Kade remembers his last name

If I remember correctly Kade's mother and father were at least separated. Otherwise, how would Todd come into the picture?

Maybe kade's dad had a store in New York City and either lived there or spent time there. Kade, his mom and siblings could have still lived in N. Dakota.

Kids don't just come up with the names of cities and states like that. Not four year old kids. My son is 6 and a half, has been in school well over a year and I don't think he could pull the year 1921 out of a hat or even understand that is a year someone could have been born. Or how long ago that might have been.

That is exactly what I thought. Where in the world would he come up with 1921? I do not think he even knows this is 2006.

I was thinking maybe Todd was an uncle or maybe a relative who was involved with his other mother. He did say Todd lived with them and he had seen them kissing. He did not like it because Todd was mean.

When he mentioned 1921 I wondered about the Moon Tag game because he recognized the box and was so excited when he saw it. That game was from 1959 if I remember right.

His mommy was born in 1970. I guess I could say she almost was not born because I was carrying another pregnancy which would have ended in the time frame where she could not have been conceived. After the miscarriage and surgery, I went for a checkup weeks later and was surprised I was pregnant again. So maybe there is a greater plan for everyone on earth.
 
The whole discussion about Grandpa D blows me away. There are so many directions that could go! Did he mean another "spirit" that resembled Grandpa D's spirit or does he mean Grandpa D, when he was younger? It makes me wonder about details from Grandpa D's life. Did he lose a wife before Kade's mother was born? Maybe Kade was going to be born at an earlier time and for some reason had to wait.

I thought about the time frame between 1921 and 1959, also. I believe he's genuine about 1921 - - children his age don't have a concept of years and dates yet. Heck, they're barely learning numbers! Maybe he's remembering more than one life time. This puts a twist on things, for sure.

Wow! That is amazing! I agree that there's definitely a greater plan than what we all realize.

Good luck with everything Kitn. When I get more time, I'll see if I can do more research on the new info.
 
This morning I believe I found out where he came up with New York City. He had been playing a game cube game called Madagascar over the weekend with his cousin. They had fun playing so I thought I would buy him on online. I found one that had the description in it and it said the the animals go through the city of New York doing or searching for something. So that is solved.

Grandpa D is my father and my mother died in 2004. They were married over sixty years. My father is in a nursing home because he has Alzheimer's. Kade does not see him very often and when he does my Dad does not know him or me or anyone. All he remembers is my mother. I have an older sister and a younger brother. My father never was tolerant of children. We were to be seen and not heard. He changed when his grandkids came along and was a wonderful, fun and loving grandpa. My father was born in 1921. Kade does not know this although we do say grandpa is 85 but there is no way Kade could subtract 85 from 2006 because he does not even know this is 2006. Kade has not seen grandpa D since the first of August because they are so busy on the new house fixing it up. Grandpa D does not even know how old he is now or when he was born either.

I got a new great-granddaughter yesterday. She looks exactly like Kade's mother when she was born. She has a head full of black hair. Her name is Adrianna Denise and I can't wait to see her. All I saw was a cell phone picture because I am keeping her older brother while mom is in hospital. I saw one of those 3-D imaging pictures while she was still in the womb. I had never seen one before and it was so amazing.
 
Has Kade seen a picture of your father when he was younger that he is mentally referring to? Something in me is telling me that it's more of a "spiritual" look than a visual look.

Kade is bright, but I'm with you on the subtraction!

Congratulations on the new grandbaby! I'm expecting my first grandchild in March! :D
 
I wonder if Adrianna Denise knows what a wonderful grandmother she has. And I'm sure there's no way Kade could do the math about grandpa D's age. The New York/game connection is a good catch. Your story continues to enthrall me.

Remember When Kade was talking about the old ice box, candles and the outhouse? Maybe these are things that occured in a past life Kade had in the 1920's, and when Kade was talking about being born in 1921 maybe he is talking about another past life one which occured in the 1920's.

Do you think it is possible that is what is happening here? It must be confusing to him. No he has not seen a picture of my father in younger years. I have a picture of him and my mother in the hallway, but they are older there.

It does seem that no electric, bathroom or running water could be older than when he says he lived with his other mother. Today I drove to pick him up. On the way home we passed the horse farm that gives lessons. He saw a beautiful paint and said he wanted a big one like that one. I asked him if he would be scared and he said no. I asked him if he ever rode a big horse besides the little one at the Halloween Fair last year. He said "my other father used to take me riding way back in the hills." He had said before his other father took him riding, but he never said on what. Because he had recognized an old car I took it for granted it was in a car.

I am not familiar with the landscape of North Dakota. I know there are hills there, but are there plains or flat ground? If one lived in a flat area then "way back in the hills" would make sense to me. I then asked him what they did when they went way back in the hills and he told me they had to check the cowboys. I asked him check for what and he told me they (cowboys?) had horses there. I then asked what did they do there and he replied "I guess they were looking for Indians." The mind of a four year old wanders I think.

I wanted to share something I read today. Adrianna Denise is not a very common name I would think. My new grand daughter was born Thursday morning. She was supposed to be named Tegan Danielle. After she was born the mother changed her mind. Today when looking in the obituaries I saw the name of a girl who died Tuesday. She died from the same disease Kade's father has-primary pulmonary hypertension; she was 16 the same age as my Casey. The girls name who passed away is Adrianna Denise Anderson. Her obituary was not in yesterdays paper and my daughter, the grandmother, said this is really a weird coincidence.
 
The more your story unfolds Kitn, the more I wonder if your family isn't Soulful. I'd also watch Kade's reaction to Adrianna Denise. What a heartwarming story this continues to be.

As for Kade, just keep paying attention. I think things will eventually unfold.
 
I will listen as I should have with Casey. I thought it was just child tales when she talked of drowning in a well and her grandmother could not save her. Kade was different, he just kept on repeating and expanding. I am sorry I don't know what "soulful family" is, could you please tell me. Thanks, got to go to Kade's this morning and check out the carpenters work.
 
Kitn, by Soulful Family, I simply meant that it seems like you and Kade connect and relate on a deeper level than a lot of people. Now, possibly Adrianna Denise will be just the same way. They are lucky to have a grandmother who understands.

I got a call this morning and they took my father to the hospital. He has sepsis due to kidney failure. The doctor does not think he will be able to come out of it. If you remember Kade had told me before that I used to ride a red motorcycle. Now Kade brings up the year 1921 and that is when Dad was born. I am wondering now if maybe Kade has some kind of gift and he does not know how to express what he is feeling. Just a thought I had.

Kitn, I'm so sorry to hear about your father. Yes, I think it's possible that Kade somehow knew this was going to happen. He seems very receptive to memories, so his spiritual side must be aware of many things. Peace and calm to you and your family.

Kade Said "Dope"

Hi all,

I've just started reading the thread about Kade and his past life. I was taken aback when he talked about making dope. There is a recipe, probably handed down orally, called "Dope" and it was often made by the poor. It would include adding in lots of leftovers and the yucky stuff like chicken fat and herbs and making sort of a poor man's stew. I've seen it referenced in books and my grandmother talked about it. I would guess that it became less well known some time in the 70's.

long time lurker, first time poster; and what a way to make my entrance than to elaborate on this comment, but...!

this struck me as sounding an awful lot like making honey oil, which is a good way to get a quality high out of bunk pot. a lot of people make it using butane, i think, but 'back in the day' it was common to boil marijuana leaves and flowers in alcohol to extract the oil. putting his hands around his mouth could be referring to a way to try and collect the smoke when smoking the honey oil, however it was done (as opposed to using some other kind of smoke collector, like a cut-open plastic pop bottle these days).

i'm not sure what he meant by the 'using trucks' comment, though, but you had to use very pure isopropyl alcohol, not rubbing alcohol, so maybe it has something to do with that...?

anyway, just a thought that seemed to tie in with the whole hippie angle.

kade sounds like a wonderful child, kitn, and you are so blessed to have him in your life!
 
Hi Chloe, I was really interested in the potential meaning of Kade's explanation of 'making dope'. It does seem to fit pretty well. I was intrigued by the 'trucks' comment too so checked out whether or not there are any slang words for drugs like this. It may be completely off the mark, but apparently amphetamines are nicknamed 'truck drivers'.

Kitn - I hope you, Kade and your family are doing really well. I'd love to hear how you're all doing.
 
thanks for the warm welcome - i wish i had some interesting tales to tell of my own children (4 and 1), but so far, nothing! and personally, nothing either. but reincarnation has always fascinated me, and it makes so much sense, really. anedotes like these just convince me further.

interesting take on the 'truck' comment, klarry; i had never heard of that slang before, but then, i know pretty much nothing about (meth)amphetamines aside from what i've read, or seen on tv.

kitn, i would love an update, too! i hope all is well.
 
A lurker who just had a thought on this...

Hi, I have been reading about Kade for the past year and I find your story very fascinating (and your relationship with your grandson heartwarming).

But anyway, I was reading various translations of a poem today by Paul Celan, Todesfuge, which means "Fugue of Death." It's about the Nazi's, concentration camps, etc., but I was struck by this line, ""Tod ist ein Meister aus Deutschland." "Tod" means "death" or "dead" in German, correct?

That might be what Kade meant when he said "my name was also Todd." I don't know. It just jumped out at me, out of nowhere. Maybe "Todd" isn't a name, but a name for a state of being.

Just a few thoughts.

I have read this with loads of interest and wanted to add some things.

Soda - In my area of Minnesota many people over 40 still tend to say "Can of Soda".

3d Lake - Could this be "Treaty" Lake. Many of the lakes in the boundry waters have been refered to as such.

Can't wait to hear more about this adorable child.
 
Hello Again

Hi, sorry I have not posted in such a long time. My father passed away in October. We took Kade to the wake and he was not upset at all. He knew he was not alive and we were saying farewell to Grandpa. Kade did ask us when he is coming back? We said we did not know and he was satisfied with that answer. He did say Grandpa will come back when they tell him he has to go back. He never says who "they" are.

We have been so busy with legal issues, the holidays and then I just rested. I have been caregiving since 2002 and was just wore out emotionally and physically. I did come read a bit in the forum.

Kade is doing well. He does not speak very often of his "other family." A few weekends ago he and another cousin spent the night with me. They were playing Vsmile and in one game the cartoon man rides a horse. Kade said this is going to be easy. His cousin laughed and said "you can't ride a horse Kade." With that Kade told him yes he could and that he had a horse when he lived with his other mother. Isaiah made fun of him and called him a liar and told him "your crazy you don't have another mother." Kade looked at him very seriously and told him yes he did and he had a horse named Rocker and he used to ride him. Isaiah looked at me and asked if Kade had another mother. I did not know what to say so just smiled at Isaiah. Kade then told his cousin that he used to live in North Dakota. Isaiah really started laughing and told him you never lived there Kade stop lying. Isaiah began teasing Kade so Kade just ignored him and continued playing. I can see now why children do not talk about things that may be about another time or family. They get teased for it. If anyone has some suggestions on how to handle a situation such as this I could use some input. I did not want to tell Kade not to say anything in front of others. I also did not like Isaiah teasing him. I did tell him to stop making fun of Kade. I was lost on what to do or say.

Kade's birthday is the end of this month; he will be five. He is not happy about this. He does not want to be five. He has been asking all kinds of questions about dying and he cries. His mom said we should not say the word death, dying or talk about Casey or his grandparents when he can hear us because for some reason it is upsetting him lately. I think it is his birthday coming up. He says he was five when he was killed when he was the other boy. Maybe he is fearful it will happen again.

Last weekend was very windy. Kade and his mom flew a kite. He was so proud he got it up all by himself. He had a great time. I babysat him a few days after that and he was telling me how he did it by himself. He asked me if I ever flew a kite and I told him yes I have. He told me he thinks he flew a kite a long, long time ago with his other mother. He then asked if the kite breaks from the string where does it go. I told him the wind carries it away and it probably lands somewhere far away where we can't see it. He did not lose his kite last weekend. He showed me how he reeled it back in. I asked him why he wanted to know where a kite would go if it broke loose from the string and he told me his kite with his other mother flew away.

Got to go watch my programs. I enjoyed the thread on the boy in Scotland. I hope they air it in the USA.

It sounds like Kade is growing up and starting to live more this life, so to speak. :thumbsup: It's possible he's so worried about the age of five, because he died at that age the last time. Maybe you could try to reassure him it's not going to happen this time around? Although if he's mum doesn't want you to talk about dying, that's difficult. :o

I tried to think what I would've done when Isaiah was teasing Kade, but I couldn't think of anything very good. :( I'm sure someone will have good advice. It's important to tell children never to tease others, of course, but telling about reincarnation to Isaiah would've been too much for him probably. And I don't think it's a good idea to tell Kade not to talk about it to others... So, I'm clueless. :confused:

Anyway it was great to hear how you two are doing!

My son received some teasing like that but it was from an adult uncle. I think most people don't leap to the idea that a child could be talking about a past life. I was kind of forced to let it go. Later I spoke with his wife and told her some of the things our son had been saying and i told her that although I hadn't previously believed in reincarnation, I have since the moment our son started talking.

I know my sister-in-law spoke with her husband and I also know my son would never say anything again. In your case Kitn, I might try talking to the Isaiah's mother and tell her what Kade has said. You don't have to even say that you believe him. Tell her that Isaiah has teased him some about it. She will know how to speak with her son or she may choose not to. Trouble is, that will only help with Isaiah. I also told my son that not everyone remembers their past life and therefore doesn't believe in it. I told him he is lucky he can remember his.

My son also was afraid to turn 4 for the same reason but it was because he thought I would die. Even though I was not his mother in another life, his past life mother did die when he was 4.

I love reading about Kade. Thanks for posting an update.

BTW, the memories do seem to fade especially as it becomes more difficult for the child to express them due to social pressure and their little lives just get so busy with the here and now. I think that is the way it is supposed to be.

I agree with the others -- that it's a difficult situation to be in with Kade and Isaiah, but I think you did the right thing by not saying anything at the time to confirm or deny Kade's claims in front of his cousin.

Perhaps as Vicky did with her son -- you can take Kade aside and explain that not everyone remembers other mommies like he does -- and let him know that's the reason some people don't understand when he talks about his other family.

Reassure him -- that he can always talk to Mommy and Grandma -- and tell him how special he is to you ;)

So in general, in Western societies, it could be good to tell the children who remember that not everyone does. And say that they really are priviledged - that should make them pround of themselves, which obviously is a good thing. :)

Teasing

Thanks... Isaiaha's mother has known, with interest, about Kade. Isaiaha knew nothing. I did not want to stop Kade, but also did not want to inform Isaiaha about reincarnation. I did stop him from teasing his cousin but you know boys they are relentless. I wonder how many children do remember things about a possible past life. I don't remember anything...matter of fact it is getting harder to remember a week ago for me. The things that stand out in my life are special moments and tragic events. I remember everything, every word, every emotion and feeling in the events which scarred my life. If there is reincarnation maybe it will be things I take with me. Maybe sometimes when one feels they have done that or been there before is a slight memory of another time. In a way it would be nice to take the happy times and memories of loved ones, but heartbreaking to remember the bad things. I suppose I am still skeptical because it cannot be proven by science. I then look at some of the cases I have read and I know there is no way one can remember dates, names and places of things have no knowledge of. It is a facsincating mystery.
 
Kade is 5 years-old

Yeah! He made it, he is five tomorrow. He has not been very happy about this birthday coming. He kept asking questions about dying and seemed concerned with death. My daughter took him to register for kindergarten and since then he has started talking daily about his other mother. He seems a little bit more excited about starting school. He said he did not get to go last time. He told us about how his other mother wore dresses with flowers on them. The dress was long not short. She had long hair and wore it in what he calls pony tails. He had shown us a picture of two braids once and I do not know if that is what he means by pony tails.

Last night he asked me how far is it to North Dakota. I told him it was very far away. He still says his last name was Sherlin. I asked him if he knew what his first name was and he said "Kade." I said no before when you had another mother. He said I think they called me Max. I said that is your dogs name. He said I know we have the same name. He is the one who named the dog. I do not think this is true. I think he is intertwining memories.
