I came across this interview with Dr. Weiss. Interesting and an easy read.
This interview brings to mind certain recent threads that show how little understanding people have regarding hypnosis, and how our preconceived notions and our desire to achieve dramatic results often gets in the way of achieving any results at all. Although the interviewer mentions hypnotic regression, I have noticed that Brian Weiss places more emphasis upon the subject's frame of mind; and the reason is simply that he knows how widely misunderstood the term "hypnosis" is, and that simple meditation, relaxing and focusing techniques are really forms of hypnosis.
Is is disconcerting to know that most people perceive hypnosis as some sort of magical door into which the mind finds itself traveling through a different reality; when, in fact, it is nothing more mysterious than being able to relax and focus one's thoughts without interference from outside stimuli.
