City life or country life? Past or present?

cloud potato

Nonfried potato in the sky = )
Just throwing out some would you rathers...

Are you more drawn to a city life or a country life?

If you could choose a time era to be born in, which would it be?

I am consistently drawn towards a simpler life, one that requires using your hands and learning the land. Maybe it's because I was born in the city.

I've had past lives in cities and I've been rural. This life I was both: I came of age outside of Dallas and spent my young adult life in cities doing the city thing. I've spent the last 15 in Appalachia to the point I own my own mountain.

I am not drawn to either or. I left the city because I knew my choice was to stay, get more jaded and struggle out of skid row or I left and kept my psyche intact and struggled but I'd eat because I could have a garden.

As to eras..I believe I'm in the time I'm supposed to be now. When I was in Paris and lived during the Revolution I was supposed to be there.

Thanks y'all = )

Appalachia's and nature are beautiful.

The question isn't if you feel where you're supposed to be. It's, if you had a choice- what era would it be? It can even be the far future. Just asking for fun. Curious as to what others prefer.

Elle. C, Howdy from Houston TX = ) I think that's awesome you have your own garden. I have no green thumb what so ever. 😵 Even cooler you have your own mountain.

It would be interesting if I could see what life was like when people hunted, skinned the animals, harvested the garden, traded goods, owned land.
But I am grateful for all that we have, and the comforts of modern living.

Hmm~ I have been speculating life pre-internet and life-after terraforming/colonizing multiple planets. Y'all have a nice day !

I guess I answered it kinda weird.

I am the type of where ever you go, there you are. I already halfway live like it's 1920s Appalachia: off grid and ekeing out what I can from the land. I just finished work on a pet en l'air for the day and been commissioned to make a historically accurate Victorian gown. Tomorrow I have a fitting with a man for a deerskin suit, leather I brain tanned myself. (For those not fashion oriented, this is 1770s to 1870s)

I can time travel in my own way. I've made clothes from the bronze age and I've designed futuristic clothes. Here is good a place as any.

Thanks Elle,

For bringing me into your corner of the world. It is a very refreshing perspective.

I had to look up brain tanning, wow what a skill set. Have you ever thought about selling some of your clothes online? Or have you ever archived your work? I'd love to see any photos along with that nice visual you've drawn for us.

Enjoy a beautiful mountain day. The Appalachia's have a special place in my heart.

I was born in a small town that I've never been able to leave. Reminds me of my time as Ryoma. I lived in Tosa, a small place dedicated to farming and it was by no means bustling. I was trapped there too, I craved for the city. I want to be somewhere where it's lively and bustling. I actually much like then, want to go to Tokyo. I went to Edo then, and was happy. I enjoyed how much was going on, and the excitement of a city. I crave the same now, it's interesting the parallels I can see in my life then and now. I think I see it more from that life than any other I've recalled so far. As far as the period, in theory I'd prefer the past in a lot of ways, but, modern technology and advancement isn't something I'd like to step away from. We've come a long way with medical advancement, and I'd not want to give up toilets and showers either. To quote Hercules, "Indoor plumbing, it's gonna be big!" Lol

I would prefer country life, but I would get too lost in my own head. Although I don't care for it, suburbia has a right mix which tends to keep me grounded. The city would be far to overwhleming and over stimulating for me.

I've had city lives and country lives, and the suburbia that I live in now feels like the right blend.
