I printed the picture of the Challenger crew but it didn't have names to identify who was who. I knew the women but had no idea which man was Micheal J. Smith. This is probably gonna sound so dumb, but I went over to Matthew (who went to bed at the unusual time of 8pm) and just sat down beside him and asked which one was Mike. Matthew didn't wake up or even move, but all of a sudden, it was like, I knew which one was Mike. I had turned off the computer for the night, but the feeling that I knew which one he was, bugged me so much, that I had to try to find something to see if I was right. And I was!! I will let Matt see the photograph after nursery school tommorrow and see what he says.

A friend of mine just called and said that she needed to talk to me. She seemed very upset and said that Matthew had told her some things that someone his age shouldn't know about. I guess you can tell that I haven't told her anything about Matthew. She said that while visiting her last week, Matthew told her about getting shot in the arm and how the bullet pierced his artery. (Matt's words) He went on to show her his left arm and where the bullet went in. (It was between his wrist and his elbow on the inside of his arm).

Deborah,
I agree with you about not trusting just any psychic because there ARE a lot of them out there who are out for money or who have become so famous that they don't have time for quality. But, I do believe that true psychics can help others around them and, in fact, are here to do just that. I haven't read any of Rosemary Altea's other books, although I intend to. I suggested "The Eagle and the Rose" because it was very reassuring to me when I was having difficulty adjusting to a whole new way of thinking so I thought it might be helpful to Mattsgma as well. And, no, I didn't think you had singled me out, but I also didn't want her to think that all psychics are fakes and charlatans. I think with all the suggestions she's getting, she'll end up with something that will hit home and help her help Matthew. That's the wonderful thing about on-line communities...you get so many ideas to choose from

I showed Matthew the picture of the crew of Challenger. He picked out two men, both of whom he said looked like Mike. One was the pilot.

Hi Mattsgrma
Heh…looks like you’re getting somewhere over there…you’re even tuning into your own AND Matt’s senses now (as you did to find the pilot)…and probably didn’t even realise the significance at the time….see how Matthew’s opening your eyes up to so much.

How did it go with the friend??? Did you explain anything to her at all??? I hope it all went well…my thoughts are with you both.

When Matthew was 2 or 3 months old, he was laying beside me on the sofa. Sometime during the early morning, I woke up, feeling the coldest that I have ever felt, a different kind of cold, and Matthew was on the floor looking at me. Could this have been a 'guardian angel' kinda thing, telling me that he wasn't on the sofa anymore? Stephanie, my sisters 3 yr old granddaughter, stayed with us for the past couple of days. She was at the table the other day, and said 'When Jesus comes back, he is bringing GooGoo (my father) with him, GooGoo will come back.' Stephanie really hasn't been taught about Jesus. No-one was even talking about my dad at the time and this just came up all of a sudden.

Matthew acting real wild and weird today. He climbed on top of the tv, he was running around in circles, when I told him to do something, he would say 'make me'. When I walked past him, he tried to trip me, just acting totally unusual for Matthew. When I finally got him to sit down and talk to me, he told me that (his words-) someone was talking in his head telling him to act crazy. Where did this come from?!

Hi Mattsgrma
Well I’m certainly no specialist, so I feel ill-advised to say what it was that made Matt that way – had he eaten anything that could of set off his hyperactivity and behaviour???…Maybe sweets, ice-cream, or something with “E” numbers or other additives…I know a lot of children who can react in this way to certain foods around this age…and I’ve seen a few “crazy” half hours or so from my friends children in such cases until they found the underlying cause and ingredient.

Of course, one of the best options would probably be to sit him down again when he’s in one of his more talkative moods and ask him again - what he meant by his comment…and maybe you will find out more this way. Explain to him also maybe, that only HE is responsible for his behaviour and he should never let any one else tell him what to do or how to act…just as a little reminder.

Well, today is Matthews 4th birthday. He had a rough weekend and it ran over into today. Today, while bringing Matthew home from preschool, he told his mother that he wanted to commit suicide and had thought about how to do it. He was gonna open the door while she was driving and jump out. When his mother asked him what he thought would happen then, Matthew told her that he would hit the road then roll a few feet and probably get hit by another car. I can't even imagine what she was thinking about once her (now) 4 yr old said this. She got here and told me about it, and when Matthew found out that she had told me, he looked at her very hateful and called her a jerk. Both of us were so stunned that we couldn't speak. He told me that he wanted his real mother. And I said that Brandy was his real mother and Matthew said no, she is not. So, I asked him who he thought his real mother was. He just looked at me and grinned and said that I would never understand, but once Scotty used to be his real mother. He saw the surprised look on my face and turned away saying something like, I told you that you would never understand. Matthew is normally a loving little boy, but something has happened lately. I wanted to spank him big time when he called his mother a jerk, but I don't understand what he is going through. We don't 'monitor' his food, but between his mother, greatgrandmother and I, we are the only ones to fix him his food and we don't normally give Matthew any type of sweets, not even koolaid. He has just run into a violent spell all of a sudden. Saturday, while I went to wash a load of clothes, Matthew disapeared. I found him on the front porch with his chin in his hands and his eyes filled with tears. I asked him what was wrong, and he said that he just needed to think about his life and it was at a sad part right now. Saturday night,we were watching the history channel while Matt was asleep. It was about the screaming eagles in the 101st unit in Viet Nam. Alot of what Matthew has talked about was in this documentary. And at one time, he even woke up and watched it for a second. A man was talking about how horrible it was and how the helicopters would land on the ground and pick up the wounded soldiers. Matthew just said 'I know what you mean, man." Then, he went back to sleep.

Dear Mattsgrma
I think you may be interested in the following thread, posted by a mother a few days ago on her 3 year old son’s recent sudden “violent” outbursts, that are very in tune with Matthews by your explanations recently…so I pulle dit up in here and you can read it by following the link: My son’s Pediatrician thinks he may have “past life issues”

It’s so sad to hear about the pain and sadness little Matthew is feeling, I just can imagine how much your heart must ache at these times…just know that a lot of us in here are thinking of him and your family

The World Trade Center thing happened today. Matthew just looked at us and said 'I told you something like this was going to happen' Then he added 'it may not be ta-morning (his word for tommorrow), but very soon, something is going to happen to the little children in the houses, and I don't wanna be around.' He is so sad.

Dear Mattsgrma,
I remember talking to you sometime ago about Matt. I hadn't been following your postings for a while, but have been catching up on his difficulties.
I strongly suggest that you contact Dr. Jim Tucker at UVA about getting some professional help for Matt since he is so depressed. Since Dr. Tucker is a child psychiatrist and a colleague of Dr. Stevenson's, he would be in the best position to help Matt.

Feel free to e-mail me if you would like to discuss this privately or if you need Dr. Tucker's contact information.

We all feel that we would like to help Matt. But I think that his difficulties are beyond our abilities to give sound advice.

Please continue to keep us posted. We are all concerned for your grandson's well-being.

Matthew doing alot better the past couple of days (knock on wood). He still insists that the children are gonna pay for the bad men in the plane, but goes on to say 'we are gonna recover and be smarter in the long run'. His 3 yr old cousin, Stephanie, happened to come in and see the planes hitting the WTC. He turned it to another channel and told her that she was to young to see this. It really sounds weird to hear him say things like this. Last night, while playing in the sand, he put all the sand in a pile and called it a building, then he took a stick and ran it into his building. He said that he had to get rid of the bad guys. He overheard me telling his mother about how he shouldn't watch any more of the news and Matthew just looked at us and told us that 'He had to watch the planes and how it made him close'. The only thing we could figure out was the stuff he told us about his friend in the plane and how he now had closure. I have no idea, but it seems like Matthew is very interested in what took place with the planes and the attacks. It seems like he knows that people actually died and they are not coming back. And he seems like he is handling it hard but strong. (if that makes any sense)

Matthew doing alot better emotionally now. He, however, did run a fever of around 102.9 for a couple of days. I know this sounds stupid, but we just realized that whenever Matthew runs a fever, a plane goes down. (the same thing happened about the time that the plane with Aaliyah? went down). I think he makes himself sick worrying about it. He is still interested in watching the news about the WTC, and still talks about how the children are gonna be the ones to suffer, but he seems to be handling things okay now. He talks about how its gonna be so hard for everybody but we will be okay. He is going to preschool without crying and even went skating with his class yesterday. He wants to be a fireman for halloween. He chose that because of the WTC volunteers and he says that if a fire happens here, he will call 9911. (911), hey he's got the right idea anyway. Well, just checking in. Write back soon.

Matthew went to Hardees tonight with his mother and father. He began talking about a dog that we used to have that died. He told his mother things about the dog that were correct and said that the dog was up in the high with his friend. The only thing is that this dog died before Matthew was born. Matthew never said the name of the dog, but he did describe him and how he had to be taken to the vet to be put to sleep.

The other day, while riding with his mother and father to the store, Matthew was in the back seat talking to his 'friend'. After a while, his mother realized that she heard someone whistle. The stero wasn't on and no car was in close range. Matt's father asked Matthew if he whistled and Matt asked him why and told him that he didn't know how to whistle. Matt's mother asked Matt if his friend was with him and Matthew told her that he was and that his friend was the one that had whistled. Scared Matt's father so much that he turned white and couldn't talk. This was the first time that he had heard things like this, but Matt's mother had been around Matt enough to take it all calmly. I am thinking about me or a family member taking homeschooling classes to teach Matthew at home for his kindergarten year. Is this a good idea or should he go to a private/public school??

Hi, I can't advise you either way on the home schooling issue since I'm not a parent, my thought is though that if you want Matt to feel 'normal' (healthy) then maybe allowing him to go to public/private (which ever one you have him enrolled in) school would be fine. I know from experience though that allowing a child to have social skills is one of the greatest gifts that you can give them.
Hope you're all having a great day. Take Care, -Kathy.

Wow!! That is fascinating that they heard the whistle!. Gave me goosebumps. I was wondering about that teacher of his that he seemed to take a liking to a little bit ago...did anything ever come up with her?

Dear Mattsgma,
I have been following your story in this thread for awhile now. I can feel your anxiety for this precious boy. I have two children of my own, Evan who is now 11, and Avery,(a girl)is 8. I will give you as brief an overview of my story as I can.
Evan has been an unusual child as well. His episodes were not as graphic as Matt's but equally as heartbreaking. Night terrors, hearing voices, depression, talk of killing himslf at age 7. My mom died when Evan was 6. They were kindred spirits. This seemed to put him over the edge. He is a bright child in the extreme, and wiser things have not come out of the mouths of many adults. He also had what could have been a near death experience at birth.
Anyway..... I started homeschooling Evan and his sister at the beginning of the school year in grade three. I don't know if you've read the book "The Indigo Children", but Evan fits the profile. ALOT of homeschooled children are Indigo. The school system is not for every child. If there is a homeschool group available to you in your area, your child will not lack socialization. It has been proven over and over again that homeschool children are very WELL socialized. They can interact with comfortably with people of any age group-not just their peers. Think about this. When people first went to school in one room, did people worry about socialization? I would feel that the concern now is more for APPROPRIATE socialization in an unnatural setting with peers only. No where else in society do people lump together only with those of the same age. Also, He may have more of an opportunity to meet other indigos in a home school group.
Homeschoolers no longer live in the outback with no communication with the outside world. They volunteer and interact with the community.
You do not need any training to be a great homeschooler. As someone who obviously cares so much for Matt, and you know him best, I know you would be an awesome teacher for him.
All that being said, you can try school, and if it doesn't work, take him out. Nothing is written in stone. Your intuition, and Matt will guide you. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. There are many methods of homeschooling. I would be happy to send you some info if you decide that is your truth. With my hearfelt best wishes, Laurel.

Matthew had a hard night last night, but tonight has been more disturbing. He has woken up 3 times, the last being 10:45pm, sobbing. He has talked each time, but it was this last time that I finally caught on to what he was saying. He kept talking about a car with a bomb, or used as a bomb and killing the Americans. I knew that he had come into the room while the news was on recently and they had been talking about how chemical trucks could be used as a weapon, so I assumed that he was having bad dreams about this. I woke him up enough to let him know that I was beside him and that he was just having a bad dream. He kept insisting that a car was going to kill the Americans. So finally, I went along with what he was saying and told him that the news had reported how a truck could be used and insisted that since he was talking about a car that he had to have been having a nightmare, and even if for some reason, a truck did hit somewhere that it would be far away from here and he would be okay. He must have gotten tired of hearing me talk because he told me in a very grown up voice that A CAR WAS GOING TO BE USED AS A BOMB AND KILL AMERICANS. IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT HE WAS NOT ONE OF THE AMERICANS, IT MATTERED THAT INNOCENT PEOPLE WERE GOING TO BE KILLED. I kinda stood back and said (very meekly), ok. I knew that Matthew was in 'one of his moods' because he used proper names for things (bin laden, world trade center, americans) where when Matthew is just being 4 yrs old, he says things like the bad man, the big buildings or the sad buildings. (If something happens like this with a car being used for a weapon, I am not sure what I am going to do!) As far as his teacher goes, Matthew sees her on a regular basis, but when he turned 4 yrs old, he was moved to a 'big boy' room. I am still not sure about his former teachers reaction to what Matthew was telling her, so no-one is pressing the issue right now. And as far as home school/public school goes, even though my head is telling me that Matthew needs to ride the bus every morning and go off to class for the day, I keep thinking about how his poor teacher is gonna react when Matthew tells her how he used to be black, how his friend hit him in the head with a shovel and he died, how he gutted a deer, about his Mauser gun, how his friend, (a pilot named Mike) died in a plane crash or when things start moving around him, or even talking (and now whistling around him) and even more concerned about how Matthew is gonna react when she tells him to sit down and stop making up stories. Right now, he seems to be going through too much for regular school but we have a few months to think about all of this.

For the past month, Matthew has been learning his alphabet in preschool. For the past week, he has been telling me how his other name started with a Q. Is there another language that the name Matthew would start with a Q? In his class, they have only gotten up to the letter E. However, he can pick the letter Q out without hesitation, whereas the rest of the alphabet is still kinda unfamilar to him. We were going through a store today and Q was on one of the signs. Matthew blurted out hey that letter is in my name. Some nice man asked him what his name was and Matthew proudly told him Matthew. The man just looked at me, did a funny number with his eyebrows and walked away. Matthew's grandfather and I have been 'going at it' for a couple of weeks now, about everything, from jobs to kids, grandkids, the house and everything in between. I don't know what it is, but it seems like we can't say anything nice to each other at the same time. One of us will be sweet to the other and the other one will say something totally off the wall and cocky. Anyway, tonight, Matthew asked us why we got married. Caught us off guard completely. He sounded like a short marriage counselor. He said that he thought when 2 people loved each other and got married that they did everything and anything that they could to make the other one happy, and that meant biting our mouth. (I believe he meant tongue!) I don't know what I am going to do with (or what I would do without) that boy.

I, like many others, am intrigued by these postings. I am concerned for this child. Advise from virtual stangers suggesting the help of psychic mediums and hypnotherapists who believe in past lives leaves me uneasy. And so does the use of more conventional methods. I wouldn't risk the mental health of my child on advise given on postings, as well meaning as they are. Research, research, research...ALL options. I'm concerned the focus may shift from the child to the "phenomenon" or "sixth sense". I perceive enouragement not so much for this child to talk about or share what is going on for him but to display further "unique" behaviour. Watch for hidden agendas that may be inadvertently placed on this young boy. Four year olds are incredibley impressionable as you know.
You are in my heart as you strive to find the truth and in your daily lives as you continue to cope with and love this child.

Just checking in. Matthew doing okay. He still goes into those times when he seems older. He can pick bin Laden out of a group of people from that area. He comes running when anything having to do with the attacks/war comes on tv. He told us about how the Taliban was a military group in Afghanistan (didn't even know the kid could say Afghanistan!). He still worries but he seems to be doing better with it. Not sure if I have said so before but for Halloween, Matthew is going as a fireman and little brother, Scotty is going as a dalmation. He wants a baseball cap with the New York firefighter logo on it ( I imagine alot of people do) but if anyone knows how to get one, please let me know.

Checking in about Matthew. He is going through a rough time emotionally these past few days. His mother went home to take a shower last week and found out that her boyfriend, Matthew and Scottys father, had packed his clothes and left. This isn't the first time that something like this has happened with him, but it still hurts. Matthew was playing 'hospital' with his mother yesterday and checked her heartbeat with his stethoscope. He just looked at her so sweet and told her that her heart was broken.

Hello,
I, like many others, have been lurking around your posts for awhile now. Matthew sounds like a wonderful little boy, and very much like my own daughter. She also speaks about things that are far beyond her 4 year old knowledge, and talks extensively about past lives and 'spirit friends'. And she is also a VERY emotional child, to the point that I have sought help from her doctors because I am worried about depression. They want her tested for ADD and other depressive illnesses, however the only treatment for any of these is medication and I am ABSOLUTELY against medicating a child!
Tell me, what type of behaiviors does Matthew exhibit? Is he sensitive? Are his feelings hurt very easily? Would some (maybe even yourself) classify him as a "difficult" child at times? Do you find yourself treating him like he is 'older' than he really is and therefore maybe expecting things out of him that are beyond his 4 year old ability? Also, do tensions seem to raise in your house when he is around and in 'one of his moods' or just in general? How do you deal with all of the things that come up? And do you or your daughter experience any of these this your self?

Please understand that I am asking these questions because of what happens in my OWN house and not to make any implications about Matthew. Sorry if I asked too many questions! Just answer the ones you are comfortable with.

Thank You and God Bless!
Tammy

I read the last post over and over again and even started writing back a couple of times, but I didn't feel right somehow. You see, whatever I say, is just that, whatever I say. I wanted someone else that deals with Matthew on a daily basis to write in also. So, I convinced my son's girlfriend, Stacey, to write about Matthew. She should be writing shortly and as soon as I can, I will write back also. Matthew just came up to me and told me that he was a nice boy and he was nice to other people, then he asked me if I knew why. I didn't know what to say, so I asked him why. And he replied, because I am also a happy little boy. Gonna sign off and go hug that boy. I was just re-reading some of the posts and realized something. Remember when I was talking about the children dying with the car bomb and all? Could Matthew be talking about Oklahoma? When did that happen?
