he is and no surname it’s impossible to know.
    It is a shame.

Hi, a strange encounter I've had is when a stranger (a lady) needed help with translation. She spoke Italian. I have had many experienced flashbacks since young age that I was an Italian and called Anna, but I did not speak Italian when I met this lady out of the blue. Of all the people she was stubborn when she chose me and began talking in Italian - she was sure I understood her, she refused any one else to help her, and I tried my best.

Another perhaps strange thing happening was when I was young and out partying with one of my best friends. There was another man there who caught my eye as I did him, but my friend got out of character. She just grabbed me and took me aside, telling me sharply not to let this happen, to not start talking to him, or dancing with him or accepting a drink. She was just not herself - and said over and over again "His eyes - don't you see his eyes? He's mean and I won't let him hurt you again!". I was like "Again...?", I did not know the guy, and I had no history of having a bad ex boyfriend or anything like that. Later she acted as if she had not said those things at all and blamed it on her perhaps being a bit too drunk. Just because of the way she acted I deliberately avoided any interaction with him.

Another is that another lady was very sure she knew me from before, this was during when I was interviewed for a new job; and she was immediately as someone I recognized but did not know where to place her. Just knew I knew her. We tried to come up where on earth we've met before, but had no success at it. I "joked" and said that maybe it was from a past life then - and ques what - this lady has showed up as a figure in one of my pl regressions. When it did I was later like "Aha! Got ya!" :)
