"Children's Past Lives" by Carol Bowman-Ongoing Discussion

Hello All,

Getting back to something Steve said in an any earlier post, I'm hoping we can pick up discussion on the subject of not having past life recall. Some of us don't feel that we have legitimate past life memory...or nothing strong enough to be sure of. We believe in reincarnation because in its strictest sense it logically follows what we observe in nature/physics.

I like the idea of observing our individual current day patterns, interests/talents and tendencies and using them as possible indicators that give clues to past life situations.

Quoting Steve:
"Without having visions or experiences, I still can attribute certain patterns and proclivities in my life to past lives. For example, I've always been attracted to Chinese philosophy and art; I wrote masses when I was younger--and I'm not Catholic; I feel an indescribable intimacy with complicated music, such as Bach or Renaissance counterpoint. And I love to pack up the car and take very long solo road trips across the country, feeling very much like a trapper who packed his canoe to go into the wilderness to trap and hunt. I also surprise myself at my ability to intuit structure, in music or in writing, as if I've done it many times before."

In sharing something from my own present life I'll choose one thing for now to use as an example of possible clues to past life details.

From the telltale signs of my life present I would say I've lived past lives where my occupation mainly dealt with the healing arts. Since the age of 20 I've worked as a nanny, a singer (singing sometimes in a spiritual capacity), a residential aide in a detox unit, and in the whole foods industry where its never really just been about food -meaning, working in health food stores for years where there is high availability to most all alternative healing techniques. And I've worked as a vegetarian and macrobiotic cook, sometimes specifically for those healing from physical illness. Even when I've tried to take up a different occupation or go in another direction nothing but the "healing arts" settles in me. Big clue I'd say.

Some believe that past lives are all about the individual having completely different temperaments and propensities. From everything I'm learning about reincarnation that is not the case. It appears we keep with a certain nature or constitution, yet take on different human characteristics that involve that nature, (in order to evolve certain aspects of our individual selves). For instance...in a past life I could have made very poor judgements when it came to people's health, or I could have been too controlling, or perhaps overprotective.

What are ya'll's thoughts and experiences with this?

Welcome Gaialynn!

Nice to meet you. Don't worry about the English, most of us English speaking folks around here aren't even close to perfect with it. Hope you'll feel welcome under any circumstances.

Love back to You..

My son Matthew is now 17. He talked about his past life frequently as a young boy and would ask me how did he get little when he used to be big. When I would ask him where was I he would always answer that I was not there that time. Now at 17 he just told me he has no childhood memories but feels like he just feels like he just appeared in this life? I have two other children who have not ever said the peculiar things he has said. He even was playing at 3 and asked me why he wasn't born first? I started to explain that his brother was the oldest, he looks at me serious and says I tried to come back three times and held up three little fingers with such determination. The weird thing is I had two miscarriages after is brother so was that the three he was telling me about? He has always been a tuff boys boy but when he was 3 and 4 he would tell me he used to be s girl like me. He even liked to have me paint his toes because he said he missed doing so with his other mom when he was a girl? He no longer says these things. Do you think he came from somewhere else? Just curious if anyone had similar stories with kids. Is it just a good imagination? I've always felt like he has a old soul. New here and just finished the book which I have so many parallels to.
