I know it's far fetched but my son after a year (He is 6) has now recanted on alligations of sexual abuse that were very explicit and very real to him. He says the reason he said it was because he wanted his real dad back wich made since, he accused his step dad. When asked how he knew about everything he told, his response was, "I don't know. I just know these things." He's highly advanced so his cause and effect of how to get "dad" out of the picture has been confirmed by psychologists that he has the ability to do so, but where did his knowledge come from, is the question.
In the past, my son has been able to see a complete other family (deceased) that lived in our home back in Georgia. I knew something was there, he in turn can still recall this family, tell you their ages and what they looked like. He always says at least every couple of months, "Mom, remember that family that lived in our house? Their dad was very very mean. The kids would hide under my bed." He's been said to have an "old soal" by many people who meet him. He "just knows things" like he said to me.
When he was little, he would say things like "When it rains tomorrow, can I bring an umbrella?" Sure enough it would rain. My mother's mom's side of the family all have something special. Such as my Grandma dreams the future. My mother "just knows" things or will answer your thoughts without you saying them. I used to be able to feel spirits, tell you who they were, where they were and often what they were wearing. (I have blocked that ability because it scared me)
I remember one day driving down the road and significantly remembering me dancing with a long grungy white dress on and a beer in one hand, holding the arm of a tall brown headed woman. Laughing to my hearts content. The vision was so clear and so vivid, I actually felt as though it was a memory. It was very quick but very distinct and I knew it was of me. I haven't had anything else happen to me like that.
How can I try to find out the truth behind my son? You would have to know him to see that how he is today and what he says is beyond what other children re-canting out of fear will do. He is positive, very matter of fact that this just did not happen. He just knew what to say. He also made the comment to me after I said, "How could you do such a thing, how did you know how to make that work?" "Mom, " He cocked his head as he often does and lifts his eyebrows although he is around 15 or 16 years old and said, "I'm just a lot smarter than you think I am."
Am i pulling from thin air to make this work or do I have reasonable cause to wonder?
