My son told my husband he was his brother

My son, now eleven, has always been a little different from my other kids. When I was pregnant with him, I got this feeling that the child I was carrying would have a strong bond with my father-in law. I said it several times. I had images in my mind of them spending time together, and being very close. That was very much the case from the day he was born. My FIL would even fight back tears when he talked about how much he meant to him. My husband's brother passed away suddenly 2 years before we were married. We had my son a year and a half after our marriage. One day when my son was about 2-3... He was playing in the front yard, and my husband was sitting on the front porch watching. My husband said that my son walked up to him and stared him right in the eyes and said, "I am your brother" , and then just went back to playing. This child told us in the car at a very early age, that he remembered being in heaven, and that he wanted to go back there, but he knew he wasn't supposed to yet. He said it was such a nice place, but God told him he needed to come down and be our son. He wasn't much older than 3. I am fascinated with the thought of reincarnation, but didn't know much about it at that time...I sure wish I would have asked more questions!

Hello Tomboy44! Welcome to the forum, we're glad you found us. What a wonderful story you've shared with us. I hope we can help with any questions you might have. Feel free to ask! There are many, many books on reincarnation and I highly encourage you to read as many as you can. Family reincarnations are common, we've seen the stories here.

Does you son still talk about that? Or does he have any memories?

Thank you for finding us. And again welcome.

Welcome to the forum. :) Yes, does he still have any memories? Most children start forgetting around age 7 or 8. But as you will see as you explore this forum, there are more than a few adults who never forgot.

We have always talked about it, so it is hard to know what he truly remembers. His Grandpa has passed on, and he dealt very well with his death. He is very spiritual. He has this attitude that death is not the end. 2 years after his Grandfather's death, his paternal Grandmother also passed. One day while helping his dad mow their lawn, he stopped the mower and ran to his dad who was also working in the yard. He told his Dad that he heard whistling over his shoulder just like how "Pa" would whistle. This was over the loud sound of a mower. His Dad encouraged him to continue mowing, but soon after he stopped the mower and said he was hearing it again. This time he told his Dad that it was scaring him. It never happened again. If you knew my husband's Dad, you would know that he would NEVER want to scare my son.

I think he is watching over your son. If your son wants to, he can talk to him in his head. He will know what he is thinking.

And yet another piece of the story...After his grandpa's death, we were at a busy Sam's Club and my son wanted to buy a $20 game for his x box. We told him "no", but he pouted, and I remembered thinking, "oh, if his Pa saw this he would give in" We continued on shopping, and minutes later my son looked down on the floor and saw a $20 bill laying right there in the spot he was standing. My first thought was to wait to see if anyone came back for it. We did, but it was like this surreal setting where NO ONE seemed to notice or pay any attention to this. It was then that I connected the dots. I know this is not about reincarnation, but it is part of the "story", and I thought some may be interested.

In a way, it IS part of the story. I've been experiencing this lately myself. My father passed away about 5 years ago. Since then strange things have happened in the house. Also I've been helped financially in ways that should have been impossible. :)

Feel the Power

It is amazing to me what the deceased can do from the Other Side, it seems to me that they can effect changes or events that we cannot do in our world, they are aware of what is going on in our lives and they try to help us if they can, it ALL boils down to the strongest power in the Universe, the power of LOVE. :)

Love this story. Does your husband happen to remember what he was thinking just before your son told him that?

He does not remember. At the time, we weren't as open to reincarnation. Our son WAS showing signs of being an "old soul" , though. When watching FINDING NEMO at one yr old, he became very emotional in the beginning where the mommy fish is eaten. The scene is implied, and he was not near old enough to understand, but he slowly got worked up as it played out, and then ended up inconsolable at the end of the scene. My husband and I just looked at each other like, "What in the HECK???". I believe I started researching past lives after he told his father he was his brother, though. That is when I came across the James Lineger(sp)? story.
