A Four Year Old's Tales?

My son Logan is overly comfortable with antiques and museums. Whereas his older siblings are bored to death having to be dragged through any sort of museum unless it has things they can play with and interact with in it, he is perfectly happy to stare at old relics like clothing from the 1800s and tools and furniture.

We first noticed this when he was two. While my husband tried to gather our older kids who were running all over the place clearly getting bored, he kept going back to a glass encased wardrobe. Even I was bored with the clothing aspect of the museum but he kept staring and pointing, at one point even saying and demanding,"Mine!" He threw a fit when he didn't get to have any of those clothes. At the time I thought it was odd, but we were tired it was a long day, and I didn't pay all that much attention to this.

But since then he has said and done quite a lot of things that have made me question the whole past life aspect of things. I never believed anything about it before. I don't know anything about it really.

Logan will say things out of the blue sometimes. Like one day last year we were out back having a little picnic in the yard. He all of the sudden pointed up to a bird's nest and said,"Mama killed a red bird." Which, firstly, he never calls me Mama. He calls me Mom or Mommy. He has never called me Mama even as a baby first learning to speak he would say 'Ma' but not ever Mama. Secondly, I've never killed a bird in my life and when I said I didn't kill a bird, he said,"No Mom, the other Mama." I mean he could have been confused or imagined this, but many other things he's said lead me to believe he isn't confused or imagining these things.

He will bring up names of people we don't know and he's never met or seen or heard of as far as we know. He draws pictures of things I know he hasn't seen like he enjoyed drawing what looks like some kind of building he says is 'home' but its nothing like our house, and he says its his 'other' house when questioned. I watch what he watches on television I've asked him to point out this 'other' house but he never does. I don't think its something he's seen on television.

And recently he's taken to telling 'tales' that again, we have no idea where he comes up with them or how he hears them. We question our older kids and they are clueless as well. He'll tell about this old guy building a barn that got 'blowed up' by wind. He told us a lady 'got killed' from eating bad fish at his 'other' house. Its not like we are encouraging such tales, he just starts coming up with them out of the blue. At least, if we are, we're not doing it on purpose. But we're not trying to discourage them either. I'm not really sure what to do about these things.

There are just many random things that have me very much questioning everything these days.

Welcome to the forum,

Are you keeping a journal to help you document what he says when, how old he is when he said it, and if the stories have changed? Have you read any of Carol's Books? I highly suggest that you do. Start with Children's Past Lives. Then Return from Heaven. It sounds like he is having memories.

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I am on break at the college - so not much time to reply. I will come back later.

Welcome to the forum, TheFrozenParado. :)

Thank you for sharing about your son. It does sound like he's having past life memories. Like Deborah, I'd suggest you read Carol Bowman's books, if you haven't already. You'll find also threads about children with similar "traits" here on this forum, in this section. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading them and noticing you're definitely not alone.

There's nothing weird or bad about what your son is experiencing. Does he ever seem bothered by these "tales"? It's a very good thing, if he finds the memories pleasant, as sometimes they can be traumatic and result in nightmares etc.

I hope you'll keep us posted about your son. There isn't much you need to do, if he seems okay with his memories. But it's always a very good idea to write down everything he says that is out of the ordinary or seems like a past life memory.

Hi TheFrozenParado!

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your son's story!

Deborah and Karoliina have given you some great suggestions and thoughts.

Have you read through this section? Many members talk about their small children mentioning their "other" parents, family, homes.

There are just many random things that have me very much questioning everything these days.
Please feel free to discuss them with us, if you feel it might help you and your family! ;)

Again, welcome!
