I'd like to share a little story about my niece and nephew were overheard talking about a past life experience. Although it only happened on one occasion, it explains a life time of feelings. My sister's children, , ages 5 and 3 were sitting on the bed talking, unaware that my sister was listening in the doorway. My sister walked in inthe middle of the conversation. My nephew, age 5, was talking to my neiece about how when he was "Da's" father (Da was his great grandfather who recently had passed) and they were in the woods hunting. He then described being mauled by a bear and died.
When my sister came into the room, he continued the conversation with her. When she asked when this happened, he said "No mom this was before you were born". (My niece was talking about her other mommy, named Claire. She said she was her mommy before she was in her belly.) My sister had called our father in the room. After a few minutes he left the room because he was getting the chills.
I wasn't there when this happened, but she immediately called me up. About a few weeks later when I was visiting, I asked the kids about it. My niece didnt remember, but my newphew was able to tell me the story--but it was not as detailed. He told me he didn't really want to talk about it. I asked him again about a year later and he didnt remember.
I had the feeling "No Wonder" in my head, and at first I didn't really know why. It felt like a closure, but I didnt know why.
My sister and I grew up visiting our grandfather (Da) in the catskill mountains. He grew up in NYC--but as when he was an adult he bought a summer cottage in the mountains. He had a strong connection to nature.
My whole family-on my mothers side-grandparents, mom, and three kids, all have a connection with bears. Its very mixed feelings-fear and excitement. I have felt it my whole life, but never thought much about it until my newphew had this experience.
When I was five, I remember an experience where my Nana thought a bear was in an old camper next to the house--my grandfather was looking in the camper and my Nana was screaming out the window for my grandfather to come inside. I remember all of us kids were very scared. Perhaps that was why we feared bears? But since my nephews expereince, I feel it is much more. Even as an adult, movies with bears in it, especially bear attacks, always bring up deep, strong feelings.
My whole I have had these feelings, but never identified it. My sister has too. I sense it in my mother too, whenever we talk about camping or when a bear roams into a town somewhere. Its a feeling that is very hard to explain.
I believe my nephews memories are from a past life. Perhaps that is why we all have anxious feelings about bears. It was uncomfortable to hear my 5 year old newphew talk about being mauled by a bear---but at the same time, I had this feeling deep down inside that it all made sense.
