Daitskiv??

Sister's PL name. As you know, I just received a NOC from her to post her PL memories.. (No Objection Certificate)

She has a PL name from her Soviet PL. But I can't find it on Google. I know for a fact that the Soviets had one of the worst war records for WW2. So, finding hers, good luck.

Its pronounced as Daitskiv (Died-t-skiv) Close enough. I'm just wondering what kinda name is it. Russian, Ukrainian..?

Thanks!

Even though I'm somewhat of a Russian history buff and a Russian language learner (self-taught, go figure), I'm not the best with names.

Here are some possible variations:

Daytskiv

Daitskev

Daitskhev

Daitskyev

Something else you and/or your sister may want to keep in mind is that Russian can have consenant groupings like "zdr", whereas the grammar rules of English don't allow for that. Also, in transliterations, "v" and "y" tend to pop up in oddball places as well i.e. "vse my, odna semya" (transliteration of the Russian version of "Two Worlds"). Note that the "v" is silent, and the "my" sounds like "mwee".

Anyway, enough of Russian language lesson >.>

I myself did a search for the number of various above names, but the I could not come up with anything.

My best guess is that the name you have provided is Russian. If it originates from outside the Soviet Union, there is a possibility it is Balkan in origin, as many leftists (including Tito) fled from Yugoslavia to the USSR pre-WWII. But that only applies if your sister was a leftist at the time.

Would Davitkov be an alternate as well? It seems to be a last name... I found that spelling in the modern day country - Republic of Macedonia (located in the central Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe. It is one of the successor states of the former Yugoslavia)

So sorry but what's a leftist..? Is it politics? If so, not really. My sis said she was a farmer almost all her life. But there's a big loophole in it. She became a war medic at 1942 (she told me she was a soldier at 16) and has proven it by her extraordinary first-aid knowledge. I saw it first hand.

By the way, noted. I'll tell my sis about it. Most probably she doesn't know about this as she told me back then she only received primary education.

Thanks!

Could be but I don't know.. She told me she was Russian. She also told me she had met the Great Lenin before but I found a darn large loophole in the time frame.. Unless she is confused about her age or something... And under what circumstances did Lenin visited her...? Any ways, thanks!

"Leftist" can refer to anyone who's beliefs align anywhere on the left side of the socio/economic scale, i.e. anarchists, communists, socialists, I think feminists, me, etc. A generalisation, basically. I should probably work on my Latin obscurity

I just sort of thought I'd mention it, seeing as there were a large number of them in Eastern Europe during that time period.

Maybe she should teach me some of her first-aid skills. I'm always getting myself into a tight spot and rarely come out of it unscathed. As of now, at least 20-30 wounds/injuries I have received in the past needed stitches and never got any. Needless to say, I was a rather adventurous kid (Pfft...Understatement)

Gah, that is if you don't mind her hygiene! LOL

She is atrociously known (In my family) to not wash her hands very often... So, I don't want her to touch my wounds. But, when there's an emergency, she will wash.. Unless its not near a sink. That's why I bring a Sanitizer everywhere I go...

My friend, broke her leg, she was a daredevil and broke it trying to climb out a window. I wasn't there, but I heard eye-witness accounts saying that she treated her like a war medic. Tearing off some cloth, and wrapping it and all.

The hands washing I may have a problem with

Climbing out of a window!? Though I'm one to talk since me and my cousin about rolled a camper down a hill and into a pond....While we were in the camper....In the middle of the night....With snapping turtles in the pond.. LMAO

Had that actually happened, we would've needed a war medic to treat those wounds.

However, given what I recall from your earlier posts about her WWII memories, and then my WWII memories; she may just shoot me again

BTW, since I'm going to make a point of visiting Russia in highschool/college, and possibly studying abroad there during college; I will definitely make a point of looking for a record of her PL, if she hasn't found it by then. And considering what I plan on going into, I'll have access to government agencies, and so I could probably ask. Minus the reincarnation bit though.

Of course, my real reason for visiting Russia has nothing to do with college education, although as I said, it would give me an advantage : angel

LOLOL Nah, she's harmless.. Unless you invade her in her fangirl mode... Then, she'll stare at you with eyes that would be no. 3 for scariest stare.. (2nd would be mine, and 1st would be my grammar Nazi English language teacher) ;)

She loves anything Russian. Especially Lenin. She'll come defending him like a mad-man. But she doesn't know the word 'Communist'... And she actually laughed, yes, literally laughed like a madman, when she killed all the German soldiers in my video game. She actually knifed them all. (No more COD for her) which makes me worried of possible sadistic mental illness.

You have access to government agencies, are ya a CIA? :D :cool Thanks though! One of my relatives is going to St. Petersburg for job reasons and my sis almost cried when she heard that. Going to Russia.. Without her. I beated her in a contest and I actually said 'From Germany with love' she smacked me..

I considered the CIA once. Meh. Not for me. Political Science and International Affairs actually, and Meteorology. I know, nothing to do with the other. But I still have four years to go before I start college >.>

Now that I think about it, I do know someone from a PL who currently lives in Russia. They have access to stuff like that, so I will see what I can do! [zooms away like Road-Runner. "Beep Beep!"]

LMAO Political Science and International Affairs, eh? I was thinking about going there as well once I go to University. How's the course? Is it interesting?

My sister would cry, living in Russia. While she's stuck with me. Note to self, be careful of who you fight with. You don't know who you'll end up as sibling. Tell him to maybe search the name with either Meliton Kantaria or Vassili Zaitsev. Yes, the famous sniper. She told me she knew him personally. Oh, and the 1962 Novocherkassk massacre, she told me she died there.

Thanks!

I wouldn't know personally. I'm not there yet. Still stuck at Middle School in small town USA. Meh :(

But from what I understand about the course at the particular US university I want to go to, an internship to a politician is mandatory. Which is all good and well, as it gives me the opportunity to pester some state senators

I assume if I were to take the same course in Moscow, that would also be a requirement.

Okay, I will make sure to tell him to search for the name with Kantaria, Zaitsev, and the Novocherkassk massacre. I'll ask tonight, since the time-zones are different.

Time zone.. Which reminds me. Its in the Afternoon there right? Its 5AM here.. Geh.

I plan to take the same course and maybe grill some certain politicians... : angel

Yes, fangirl. For Korean soap operas and Glee. Mess with her shows and you might as well be writing a death sentence on yourself.

I tried searching Google for other variations as well as other "D" Russian surnames that sound similar.

Dyakov only brought up Soviet intelligence during WWII in the Wermacht, and Dityetev only brought up a 19 year-old man in the Soviet navy. So neither of those fits the description of your sister's PL memories.

Soviet documentation is so bad, it's a wonder that the USSR was even documented! :cool

Since she was male in that PL, I'll search for the patronymic versions as well.

Yes, one wonders.. Any way, thanks a lot. My sister thanks you as well. And I told her to get a memory that is useful so I can use it.. I tried hypnotizing her but she opened her eye and said "Why are you speaking like a German?"

I just stared at her.

LMAO

My mom once asked me what H.M.S stood for. I said "Her Majesty's Ship, of course. Don't tell me you didn't know that!" She just looked at me like I was a lunatic. *Sigh* Americans...... : angel

But anyway, you and your sister are welcome. I enjoy helping out where I can
