A little something Landon said.

Yesterday when we were in the grocery store, Landon looked up at me and said "When I was older, you played baseball with me." I said "Oh, I did? Where was this?" and he said "The baseball place." (I take this to mean a baseball park?) And then I said "Who played with us?" And he said "Hyder." I thought this was cute, and since we haven't played baseball in this life (he's only 2) he really wouldn't know much about it. I also thought it was very interesting that he said "When I was older.." I also don't know who "Hyder" is.

That sweet Landon :) .

Was it the first time he said anything like that? Is Hyder a name in English?

Probably it would have been anyway in the U.S. (if that was a PL memory), since it's the only place they play baseball in, right? I'm not sure though. We have a game here that reminds baseball (pesäpallo) and of course there's cricket. I don't know if he could just say "baseball" now anyway, if he remembers a kind of similar game.

Let us know if he seems to remember more!

Thank you, Carrie, that is so crazy! I don't know anyone with the name of Hyder, and it's such an interesting name! He hasn't said more about this, and I didn't ask him, because when I ask him questions he seems to make some things up! that's a 2 year old for you! I will talk to him about baseball today. When I was rocking him for his name, he wanted me to sing "Take me out to the ballgame!"

wow! I cant' wait untill my son starts talking and shares his memories.
Keep asking questions, he can probably remember more.

well, I just asked him a couple questions, but I think I'm annoying him! Here are some things he said:
"Hyder's not playing baseball anymore."
"Hyder's momma died"
"We both had gloves, and I (Landon) had a bat, too."

It's funny because he doesn't know much about baseball, since I'm not a fan, and neither is his Daddy.

That is so interesting Littlemoon!
Do you think he will forget about it when he gets older?

Hey, fab. He may...I don't know. I think kids usually do.

In the car, I asked him "What was your name when you were older?" and he said "Kasey (or K. C.)." That's all he said.

How interesting. I wonder if he meant when he was "older" as in an "older child". It sort of sounds that way when he talks about both of them having gloves and one of them having a bat. A couple of generations ago, having a bat and a glove would have been quite coveted possesions (at least from the way my parents and grandparents talk  ).

The word 'Hyder' in Welsh means 'trust', 'confidence' or 'assurance'. Not usually used as a first name, though.

Maybe a Celtic clue...?

Hyder is a common first name among Moslems, at least in India. There even was a king Hyder Ali who rule portions of Southern India. There is a city named after him call Hyderabad.
