How to Help

Hello,
I'm here looking for advice on how to help my son who seems to be troubled by his past life.

When he was about 3, he would occasionally tell me that he missed his friends and how "they shot me in the head, then I was dead".

He is now 6, but whenever he feels frustrated or sad, he either says he wants to shoot himself in the head or uses his hand to gesture a gun shooting his head.

He seems to be very stuck on this, and I fear for what may happen in the future.

Is there any way I can help clear this up for him.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Karen

Welcome to the forum, Karen. I can see why your son's memories are worrisome for you. If you haven't already, you should begin by reading Carol Bowman's book, "Children's Past Lives". How old is he at this point? Can you gently ask questions when he brings the subject up? Ask him to tell you about his friends. If it's any comfort, one of my brothers started to discuss suicide when he was two, and talked about it until the age of five. He wasn't a suicidal teenager, or adult. So, as the past life memories fade, any suicidal tendency sometimes goes with them. I still understand your concerns, and am glad that you are addressing the situation.

You can contact Carol directly from this site. She knows therapists all over the country. She is a therapist herself. I would ask her what she recommends doing.

I do agree, Carol is an excellent choice. She can point you in the right direction and, reading her books will help you understand as well.

Good luck to you.
