Is there such a thing as being sensitive to animals and their emotions?

Is there such a thing as being sensitive to animals and their emotions? Like, really sensitive?
I hope this isn't a dumb question....
I'm super new here but have been wandering the boards for a while now haha.

I know I'm pretty sensitive to people. Like displeasure is something I'm extremely sensitive to. I feel like I can tell if someone is upset and it gives me extreme anxiety. I can tell if something is off. It makes me frustrated and anxious and I feel the whole 'fight or flight' thing going on. I get nervous in social situations because there is just so many people and everything is clashing and it's crazy.

But I feel like that the same way with animals almost??? I really hope that doesn't sound weird. I've been in tune with nature and animals since I was incredibly young.

Is there such thing as animal sensitivity???

Coffee Cat wellllllcome to forum. Yes it's possible. I feel also vibrations and with social situations I am similar case. You are sensitive and it's just as well. Perceive it how gift of uniqueness : angel

I'm also super sensitive to peoples emotions Coffee :) It can get very overwhelming in social situations, and I often get anxious. I think you can be sensitive to animals, just as you can people! I feel very connected with my cat and get very frustrated with others if they're making her feel uncomfortable.

Being 'sensitive' to things, I think, is a rather wide spectrum. Some people can detect strong emotions, others can detect subtle emotions, and some can feel what several are feeling at once~ It's just a matter of how open you are to these things :D

Animals also have energy, so I think that it's just natural that you would feel that way. I read that even rocks have energy. Who knew, right? I never thought that they emit energy, since they don't even grow and move.

I also have come across some psychic services where people offer to read your pets's emotions and thoughts, so I think they use telepathy too to communicate to each other or read them.

Yeah so I'm not the only one haha!

I hope this doesn't sound weird but I'm really close to my livestock, like my sheep and my alpacas? Also my hogs when I was in 4-H. I remember always forming the closest bond with my pigs. They are so intelligent it was almost easy to bond with them. I loved those days. Now I'm really attached to my sheep. I used to think sheep were dumb creatures but I don't think nature makes dumb creatures. Sheep do what they need to do to survive. I could literally sit with them all day and they come up for scratches and one of them tries to lay in my lap even though she's like 150+lbs haha.

I also remember when I was 5 we had a cat, and he was with us for about 10 years. When I was young, I used to tease him all the time, and I feel like a year or so before his death we became a lot closer. Like the past between us was just water under the bridge... We got really close the months leading up to his passing... it was magical in a way. I ended up loving that cat.

I don't think I would be happy if I didn't have an animal companion.

I have dreams about our deceased pets once in a while and I'm always so happy to see them and they're always so happy to see me haha.

We got our cat when I was 5 and being a young kid I used to like pull on his tail and chase him around. So he hated me for the longest time!

I think all little kids do that to their pets because they don't really know any better haha.

Yeah, my most friendly sheep is probably the heaviest one I have. She's a sweetheart though, she paws at my leg when she wants to be scratched and she'll try to get in my lap if I sit down.

I guess my former pets weren't "attached" to me because I have never dreamed about them at all. But it's understandable, since I was busy in school and I hardly had time to bond with them when they were around.

You're lucky that your cat didn't attack you, my cat has a habit of attacking me when I'm talking on the phone, shouting, or when he has had enough petting. You must be a rowdy kid, or an Aries? I know an ADULT Aries, a former friend of mine who still pulls the tails of her pets and my cat too, like she's manhandling them! As a kid I never did that to any of my cats, I'm quite gentle with them.

You must own a farm then? I know people who have sheep as pets have one?

Haha, my cat attacked me plenty when I was younger. Like I remember one time he jumped on me and tried to bite the back of my neck? Talk about the killing blow. He was a kitten then though so it didn't hurt me at all. I was a rowdy kid haha!

Like I said it was only the last year or so he was alive that we kind of came to terms. I wish he had lived longer, because our relationship was just taking flight. - Ah I'm a Gemini haha -

Aw yeah I'm a farm girl at heart ;)

Raised hogs for 4-H for 7 years, then once I graduated I bought some sheep, and alpacas for protection. The sheep have since had babies haha.

I have to tell you a story here. So my very first ewe ended up having twins back in Feb. Which is uncommon for a yearling ewe to have twins I was honestly just expecting one lamb. But anyways, baby #2 was very small but healthy. I named her Irene haha. But it was like the 4th day they were here and the other lamb got out and mama followed that escaped lamb, leaving Irene in the lambing pen by herself. ~ After some chasing around, I reunited Irene with the rest of her family and we've had the closest bond since then.

As a lamb she'd come up to me and let me pet her! Now she's 7 months old and the nicest lamb I have. ~ Some weird connection happened there when I picked her up and reunited her. Honestly.

Oh yes, I am also very sensitive to animals, I know what you mean. :) A big part of why I am vegetarian....I just can't do it. Something cute I thought you might enjoy:

this is currently my 5 yo son's favorite song/video. He loves the part that says "Lobsters and mice are your friends" the most and when he asked what lobsters say and I taught him to say "don't eat me!" (he is autistic and very connected to animals, he fell in love with a sheep at the school farm where they keep all the 4-H animals). :P It's so cute!

Oh boy that is cute.

You made my day thanks!!!!

~ Love the elephant in the video.

I have massive trouble eating beef and pork and lamb because I've raised all three in the past/present and love them all dearly.

I've fallen in love with my boyfriends cats. His aunt has two of them and they are so sweet! One is about 10 and the other is like 18 and falling apart, poor boy!!!

Like he is literally starting to have old man moments...

But they are so sweet and they come over to me and lay in my lap, which they hardly do with anyone else. The old one is such a sweetheart!!!! He looks so crusty and sunken in everywhere I love it. ~ You can feel him wasting away slowly though. Or I can at least.

I am in tune with cats but I hang around them more than dogs or other critters. So, I would say yes there is. Cats are very physic and I think they communicate vie some telepathy, the miew is just for daft humans..

I love dogs, but cats are a one of a kind haha

Both dogs and cats can be pretty in tune with people, but I feel a stronger connection to cats, personally.

I mean I love my dog to bits but it's not the same haha.

~ I was over at the bfs house doing homework this evening, and we were taking a break to watch football on the couch haha. The older cat came over and jumped in my lap, and got his face nestled up in the crook of my neck. He always has the same expression on his face, but I could kind of tell he was somewhat content. I think he wanted something warm to lay on. Plus I think he knows that I like him so hes okay with sitting with me.

This is gonna sound maybe weird but I can feel my energy mingling with his I think. Mine is white and the cats is dark blue. It looks like little threads connecting with each other.

And that old cat had to be put down today..... :(

Maybe he was saying goodbye to me yesterday when he crawled in my lap? Maybe he knew he was getting ready to pass... I remember thinking yesterday when I wrote that last post, that this old cat ain't gonna last much longer.

Like I literally was thinking, "he's beginning to take his leave"

Poor guy.

Hope he wasn't in too much pain.

It was my bfs Aunt's bottle baby cat, and shes so upset over it understandably. I thought about the Aunt today too, and I had chest pains when I thought about her...

Oh, I am so sorry cover face

My cat habitually attacks my feet.

Yeah.... he was old and ready to go I'm sure.

He'd been eating off and on for a month or so, so that's always a sign that they're slowly starting to wander...

Ugh even with the short time of me knowing him I really started to like the old guy!!! He was so crusty... and always had eye boogers and was so old feeling haha.

I'm so glad he sat with me, even if it was just for a few minutes...

Ah boy maybe tmi here but all this stress is giving me hives UGH like on my neck and behind my ears and on my belly gosh...

I Believe!!!

Call it wishful thinking, call it dreaming silly thoughts, call it foolishness, call it anything you like, but as for me, IMHO, I truly believe, without any doubts, that we WILL see our pets, who went into Spirit before us, and are patiently waiting for us to come home, our REAL home.

I don't know who thought up the "The Rainbow Bridge", but for something that has brought such peace and comfort for so many people (including me) I'm all for it, and call me, not grounded in reality, but one very often needs an "Anchor" in such times of despair and extreme sorrow and as for me, I'll anchor my sorrows on the "The Rainbow Bridge" and all of us will have fond memories of companions temporarily gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.

Has the "The Rainbow Bridge" helped you to cope with your loss?

Why yes it has but mostly via paranormal activity :)

I had a dream last night about one of my ewe sheep that recently got taken by a cougar. Got to pet her and everything. So that was nice!

For CoffeeCat

CoffeeCat, I'm truly sorry for your recent loss of one of your ewes, for while she was killed, IMHO her "essence" was not destroyed, but only transformed into another form that we cannot see at the moment, being still trapped in this prison of flesh and bones.

But one day in the future, we shall step through the "Veil" and our old, cloudy eyes will be opened to the sight of your ewe running towards you to greet you in your real home.

I have no doubt that while we sleep and dream that we commune with those on the other side of the veil and that you were granted a rare chance to remember your encounter. :)

I had an experience when my best friend was dealing with several kittens dying from an illness. (on the other side of the world)

I decided to send her some emotional support and maybe a bit of healing to the kittens, too. While I was meditating, one of them must have died, because I suddenly felt this kitten was suddenly strutting up my arm (you know how they are) and nuzzling my neck. I tried to send it back into its body, but it did the usual independent cat thing, and ignored me.

I texted my friend to see what had happened, and she confirmed that one of the kittens was dead. It helped her feel better to know the kitten was fine on the other side, though.

Since then, I don't doubt that our pets continue on in their own way. I imagine they go on according to their nature, and probably even reincarnate, too.

It's always a gift to dream about deceased pets. I remember being so happy, but then when I wake up, I'm left with the bittersweet memory of it all.

For the longest time, even to this day, I still from time to time have dreams about our old cat we had for 10 years. He passed back in 2010. I'm always so happy to see him and I make a conscious effort not to wake up in my dreams. Like I'm completely lucid. Just run over and pet and hug and cuddle an old friend... it's magical to say the least.

I like to believe that animals reincarnate as well...
