4 year old describes family murder

My four year old has been talking about 'when he was a teenager' four the last 6 months. I have been wondering if these were past life memories. About a month ago he started having horrible night terrors every single night. Today after our follow up appointment at the ent where we had a sleep test done (results were ok) he told me that his parents and his sister were killed before 'but this time I know what to do! I will bash his face in and kill him first' I was shocked and just asked him to repeat what he said. He told me the same thing again. I didn't pry or ask any follow up questions. Not sure if that is the right thing to do. He is very advanced for his age in many areas and his vocabulary is amazing. Sometimes he says things to me that I have never said to him. I should also tell you that he doesn't watch any violent or adult tv. He only watches dora and nick Jr. Has Never watched anything else. I have been wondering for a while about his years as a teenager and now I want to be ready when he brings this up again. So - what is your advice for a four year old who talks about his family being murdered? I was in total shock today. Also - he has always wanted to 'get the bad guys' and be a police officer. My husband is nypd though so I think that stems from wanting to be like dad. Thank you for reading!

Welcome to the forum. Yes, this does sound like past life memories. Have you read any books on reincarnation? You should read both of Carol Bowman's books "Children's Past Life Memories" and "Return From Heaven". Start keeping a journal and write down everything he says that could be PL related. You can ask him open ended questions but be careful not to ask leading questions. These are clues and are like jig saw puzzle pieces. When he is having nightmares you can reassure him that was before and he is safe now. There is information in Carol's books on nightmares. Read the old messages here in the Forum, especially in the Children's Memories section. There are some amazing stories here. Also look at the video archive section. Keep us posted.

Hi NYCmom

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like a past life memory to me. We hear a lot of stories of this nature.

If you can get hold of Carol's books they are highly recommended. Most importantly try not to stress about this sort of thing. Don't treat it as though it's anything out of the ordinary. Don't make a fuss. It's perfectly normal and something kids generally grow out of.

This is a pretty dramatic story, but people tend to remember the most dramatic stuff first. He may have all kinds of other things to tell you about this life and possibly others. When he wants to talk about it, the best thing to do is just listen. Just go 'Uh huh, mmm hmmm, oh really? Then what happened?' etc. etc. just like you would if he was telling you any other kind of story. You might like to keep a journal and write down some of what he talks about (not in front of him though!). He may well begin to forget all about it in a few years. Kids often forget most of this kind of thing by about age 7. But in later life he might find this all very interesting and want to look into it further on his own account. A journal about this would be a valuable resource to him in that case.

Life theme

It sounds like maybe his life theme could be justice and he chose his dad as a police officer so that he could become a police officer or other related law enforcement field to help him overcome what happened in a past life. Sometimes we think the situations of this lifetime are what create the things the children say but in reality they are just triggers to help them remember their path.

This type of situation does sound past life related. As tanguerra and argonne said, it's really helpful to listen and keep track of even the small moments. They can fit together and help make sense of the situation.

It can be hard to step back and simply hear it since the story is so painful and out of context for the present situation. It is good to give him a safe place to speak about it. Remember that talking about it is healing for a child, even though it's very difficult to hear. Just keep reassuring him that he is safe and protected.

Although the original post was in 2013 I hope she gets email notifications and comes back to update us. This is fascinating ...

{{Hugs}} to Mom. I know how scary it all can be. I have been there and am willing to talk if you wish.
