The Past Life Forum is a private forum that is open to the public. A person MUST register and become a member in order to post. When a member registers, they are agreeing to the rules of the forum. Failure to follow these rules could result in legal action should that failure be disruptive to the forum. PLF is a private forum that is open to the public.

MISSION STATEMENT; "This bulletin board is for the free and open discussion of topics related to reincarnation and children's past lives. We encourage all views—even those of people who don't believe in reincarnation—to be shared and argued in a civil manner and with common courtesy and respect for all participants.

Material that is, in the opinion of the administrator, knowingly false, defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, blatantly commercial or excessive, an invasion of a person's privacy, or in violation of the law is prohibited and will be deleted. Individuals who repeatedly disrupt the civility of the discussions may be barred from participating."

Your participation on the forum is welcomed, but please follow the rules.

The first purpose of this Forum is to provide a safe, friendly, compassionate, and responsive forum for FAMILIES OF CHILDREN EXPERIENCING PAST LIFE MEMORIES.

The second purpose is to provide a friendly and quality space for a serious and personal discussion of reincarnation. A place to think, debate, question, and get help.

This forum is made possible by Steve and Carol Bowman and is meant to be used for the discussion of reincarnation, especially in cases concerning small children.

Sharing experiences and research, and making new friends who have the same or similar beliefs is also important. Debating issues and points of view - when done in a civil manner is also encouraged.

PREACHING- that your way is the only way {i.e. Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Scientology, even spirit teachings via individual experiences which is presented as prophecy} will not be allowed. It is important to remember we have many members from many different nations. Please when you post responses to others - do so in such a way that you are not claiming to have all the answers; or that your way is the only way.
Forum Staff will remove topics such as animal reincarnation, alien past lives, other planets/galaxy reincarnations or abductions, and any dreams that are clearly not past life-related.

If moderation feels that you are posting in order to preach your beliefs - the posts will be deleted. It is important that we as moderators maintain the mission of the forum.

From Deborah,

Carol Bowman's Past Life Forum has been in existence since 1997. The Mission Statement and Guidelines for Posting help the moderation team maintain its longevity.

The Past Life Forum is the only place we know of on the Internet that offers a safe and supportive environment for parents and grandparents to ask questions and get informed answers about children who appear to be remembering a past life. This was the original reason Carol and Steve Bowman created the Forum eleven years ago. And although it’s grown to cover the full gamut of reincarnation topics, Carol and Steve and the moderating team still place the highest priority on welcoming and helping families who have questions and stories to share about their children.
Membership is Internationally based. The moderation team is as well. We volunteer to help make sure the forum is maintained and running smoothly.

We ask that you please be mindful of your choice of words when posting. Especially when responding to another member. Help us create a community of understanding, compassion, and kindness as we help others learn about reincarnation and what remembering past lives means to us all.

From Steve, yesterday 7/28/2022

I just reread the mission statement for the first time in at least ten years; I think I wrote it 20 years ago. I was looking to see if it needs to be updated or revised as part of our new push to modernize and re-focus the Forum. (It's in the section Forum Rules and Guidelines.)

What I discovered is that it hasn't gone out of date one bit. It's all still true. It's what we still believe and describes what we want this Forum to continue to be as we carry on for another 25 years.

Our first priority is still to help families who suspect their child is experiencing a past life memory of some sort. There's no other place on the Internet that does this well. This is our mission.

The second is to provide a safe place for adults to discuss their own memories.

The third is to provide a positive environment for anybody with an interest in reincarnation to discuss and learn from each other. And to share resources.

The emphasis on civility, respect, and open-mindedness is just as important as ever. This will not change. We suspect it's the reason we've survived more than 25 years when so many other forums have imploded in downward spirals of negativity. Our moderators over the years deserve as much credit as the policy itself. You can't imagine how much time and effort they spend policing the threads and making tough decisions to keep discussions civil and welcoming.

When I do get around to rewriting this, I'm going to add a new emphasis on healing. This is to reflect the evolution of Carol's thinking based on her 35 years of experience with both children and adults. Healing is the point of past life regression, but it's also the first reason for acknowledging spontaneous memories, in both children and adults. Carol is concerned that the therapeutic benefit of working with past lives has gotten lost in the rush by professional past life researchers to provide "proof" of reincarnation. So adding to this Forum's mission is to keep alive the idea that past life memories can heal.
Steve
