Excellent! Definitely one of the greatest musicals of all time!
Not in theme with the thread but gives a small sense of nostalgia.
Music is the closest means we have to time travel... One piece of melody can get you reminiscing your past or dreaming up your future.
Music is one way. Our sense of smell is another. There are occasions when I've been transported to another time and place simply by smelling something long-forgotten.
Thoughts, ideas, key words.
While things are changing continually, there are things that never change.
People are discussing stuff, how everything was better in the "good old times", people are complaining about this and that, people either fear an apocalyptic scenario or hope that everything will be wonderful soon, and I can't help but think: didn't we have that already? More than once?
And poof! I'm in another century. In another millennium. In split seconds.
Or I travel to the future and wonder: how will the time period we're currently in be referred to in 50, 100, 200, 500, 2000, 5000 years? People tend to believe that they are living in a special time, it was the same in the past and will be the same in the future, most likely.
Very good question.
To return a bit into the direction of the original topic...
I am aware, that "pictures" meant early photographs, but a painting is also a picture, and one of my all-time-favorite old pictures (literally) is that one:
I wonder if that was a whole tribe making those handprints, or just a couple of artists doing their own many times over.
A masterpiece! Love those handprints.
Its gonna be better if it's a whole tribe.
It is an honest-to-goodness documentary on something very few have seen. Time wounds all heels. It's a play on Time Heals all Wounds. Kind of surprised you'd never heard the one before.
Rare Footage of New York City in 1911
Might be of some interest to a few.
Newspaper as improvised camo for winter of 41.
This one is interesting.
Roman Buildings Still Used Today
1912 - Views of Los Angeles, California
I've been getting into watching TV game shows from the 1950's to 60's. My new favorite is "I've Got A Secret." Here are two episodes that I found really interesting.
February 8, 1956 - Last Witness to President Abraham Lincoln Assassination
April 26,1961 - Three generations span 195 years
Wow, this is amazing!
My dream destination. Soon Rome. Soon...
Such a powerful message!
So many beautiful and pristine women of the past. I doubt there's a chance we can go ever go back. :/
Now you have to wait for 5 minutes at the crosswalk and can't jaywalk, even if you're alone and it's 3am. Great!
Might be a little off topic but one of my favorite Disney movies is snow white. I really like the animation style as it's similar to the style that I usually draw. Also I've seen reruns of shows from the 1950s such as I love Lucy and leave it to beaver and kind of like how censored things were back then and often wish TV could go back to being that censored as weird as that may sound. Also maybe this is because I'm getting older but I feel things were a bit better when I was growing up in the 2000s. Things weren't perfect but it seemed things were better then than today especially the music. I find that I can't stand pop music these days while some of the songs from when I was growing up were much better. Luckily the early 2000s seems to be seeing a bit of a revival these days which I hope will continue.
The Lighthouse is a new favorite!!
Silent French Film 1905-1906 title is "Le déjeuner des Minet"
Remastered and colorized
The style of clothing and the hairstyles are interesting. Though the cat - well I like cats and cats will be cats wherever and whenever they are, maybe the same goes for people.
