I'm so fascinated reading all these stories! And I want to thank Carol for
writing her book and for this website. I devoured that book while on
vacation some years ago and wouldn't tire of it if it had gone on forever.
I have a 10 year old son, a 5 year old son and a 19 month old daughter. The 5 year old has always seemed other-worldly to me, even before his birth. His name is Will though we call him Willy for the most part at home. I know that there are spirits with Will because of things that happened during his infancy. I'm not surprised that of my three children he seems to be the one with past life recall.
Will didn't talk coherently until he was about 3 and half years old so it was around this time that we started understanding all about Ghost Willy, his "imaginary" friend who looked just like him. Ghost Willy was very interested in battles and war and they played army man together a lot. Will
told us about Ghost Willy getting shot in the war, how he died and that's
why he's a ghost now. It took us forever to figure this out though because
"Ghost" sounded like "hode" when he pronounced it. I'm guessing Ghost Willy
had been "around" since Will was 2 and a half. The war fascination came
after that.
Late last summer (Will was 4 and a half) Ghost Willy had to go away. I was
sad to see him go and asked why he wasn't around anymore. Will said Ghost
Willy was going to be a baby again. I asked if we'd get to talk to him
anymore and Will said when he got old enough to talk again then we would. I
was pretty much dropped-jawed at this because my husband's spiritual beliefs
are very traditional so we don't discuss things like reincarnation much,
though I do allude to life before and after death in a generalized way with
the children which would befit typical Christian beliefs.
Funny thing is, Will *doesn't* talk about Ghost Willy anymore except in the
past tense. But he has started describing similar war stories that are now from "when *he* used to be a grown up." I don't know if he used Ghost Willy as a bridge between his past life and this one, if Ghost Willy was someone else or Will himself, if he transferred those stories onto himself
now...it's all a big question mark for me but I'd be interested in hearing others' thoughts about it.
Will has never shown any signs of trauma and seems very matter of fact about
death. The only health issues he has (and I can't relate them to this) are a mild eating disorder which makes him very small for his age but otherwise healthy (it's beyond 'picky' but not so bad he needs a doctor for it) and severe vision problems that have been corrected with glasses.
He's completely devoted to being an army man when grows up (*this* time), specifically dealing with tanks as this is what he did "as a grown up." I admit I've been very dissuasive about that career track and am not above guilting him out of it but it doesn't work. We have a huge Rubbermaid Roughneck container full of army men and he
can't stop himself from wanting more.
I just wanted to share our story with everyone and sort of introduce myself.
I can tell already that I'll be visiting often.
