I thought I'd try to reach out for possible explanations and advice on this matter.

I have been attempting to achieve past life regression for well over a year, ever since it was introduced to me when we had someone who was licensed to do the regression hypnosis come to a wolf sanctuary we were having a sleepover at.

I have yet to truly get anything. I have come to terms awhile ago that I would accept everything or anything that happened, as its a part of me. The most I have gotten was a flash of a silhouette of a head of a canine, my feet twitching, and some of my other muscles doing the same.

Lately upon attempting, my feet feel like they are burning, even if I choose to lay down. They grow hotter if I am sitting, even on cold the floor. I commonly use more of a video on Youtube and try self regression. My friend is able to do it with ease and has even met her spirit animal several times. I have yet to get results on that too.

I have even tried the spirit guided one, one that uses shamanic drumming to pull you under and first time the drums made me dizzy and felt like I was floating, but I heard it word for word. Last night, I meditated prior to it automatically going to the guide, And just as it mentioned to imagine an ancient forest, I blacked out and didnt become aware again until before the drums grew faster to pull the listener out of the hypnosis. I instantly thought upon waking how much I loved the shamanic drums. And I felt reassured and happy too. I just do no recall anything.

While I don't have any plans on giving up, I am at a point where I am going to just focus on meditating. As well as look into someone who can professionally do it. I am not getting results on my own, and I am definitely not afraid to admit that.

Is there any advice to be given on other ways to tackle this?

    Hi Atrix Wolf,

    Welcome to the forum!

I am afraid not. Trying to remember past lives is sometimes a very slow process.
It's also an unpredictable process. When you are not able to perceive (parts of) a past life, to me it simply means you are not ready or able to handle this in your current life.
This had absolutely nothing to do with any judgement about your current life. You better should see it as a kind of inner safety system. And trust your system.

The way you present yourself gives me the impression you would really like to explore your connection to wolves in past lives. And I understand your disappointment when it didn't work out the way you had hoped for.
I also understand you know about shamanism. So I hope you are prepared to step into a long journey discovering yourself. The process of remembering your past selves is not about just collecting simple facts, it's all about a transformation. As soon as you make contact with lost parts of yourself, your current self will be afflicted. And you never know in what way or in what degree. It's a highly individual process.

But you came here for some advice, so I'll try.
First, you mention you used a guided meditation with drums and it didn't help you to get where you wanted to go. Maybe the sound of those drums interferes in your case. Maybe they contain more connotations for you in former past lives, possibly in several lives and this mix of memories is too much for getting clear pictures and clear memories. In this case, it just needs time, patience and more attempts in the future.
I'll give an example. If you have had several lives in which drums played an important role, but every time they gave different messages. Think of a war drum, a musical drum in a band, a healing drum, a ceremonial drum for marriage, dance, mystical voyages... It's possible that your subconscious gets confused and shuts down because of overstimulation. So, try another kind of method, without drums involved, and see if this makes a difference.

Maybe this is not the case at all. It's also possible that your actual intentions (and I presume that you want to go back to memories in which wolves played an important role) lead you to a place hidden in yourself that still contains too much-unresolved trauma.
I would say in this case: respect your blockage, don't force anything. You could be ready next week, next year or at the end of your life. That depends on so many other things you are dealing with in your actual life.
If this is the case and you still want to experience a regression, try to regress to a more neutral memory not related to forests and wolves.

When you are able to afford a professional regression therapist, that would be an option too. They guide and help you the best way they can to avoid emotional problems that self-hypnosis can cause sometimes. They can also help you to integrate your new found information into the present. But going to a professional is not a guarantee that you will see things that you are not meant to see right now.

I cannot offer a lot, particularly when Fireflydancing has already said so much. But, I'll try!

I suggest researching different methods of recall and hypnosis. As Fireflydancing said above, maybe the one you used did not work for you, for some reason. Try one without drums, try one with just a steady drum rhythm (such as a Native American piece) with no vocals. Try one with music, one without. Research and experiment until you find one that works best for you. Guided works for some people, whereas others might just need the music or a quiet space.

Also, as Fireflydancing also said above, it might not be time for you to unlock that particular door just yet. Regression is a tricky picky process that works with your subconscious more than your conscience. The door will only unlock when your subconscious deems you ready to remember. I've had flashes here and there through life, but more so in my early adult years. I'd always had some underlying sense that I was older than the physical vessel I currently possess. I had knowledge beyond my years in areas of life that I had little understanding of in this life. I've felt connections to places I've passed through or never visited in this time. I knew there had to be something, but my subconscious did not let me see until I was truly ready. Now, it comes sporadically.

Past life memories come at the most random times. It could be a song, a film, a word, a name. Anything. Sometimes, you have to dig for them in regressions, other times they're offered up freely. But, just a glimmer. A glimpse.

Lastly, don't push or force it, or you might be shown a fantasy and no truth at all.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Atrix,

Different people have different things that work for them. I am a bit hesitant to mention the following method, and I have not tried it again myself for a very long time. But, depending on your level of interest and desperation it may work for you. It is to simply focus in on a particular strong feeling/emotion about something that you have--without knowing its real source--and "go with it". Often this is a fear that popped into existence when you were "reminded" of it by something in this life. This can be very intense and you may find yourself having to pull out of memories and feelings that you cannot cope with. So, don't be surprised if this happens.

In any case, is there something that came into your life/mind at an early age without you knowing where it came from--a fear of water, of fire, of drowning, of . . . ? You may have been on a boat ride or watching a TV show, but the amount of emotion involved is out of proportion to the cause. If so, you can try to hook onto that feeling and follow it to its source. However, if it works at all, it may work too well.

If you want to try this, space out a bit first. The few times I used this method I began by walking or pacing distractedly without attention to surroundings--on autopilot so to speak--focusing on the feeling and repeating a phrase related to a particular fear/dislike. As things become more intense you may find yourself slowing to a stop. Either way, you are basically moving into a space where your conscious mind is relinquishing control and allowing subconscious content related to the feeling/words to spontaneously arise. However, if it comes it may come in a flood. . . or not.

    Cordially,
    S&S

PS--Your "hot" feet may be an initial clue. However, I am not going to prejudice the jury by mentioning any specific possibilities there.

PPS--Where is the cool wolf sanctuary located! :)

PPPS--This may also work with a "positive" thing, but it is trying to understand our hang-ups and phobias that often bring people to seriously consider PL regression. So, I am voicing that possibility first.

Having just recently had some memories recovered after pursuing them for a decade, let me add that there is probably a reason for the timing of the memories to occur, something beyond your desire to experience them. It may take quite a bit of time and effort and only then end up with it leading to trauma as Jim76 and others have found. For me, I think it is for my getting ready for my transition.

Trauma is a good reason to take things slowly.

Especially if you learn through physical research that your former self, when you've identified them, had a traumatic end. I learned that of my former self, though the memories have not come through. I'd rather they didn't just yet. I've also yet to unlock the memory of losing my past-life husband. The grief drove me, in that life, to revenge, which ultimately led to my own end. That door can stay locked for as long as it likes, as far as I'm currently concerned.

Past life regression is not to be taken lightly. You have to be certain you want to walk the path, before you set out on it. Or, make a regression path you can follow, but that you can also stop at any point. That's why Brian Weiss worked for my first. He said we can stop at any time, and reminds you of that. If you keep reminding yourself that you can stop at any point you feel uncomfortable, it might make it easier. Particularly if there's a sense of trauma or fear.

    Hi Atrix,

You are not a kid, but I still should have attached a "Kids Don't Try This at Home!" warning to mine. As the last two posts point out, this is not an area without risks, the primary one being that you may no longer be able to forget about something that was better not brought to the surface--at least if you do not have access to good counseling to deal with it. Unfortunately, people like Dr. Weiss are few and far between, and even where they exist near by, they may not be affordable. Sometimes it is better to let "sleeping dogs lie". (Unfortunately for me, I never follow my own advice in these matters). In any case, you are forewarned. If you turn over a stone, there may be a viper underneath. So, if you feel you must proceed, proceed with great caution.

    Thanks!

I am not necessarily looking to discover my connection to wolves, though there is one I have a particular strong bond with. Cree who is the one kissing me in my profile picture. I feel drawn to him, and he trusts me more than he does to others.

The drums are helping me, from what they make me feel. I've only used them a few times so far, its a whole other video that I used prior, that I have a hard time getting past 20 minutes off without feeling restless.

But thank you for some insight as well. I believe I will give it a rest and try again in a month to see, meditating in the meantime.

I do have another question though, aboust spirit guides. That is also something I have trouble doing. Today when I listened to the guide with the shamanic drums, I ended up seeing myself feeding an owl. But I wonder if that was something or just my imagination. Do spirit guides work the same way?

My friend is able to call upon her's. She has verified it 3 times now. I don't get anything.

I would like to keep attempting it. But perhaps I really am not meant to know it yet. I will definitely look into other guides and methods, thanks!

I don't have a particular strong fear that I have noticed. I have a strong dislike of Lillies, the flowers, that may be something(nor do I care much for flowers) I have a slight fear of bridges. I hate hearing people whistling too. But not really anything thats red flags.

The burning of the feet is a constant. Though rarely it doesn't. The burning of the feet and the restlessness I get in my legs. I try pushing through it, but it grows. So maybe its a clue. Either a distant memory I don't wish to recall, or a grounding method.

Shy Wolf Sanctuary is located in Naples, Florida! Its my favorite place to be!

    Hmmn.

    Thanks!

I have a strong desire to pull through at least once with a past life regression. I have a strong interest, I cannot say what I experienced in previous lives would be harmless, but I feel capable of accepting it. But thats how I feel now, as my current self.

I tried it once awhile ago, and I felt void of everything. I thought of nothing, felt nothing, just void of everything but darkness. Not sure why.

I would like to see it through, but perhaps I have that fear deep inside me. My soul knows how my past lives played it, my current self does not. But still, I keep wanting to poke at the viel to get something.

    Is that bad?

You tell me that, but I still want to pursue it regardless. So, of there is a viper, I am prepared to get bitten.

You may want to look into spiritual grounding. You're not being grounded could be the reason for the dizziness. Like others have said, it could be that you're just not ready yet and that's fine. You'll get there.

"When the student is ready, the teacher appears." or something like that I forget the saying but it seemed relevant enough.

Be careful not to push it too hard. Might not end so well if you try to force the memories out. They'll kind of come out on their own when the time is right. Once you start getting deeper into discovering yourself, it could have a profound effect on who you are right now.

What worked for me was an eastern style of meditation in lieu of a proper regression, although I'm not sure I'd totally recommend it. It was a very long process.

The time you tried it previous, and you felt nothing, probably meant that some other force deemed you unprepared for it. If you feel ready now, as you currently are, then find one that you feel will work. Dr Brian Weiss has a good one on YouTube, which is the first I tried, but there are plenty out there. Not just on YouTube.

And, no, it's not bad to want to learn the truth. It's just that, sometimes, the truth hurts. I did my first regression when I was determined to find the truth. I kept getting visions and 'fantasies', the urge to smoke a cigarette [despite having never had one before in this life], the desire to drink wine [even though I'm almost tee-total]. I kept getting clues, so I did some research and then settled on a regression I felt confident trying.

It's all about timing and signs. The universe, or whichever force it is, will let you know when you're ready.

    Well, it did for me!

I do appreciate the warnings. Never thought of it before everyone chipped in though it hasn't persuade my mind on not doing it, because I do. I don't even know why my desire is so strong. But for now, I will take a bit of a break from attempting regression, but focusing more on connecting to my spirit guide. Which I have been firmly told but a coworker (she can see spirits), is an owl.

What is the eastern style of meditation?

There are regressions purposely for certain topics of focus?

I will certainly look up other ways. I did try something recently, though I do not remember if it was the past life regression or the spirit guide meditation I was doing. But while my feet were burning and tingling, I felt a heavy weight in my hand when I was aware of my palm being flat. Another time prior, while listening to a regression, I had random thoughts that I didn't believe had anything to do with my current life. The one thought that struck out to me the most was me commiting murder to someone unfamiliar, the other thoughts I no longer can remember. Usually, if I don't feel restless I merely fall asleep.

Its all so interesting to me. I just hope to one day be prepared enough to recall. Even the littlest memory or life. I would like to connect to my spiritual self.

You can use any kind of meditation really (I just think the eastern styles get better results), but you need to be able to get into those deep meditative states to be able to view your past lives, which can take some time. Requires discipline and absolute focus.

Initially I had started doing that kind of meditation for an unrelated reason, but apparently you can use it for a number of things.

What is the eastern style though?

I am able to get into a deep relaxation. However, I usually end up asleep. I have somewhat taken on a more subconscious form, like aiming to fall asleep to meditation music and then the video moves onto the guided hypnosis. I believe I have gotten some kind of result though it was a snippet and not a whole life memory. My friend believes I reached Lucid dreaming, for I was able to think, and felt like I was flying from one place to another.

It started with me being on the run, between three different territories. I knew I was running, I was being chased. I flew to where I reached the third place, and I gave myself up in the dire need to relieve myself. The woman who took charge was a nice young woman who had a kind voice to match. It was a time of no electricity. Outhouses were the norm. An outhouse I went to. Now, it had a wooden surface, the inside had a partial of a toilet seat where it was enough to sit on while you did your business. There was actually a large pile of feces right underneath it. I thought to myself "wasn't there supposed to be a hole there?" A smaller pile was behind it. And after seeing some of it smeares on the front end of the seat, I opted to crouch down inside, away from the pile. Yet, there was no back to this combined space, and while I squatted, there was this old man who glanced over before looking away and back at the lake he was standing near. I recall wearing a loose white shirt, though I do not believe I wore underwear. There was not a single face I recongized though. I didn't get a name or age. Or where I was, but it was a place I haven't seen before.

My friend looked up the meaning of seeing feces in the dream and apparently its a sign of gettong rid of negativity.

I believe it was a partial memory. Yet a dream when my brain accepted it? Perhaps thats all that was deemed worthy to view so far. Or perhaps it really was just a weird dream. I would like to believe the former anyway.

There isn't one method. It's just a broad term for a variety of things. Buddhist, Hindu, etc. I'd start with Buddhist since it's the most objective and keeps your mind focused imo.
