My 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter is obsessed with the bagpipes

My 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter has loved the bagpipes since she was just a wee thing. I own a Scottish shop and am very active in the Scottish community here in Texas and so Kayla has access to festivals, music, videos, etc which involve the pipes. Her love is so intense though, I suspect a past life as a piper. When listening to the pipes either in person or on tape or video, she does finger movements as if she's playing the pipes and she taps her foot in time just as pipers do. She has also expressed the desire to dance the highland fling and mimics the foot movements of the Highland Dancers. Kayla's Grandpa and I took her to a St Andrew's night dinner and when we arrived the local pipe band was rehearsing. Kayla heard the pipes and had to run to the area they were in. She danced while each piper tuned up and just before the pipe major gave the commands (if you've ever watched a band perform, you know the pipe major shouts out codes to let the band know what number they're playing), Kayla appeared to shout out the commands. When the band performed later for the dinner, she did the same thing. We were floored! This was something new! On Christmas Day, while watching a Scottish Christmas video, I pointed to the castle the camera was scanning and asked Kayla to tell her Daddy what that was...(I love the way she says "castle". She very distinctly said "Balmoral Castle". My son looked at me and said, "Did she say what I think she said?". Her Grandpa and I both said, "I think so!" The castle in the video was not Balmoral, it was Kilchurn, but the only castles we've spoken about in the house in front of Kayla are Edinburgh and Urquhart, because we've been to those.

My spouse is a past life therapist and has done hundreds of past life regressions on clients. Of course, we can't exactly do one on Kayla, but I would like some feedback on this.

Welcome Charlene,

I loved the way you described your daughters love for Scottish music. It seems to come from her heart

I imagine that due to the fact that your husband is a regressionist there is much about the subject you already know. But I would like to share with you an experience I had with my son when he was 7 and which brought forth a past life validation that we had indeed lived together before.

I asked him if he would like to meditate with mommy -listen to the music and "watch" in his mind for any images that may come forth. We turned on Tibetan Bell music and set a timer for 15 minutes (which is long to a child that is normally hyperactive.)

So we did, we held hands during the meditation laying next to each other. When the bell went off he bolted straight up on the bed and said -"Mom did you see all that fog? Wasn't that old Barn cool? We had so much fun!"

Tears welled up in my eyes, for I knew where we were..England..1600 --I too had seen the barn, the fog and remembered playing in that old barn. I remembered him as a very best friend in that life. My name was Kayln and his was Ivan.

There were sparkles in his eyes, and tears in mine. It isn't necessary to 'regress" a child.....doing a meditation with them (and I say WITH so it is a SHARED experience) can be both validating and enlightening for both of you*S*S*S

Thank you for sharing!!!!

Hi,

I'm new here and find these stories facinating. Have you considered renting or borrowing a bag pipe to see if she can play it? Or played some music and see if she can do an authentic dance? I think it would be very interesting.
