I've been wondering... people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, etc... what did they do in their past lives to get such a life full of wealth and good luck at every step of the way? Is it karma, did they help many people in a past life or something? Or randomness? Or will they have to pay it off in another life? But then again, it's hard to think that they could have helped so many people in their past lives to justify the amount of wealth they have.

How does the karma work so people like them (or their souls) can have literally so much wealth come to them?

Perhaps, it’s nothing to do with karma. Maybe, they had been destitutely poor in a previous life, and they chose the opposite end of the economic scale for their next sojourn through. Maybe, it’s their last hurrah, if they’re not coming back round again.

Or, perhaps, it is all about karma, as you say. Not sure what I did in my previous life, but I’m not exactly rolling in the dough in this one! Although, I get the feeling I am better off in this one than my previous.

Millionaires often come from troubled backgrounds even with brushes with the law. Such as Branson and Pete Waterman. Karma does not really play a part in it. If you had money making abilities in a past life they could be amplified in this life.
Wining the lottery however is preselected, if you are meant to win that kind of thing you will. And if not, you will win bugger all!

I personally have a hard time understanding how anyone claiming to believe in reincarnation can feel "cheated" because of their current circumstances or the circumstances of others. Maybe it's just me,but the understanding that I have has helped me deal with my life issues.

Our souls are on a quest to evolve. Reincarnation is part of it, like going to school, to acquire whatever you need to acquire to further evolve. Being rich, powerful, handsome, maybe even nice, compassionate, ... is a temporary effect with no bearing on the true reason we're here now.

You go to school to learn (whatever that school is for), not to be the cool guy, not to be the beautiful girl, not to be the teacher's pet.

It's my belief that we're here, as humans, to learn to master our emotions. From this perspective, envying the rich is counter productive, but to want to be rich, and take the right / legal / decent path to achieve it is perfectly alright, just it shouldn't be a purpose in itself.

If you feel too good in school, if you experience much fun, most likely you're not learning enough, and you're wasting your time.

I agree with this to a degree, but would like to add that there are certain things that can only be learned in positions of wealth or power just as there are certain things one can only learn from poverty and powerlessness. Being the popular kid or the teacher's pet might be distracting from the lessons of each individual class, but it can teach a lot about how to deal with people, what it means to be the target of jealousy, and eventually the lack of true value in these positions.

I think we are all here to see all of the different sides of civilization and humanity. Those people you might be feeling jealous towards are just learning a different lesson or two this time around than you came here for.

Though schools were set up to teach, the vast majority have another purpose now. As one teacher called it "Day Jails for Kids".
Basically it's to keep children away from adults, so society can perform it's tasks. Modern society has extended the school leaving age. But the vast majority of children are not learning anything. Plus the natural way of growing up has been interfered with thus causing social problems on a massive scale. In terms of reincarnation it is causing all sorts of problems for the other side. Such as the high suicide rates from teenagers, depression and social development problems. Then there are increased use of drugs, the direct result of the school leaving age being increased. That's why so many of us are remembering past lives. So we can be more certain of who we are.
It's interesting that we have cases on this site of the drug obsessed Kurt Cobain, with people remembering him. Though I suspect in some cases they were another drug death person that was a fan of him.

Lol. Where did he get the necessary conditions that allowed him to build his wealth in the first place? Donating is good karma, but he had to be born in right circumstances to make money in the first place. How do you explain that?

I believe that a gauge of our souls degree of evolvement is our attachment to the physical. There is nothing wrong in that, as it is normal for each one of us to be at a different point in our quest. It isn't a competition.

Individual wealth has a weak correlation with individual happiness.

    I don‘t think it‘s about Karma.

I could imagine that some past life experiences drew them to financial interests. Or they kept skills.

If Karma worked the way that you‘re rich you get money, it would also mean you’re poor if you commit crimes. Means I would be some starving child from Africa. But my social class changed slightly upwards.

What if everything is just an experiment?
I was reincarnated with a great speaking talent in a troubled germany. But in a healthy body. No pain of being excluded from the army. I am fully integrated into the educated class, which formerly rejected me.

    It‘s as if someone said:
Let‘s take away what could have made you the bad guy. Let‘s see if you screw up this time too.

There's nothing wrong with money it's what you do with it that's the challenge. You can pick a body that is destined to make money or one that is going to be poor all it's life. I have seen many souls who would not opt for a money life, because you have so much responsibilities. Often there are choices, during the life. You can take one path that will lead to richness or another that leads to a life of either living just OK, or one that's a struggle. Sometimes there's get out Claus! The rich person who goes bust! Or the other way around.
