Memories That Don't Seem To Mean Anything

Do you ever get PL memories that seem to be little more than snapshots? No apparent meaning behind them, no great revelations, just little snippets.

For example, last night as I was meditating I entered a scene in the Southwest desert somewhere. I am a Native American boy who is on the verge of manhood. "My ceremony" is coming up soon and I am pretty jazzed about it. There is no shortage of eligible young girls and I know I have their attention. I have a test of some sort to go through, and with the reckless bravado of youth I know I'm going to ace it.

That was all I got. I tried to stay on a bit longer, but it was pretty much just a snapshot of this kid's life as he prepares to enter manhood. I think he was one of the Anasazi tribes, maybe Chaco. There was a sense of power due to social class. I know the Anasazi made slaves of those who would become the Hopi, Navajo, and Apache. Perhaps there was an inflated sense of self-importance from being in the "ruling class". But there doesn't seem to be any more here, just a quick look.

Ever get those?

I do get "snap-shots" like that, but mostly in dreams. The other night a voice repeated "Caesarea" in my ear, over and over, most of the night. There was something about "mountain", and "battle". As soon as I got up, I googled Caesarea, and got Caesarea Maritima, and Caesarea Phillipi. I thought, "Okay, which one?" The "Mt." made me realize it was Phillipi. It fits with a life I've started to piece together. Last night, I dreamed about two Jewish men of Polish extraction. It was the 1920's. One was a political radical, and one, a conservative, sweet man, and I had to choose. That also fits with a life that I haven't talked about. I would guess that you had an Anazassi life, ShiftKitty. Weren't they off-shoots of the Sinagua people? I had two lives around the Flagstaff area, around the time that Sunset Crater was erupting, plus a Zuni one, and my Navajo one, as "Nest". I think you wrote somewhere that your family was originally from Arizona? We seem to be born into geographic areas that are familiar a surprising amount. In my case, I've been drawn back to some of the areas where I lived in other lives.

"Anasazi" was a, oh, I don't know the word for it, "category"(?) for a group of tribes. There were the Chaco Anasazi, the Sinagua Anasazi, and at least a third group whose name escapes me.

My father was from Arizona. My mother was from northern California. I was born in San Jose, CA, but we moved so much that I really don't consider any place to be "where I'm from" unless it's Highway 101, though I do often list "Honalee" as my place of birth!

The last time we were in AZ I felt a very powerful connection to the Granite Dells area. I dream of it from time to time, and I feel in every dream like it's a place my soul has gone to several times, from waaaaaaay back when. It's got a very primal feeling. A Yavapai Navajo woman told me about "power places", places our souls feel at their best in, like they're recharging. Granite Dells is such a place for me. I think in my vision I was in that area.

Yes. For example, I have one memory of being a older, English man in the 18th century holding a dinner party at his house in the country right after the beginning of the American Revolution. It's just a quick snapshot and hardly important (as far as I know) at all. I have another memory of riding in a carriage and looking out at a group of people who seemed to be waiting for me too. Neither of these seem very significant, but they're there nonetheless.

All the time...

yes, I get snapshots all the time, and if I'm lucky, over the years I can piece them together like a puzzle...if not...they remain a picture in the collage of my lives!

ShiftKitty, I am always confused about the definition of those tribes. The only thing I'm sure about is that I was there! I have heard it said that when archeologists wondered why the Sinagua vanished, the tribes currently in the Southwest said "Who vanished?" We have always been here." In Navajo, "Anasazi" means "Ancient Enemy", as you are probably aware. That meshes with your memory about your tribe having captives, and feelings of superiority. Are you talking about the Granite Dells area outside Prescott, Arizona? I didn't know about the hiking trails until I read your post. I'm going to check it out, when I'm lucky enough to visit that area again. Every one is moved by Sedona, but my feeling of home comes as you drive south from Sunset Crater. There is such a feeling of peace for me, out there in the wind-swept "nothing".

Yes. That's how it usually is with me just a 'flash'. But, slowly all these little moments can come together for form a fuller picture. I will usually use something like this as a basis for a meditation and can often get more detail that way.

You relax, etc. then take yourself back to this 'flash' and stay with it a bit longer, rewind and replay it a few times if necessary. Follow on from what happened next, what came before, why is this moment so significant....

Yes. That's most of the past life connections I have made...they have been short snippets. One day, I will do a regression session, that will show more from a lifetime.

Sometimes, my 'snapshots' or clairaudience incidents are so brief, I dismiss them. I try to make sure I don't do that when I get random thoughts...on the other hand, I don't want to waste time, if they are insignificant.

Recently, I had two that I almost just waved away.

A few weeks ago, I woke up and saw the word Gieve (like I was looking up at a storefront sign) I was just about to forget about it, and something made me 'research' it. I also recall 'seeing...but out of the corner of my eye...and hearing a horse-drawn carriage in the street go by next to me.

When looking it up, I thought...I'm going to come up with either 'grieve' or Gieves. Well, I did come up with Gieves, so I kept searching...and found that Gieves and Hawkes was a British Navy outfitter established in the 19th century. OK...and there was a picture of a London storefront with Gieves and Hawkes on it. Well, not exactly what I remember. But, then I found out that Gieve (the actual last name, not Gieves) had another store in Portsmouth with his name Gieve(just like I saw it above the store.) Well, I don't have much else, except, I think I was female (not sure) and I was standing in front of the store looking at the name. Interesting...how a seemingly random thought/image can be PL-related.

Yes. This sort of thing happens to me a lot. I used to automatically just suppress anything like this. Now I stop and pay attention to it a lot more. From these tiny little flashes often comes a lot more information later.

I think most people have experiences like this but dismiss them as their 'imagination', or assume it's something they've seen in a movie, etc and think no more of it.

That was interesting, BethC. It sure feels past life! Like Tanguerra, I pay attention now. While going "under" in a regression Saturday, I experienced something that was like a TV screen, with a "picture in picture" effect. The "snapshot" was very bright, and in the upper left hand corner. It was just a woman, looking out of a window in a thick stone wall. I thought, "I want to see that!", and it blinked away. It was a "teaser", or a movie trailer. Has anyone else experienced that?

I had a dream a few days ago that would seem to not mean anything. I dreamed that I was paddling an old wooden canoe down a river but the river was in a flood stage with modern houses being under water. It caught my attention as there was a sort of hollow feeling and a recognition over the paddling a canoe and looking around. I am discounting the houses as that is not what those funny feelings were around. I wonder if its a past life memory mixed with whatever else my mind came up with.
