    Looks like a very old traditional dance with a lot of magical symbolism. Could seem like the scarf here represents a snake/serpent.

    Here's a comment below this video-clip,
    "Pizzica είναι χορός φολκ που προέρχεται από την ελληνόφωνη Νότια Ιταλία. Παραδοσιακά, χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως χορός θεραπευτικός του δηλητηρίου της αράχνης, το τσίμπημα της οποίας (στα Ιταλικά η λέξη pizzica σημαίνει τσίμπημα) προκαλόυσε ενός είδους 'δαιμονισμό' σε γυναίκες και άντρες."

    translated from Greek into English:

    "Pizzica is a folk dance from the Greek-speaking Southern Italy. Traditionally, it was used as a therapeutic dance of spider venom, the sting of which (in Italian the word pizzica means sting) caused a kind of 'demonization' in women and men".

    So, then I would guess this is an older greek version of the later italian tarantella. But from the movements I would also persume its not impossible that even further back in tradition this dance could also have had to do with snakes and snake bites - not only spiders.

    Tarantella is Greek, too. I mean, it's of the Greeks, that emigrated around the 7-th century B.C. from Sparta and founded the city of Taranto in the South-Eastern Italy.

    Taranto => Tarantella

    The very word "Italy" is of Greek origin. The whole South Italy was called once Magna Graecia (Great Greece) and extended as far north as the city of Naples ("nea polis" = "new town" in Greek).

    Yes, I am familiar with the greek origins of southern Italy. And the southern Italians, even up today, are also very aware of this themselves.

    The romans said of themselves that they based their culture (their habits and tradition) on the old greeks, the etruscians and even on the old egyptians. Because these three old civilizations the romans admired the most.
