My OBE

First off I have to say how much I love this site. It is such a good place to search, research, download, process and get feedback!

All my experiences seem small but significant to me. I have had 2 OBE's. They both happened as I was falling asleep. The first time I felt as if I was hovering about 2 feet above my body. The second I realized what was happening I snapped back onto my body. I thought that if I ever was able to do it again, I would try to make it to the ceiling. Years went by and then it happened again. Just like the first time only this time I remember as I was being snapped back thinking " NO, wait!!" But it happened so fast I couldn't stop it.
I was never scared. It wasn't fear that prevented me. It felt more like realization stopped me. Any suggestions should it ever happen again?

You've probably read about the "silver cord" that is supposed to attach the etheric, or spirit body to the physical one. Maybe you are snapping back into your body from a subconscious fear that you won't be able to get back in? You could try doing meditations where you leave the body, and practice with the silver cord.

?

What do you mean practice? Both times were unintentional. I wouldn't even know how to initiate. I was just thinking maybe there was something that could help "keep" me there longer than a second.

Do you meditate? Do a meditation where you leave your body, and observe the silver cord. Float around, practice going back in and out, test it's strength. Then, if you leave your body in actuality again, you will feel more comfortable, and be able to stay out longer. I hope that's clear. If you don't meditate, it's one of the best ways to get Past Life memories, so it would be good to learn how. You can go anywhere, and do anything in a meditation.

Thanks

I do meditate. I began as a child in martial arts. Though I have always meditated with the intention and direction of my life being the goal, never PL memories or OBEs. I have always known I have 2 angels with flaming swords around me who i talk to but I have never asked their names. I have always just known things because I felt them , done things because it felt right. (Even math!) I never took notice of all the odd things that have happened to me through my life until last month when things just all started to click.

The sleeper has awaken!

I will look into it

I found a regression session with Dr. Brian Weiss on YouTube today. I got 3/4 of the way through before I felt like I could relax so I restarted it. Then I promptly fell asleep! I want to try again but am definitely the type if person that searches many places before settling. ;)

LuckiestK: first, try to learn from people who REALLY know what they're talking about, who have experienced OBE's. I've found books not too useful, to be honest.

I only have a brief experience, but I've been lucky enough to find people who have done it since they were small, not knowing what they were experiencing.

Many talk about the silver cord, but the truth is that only a few have seen it. Don't look for it, it just doesn't matter.

And trying to meditate while you're out of the body, it will probably be a waste of time, you're already too worried trying to move and not to be dragged to your physical body again.

It's all a matter of mental control, and it takes years of experience to control what you do in the astral plane. There are ways to go out consciously, if you're interested, you can PM me and we can talk. But if in the meanwhile you experience it again, there's a trick I used once and it worked: if you feel your physical body drags you back, try to grip anything you see around you, just as if someone was pulling at you from behind and you want to get rid of them, and tell yourself "No, I don't want to go back yet".

When I did it, I was then a bit scared I wouldn't be able to go back, as I felt unusually "free". But you know that's nonsense. You'll be back as soon as you think about your body again.

I know in this case this doesn't apply, but it's extremely important to have a clear objective if you want to have an OBE. If you don't know what you want to do, you'll probably be controlled by what you see and live in the astral, and that's not good.

Good luck!

Good tip

Thank you. I think it may have taken me awhile to come up with that on my own. It seems such a logical and simple idea and yet... Anyway, I am not yet ready to try intentionally but if it should happen again I like having a plan. :)

I tried to astral travel last night and I felt a cord being pulled and I got a *****ly feeling in my belly and it was bothering me so I stopped. My friend said I was being attacked by another kind of being. Was it actually working?

A most interesting development

Well I have nailed down the culprit as to why I am having a hard time regressing. I thought maybe it was fear and it was but not in the way I thought. I thought maybe I had fear of going back to a PL memory but as it turns out I am afraid if this life memories.

Let me 'splain...

My parents were very over-protective. Also I have memories of being 2 and some of being 4 but nothing in between. There are stories of when I was around 2 and my parents losing me...yes I said stories (plural).

I have realized that I am afraid to find out what made my parents over-protective. What happened to me that I don't remember? I am not sure I want to know.

I do know however that my husband of 18 yrs always talks about my abandonment issues and wonders why I have them.

I don't know what the asteriks mean, but anyway I don't think anyone was attacking you. Probably what you felt was your own astral body separating from your physical body. When you're doing this you can feel a lot of things: very light and floating, or the opposite, as if you're sinking in your bed. And I don't know how you could feel any cord if you were still in your body... maybe I misundertood you. The feeling when your "cord" pulls you (usually from behind unless you're looking at your body) is as if two magnets are very close and are attracting each other.
