The Lost Children Of The Alleghenies

Wow - I'd never heard the story before and I got goosebumps listening to the song and reading along as the story unfolded. Incredible about the dreams - just very sad they couldn't have understood the meaning sooner.

I have driven through the area hundreds of times and never heard of this. Next time I travel that way I will be sure to look for it. Blue Knob is still a dark, lonely mountainous area.

I was always fascinated by songs my mother would sing about lost children in the woods and how the robins would put strawberry leaves upon their sweet heads and other ones about dying children wanting their little shoes put away.

I can only hope that they are all reunited somewhere living out a much better life.

I wonder if the song was about the little boys? I am surprised you have never been there. So very sad.

Her voice is so haunting on this song ... she said when it was brought to her (written by someone from the area) she got knew she had to record it ...

Listening to it still gives me goosebumps.
