Harvard and Yale - Reincarnation and the Book of Life

In our search for knowledge about reincarnation it always intrigues me we look to the scholars and scientists for the answers. The more highly they are regarded the more credence we give to what they have to say. There is real indication they know any more than anyone else other than their credentials they have to offer.

In my opinion you are all searching for answers in the wrong places

The truth is within all of us. If it wasn't we would not be here

Our very existence is proof that the truth is within all of us, we just have to find it

I my opinion when I was close to death and I believe I became only my consciousness that gave me a very brief glimpse of what the truth is

Elisabeth Hallett was one of our first members - in 1997-8. She and Carol spoke often about her books focusing on children and prebirth experiences.

There have been many new members here -who are interested in research, and searching for answers. I thought I would bring this thread back to the top for review. Please feel free to add to the thread -- any and all lectures, and scientific information and or research pertaining to reincarnation that you may have come across.

Hi Deborah,
First of all, great job you're doing with so many interesting topics you're proposing.
And then, all the concrete information you have as well, and then, you never lose sight of the most important,
our own abilities as temporary incarnate souls here anchored for some time on earth.
Much appreciated.
I have read some books on reincarnation over the last decades, but more personal accounts rather than of scientific nature.
Why?, simply because I accepted the theory of reincarantion easily, naturally, I was already beyond doubt, and needed no proof for myself.
I started to read a simple book on reincarantion in 1986 that I received as a Xmas present :
The Science of Reincarnation, by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda
Actually it was a trilogy from the same author, and one book was on self-realization.
About 30 years later I moved to a different country for one year, and took my most important books along,
in case I needed to verify or re-read something.
I was in a period of spiritual practice, meditating every day, and writing down my ideas on spiritual subjects
in the evening. One night I wanted to look into this book about self-realization, part of the reincarnation package.
I looked for it and found it, twice !!!
It was 01:00 in the morning and I called my sister to tell her that I found two copies of the same book, I had absolutely
never bought that 2nd copy, neither received it.
I still see myself standing there, puzzled, holding and comparing the books and didn't know what to make of it.
I think the 2nd book just materialized for a reason, perhaps to stress the importance of self-realization.
In Paramahansa Yogananda's book "Autobiography of a Yogi", He also relates a story where an amulet materializes in his life,
and served a specific purpose. He was informed that at a given time it would disappear just as naturally as it manifested.
What am I trying to say?
Some of the questions we talk about, are so difficult for us to grasp, to believe, to understand, that it helps when we have a
personal experience that leaves us no doubt. We can only know for ourselves.

There is a website and app called ResearchGate that you can join for free. It includes scientific research on a wide variety of topics. I found the website when looking for research regarding the valuation of warranties in a tax technical nature years ago (I’m a CPA), but I have since searched the website for current research and publications on reincarnation. There were more articles and publications on reincarnation than I thought would be there.

Yes, there is a lot out there Sandy. More than people think. A great research by Stevenson, Tucker, Woolger, and Carol Bowman. And yes Oscar good point - we only can "KNOW" for ourselves. But there is another concept of proof I have been mulling over for a few months now. I might write about it soon. Life has been very odd lately, and catching up from a move, working through my fathers illness etc..... Sigh. I hope to participate more often.
