Los Angeles County Fires

Palisades and Eaton are the two biggest fires with Palisades being the largest. Hurst is another fire and there are other fires popping up here and there. Its been sad for the people who lost homes and loved ones. I'm not near any of them, being in the southern half of La County when all of the fires are in the northern half. Been stuck inside going on the 3rd day now. The winds are pushing smoke and ash down to my area and the air quality is bad. The Santa Ana winds are dying down, which should help the firefighters. Getting help from firefighters from Canada and Mexico. The US gov. is sending 13 C -130 aircraft over to help. They can configure those massive planes into firefighting planes. They just load a module in and it is good to go. Those will be using March AF Base (which is a spare base and not normally used.)

Its crazy and sad and terrifying.

Hi Cryscat,

Keep safe! Everyone is rooting for you guys! The people of LA need all we can do for them as a nation, so I also hope that will be forthcoming. OTOH, I would like to cuss out some others (who will not be named lest my post get deleted and I get told off by moderators). So I will shut up now.

Anyhow, good luck and God bless!

Cordially,
S&S

Thanks.

11 fire related deaths, so far. Palisades fire is now heading for the San Fernando Valley, specifically, Tarzana and Encino. Mullholand Dr is now a fire break and there has been a lot of phos check dumped along that road. Hope it will stop the fire from advancing. The Red flag warning (for wind) is ending. Bit of a change in the weather now. My air quality is getting better.

If anyone wants to donate here are some links:

Financial donations enable the American Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from disasters big and small.

The Salvation Army is providing critical aid, like shelter, food, and support across southern California through their Emergency Disaster Fund.

World Central Kitchen is working with restaurant and food truck partners to provide meals to feed first responders.

Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation Wildfire Emergency Funding is seeking funds to equip LAFD members battling wildfires with equipment and supplies such as emergency fire shelters, hydration backpacks and wildland brush tools.

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is working with government agencies, nonprofit and faith-based partners and others to respond to the fires throughout Los Angeles County. They are accepting food donations between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at its two distribution centers: 1734 East 41st Street, Los Angeles, 90058, and 2300 Pellissier Place, Industry, 90601.

Wildfire Recovery Fund - California Community Foundation supports communities with both intermediate recovery and long-term resilience to rebuild and restore the lives of California’s most affected and underserved populations.

May I ask why you believe this? I'm genuinely curious.

May I ask why you believe this? I'm genuinely curious.

All my beliefs are iteratively formed only by tapping my inner source of knowledge and guidance. I don't follow any dogma, nor guru, but I believe that all of the genuine ones have tapped into the same information, each one distorting it according to their beliefs and level of evolvement. It is a process of learning, of acquiring of knowledge and abilities through discrimination, rather than through accumulation.

I don't claim that I know, just that I currently believe so. I can only say that I know that "I exist"; everything else is my beliefs, and hypotheses that I explore.

More evacuation orders were lifted or downgraded Friday for the Palisades Fire burn area, including the Mandeville Canyon neighborhood, making way for many residents to return to their neighborhoods after more than a week.

Hi Cryscat, are you still safe? I can't imagine how these terrible weeks must have been for the people in your area. So many people lost their homes, work, and infrastructure—nothing to return to.
And usually, neighbors can help in case of a burned-down home but now everybody is in it together. So unreal.

We are fine. These fires were in northern LA county and we are in the southern half. No more ashfall or smoke.
