How do I approach the subject of reincarnation to my sons, Jon 11 1/2, and Aaron, 8, when supposed dominant western culture in America dictates that it does not exist?

How can I help them wake up their past lives so that they can learn from them and heal and maybe take care of unfinished business? With Jon he was a nice baby until 5 years old. We moved to chadron, NE and something snapped, like a tidal wave of a previous memory of a life before this one. He now has difficulty controlling his emotions. I wonder if we moved to a place he had lived before this life, that was not particularly pleasant.

Hi Braveheart,

Well, you could present them with stories of different cultural beliefs around reincarnation. Like the Buddhists, Sufi's or some American Indian tribes; and ask them what they think.

You could, ask them about their dreams, and if any of them seemed REAL but not of this time period. Then ask them what they think. Without telling them what you think. Allow them to express themselves first.

Just a few first thoughts...I'll keep thinking though and be back later.

I'm with Deborah on that one. I would start talking about other cultures beliefs on reincarnation. Slowly start incorporating these views into your household. Ask them about dreams, and feelings.

Hi Braveheart.
I go with Deborah and Sophie too. There are some wonderful stories about reincarnation from different cultures which would make a good starting point. Or even films like 'Little Budha' which you could all watch together to set the ball rolling.
I talk about it with my son who is quite comfortable with the subject now.
