Not sure where to post my child's story

I wasn't sure where to post this and I'm not usually a "jump in and post" kind of person. I am on various different kinds of boards and usually lurk happily.

But it is a rather odd chain of events that led me here and for some reason I felt I needed to tell my child's story and ask if anyone had any thoughts.

My daughter is now 15 and this all took place when she was little....maybe 3 or 4. I do remember she was young, but the words she used were the words of an older person so when I remember the occasion, I think she must have been older. I'm happy to see the admonitions in these threads that kids sometimes use words beyond their capabilities when "remembering."

So...anyway....One night I was taking a bath. She wandered in to talk to me as the girls sometimes do. This time, however, she started out with "you know, I used to be older than you" I asked her what she meant and she related this...

I was the leader of all my people...like a princess. (I thought okay, another one of her stories...she has a lot of imagination). But she reiterated that she was the leader and she was a grown woman. And you were there and daddy was there and Ellen (her sister) were there. But you and daddy were my children and Ellen was my friend, not my sister. My people were fighting another people and I was sad because so many of my people had died in the fighting.

She said that the other people were fighting to try to get her specifically and that if they captured her then the fighting would be over. She said she thought and thought and talked to the (military) leaders of her people. Then she decided she must give herself up to save her people. She said: so I went out into the fighting and I went ( raising her arms above her head and smiling in a quite blissful way) and I died. But my people were safe then so I was happy.

Then she turned and ran happily off to her room to play. I, of course, leaped out of the bathtub to follow her. I asked her many questions about her life then and what the fighting may have been about. All of her answers were so dry and matter of fact it was as if she was disgusted that I had to ask. She said at one point "you remember, you were there....oh, but I guess you were too young to remember much, huh" Like an idiot, I didn't write any of this down as I assumed I would remember it all. Now I'm 40 and can't remember this morning too well..ha ha. Anyway, I do remember the answers she gave made me think (and these are my assumptions, nothing specific she said after the above words) that she was an American Indian of some tribe. She couldn't tell me what "her people" were, she just repeated "my people" when I asked who they were.
She couldn't tell me specifically what the fighting was about only that the others wanted her and her death or capture was the only way to stop the fighting. I told her she must have been very brave to have voluntarily died like that and she again matter of factly said well she couldn't allow the suffering to continue.

She never mentioned any of this again. I wonder about this story as I see that one of the criteria is that the child continues to talk about the events. She acted more like that she had told me about this event so there was no reason to bring it up again. I CAN say this tale is in no way like her other imaginary tales of that time. They always started with a little girl and eventually included a pony and often space ships and whatever character of whatever book we were currently reading. This story was almost dry and unimaginative compared to her usual work. LOL. There again, god help me if I asked about the pony or space ships or whatever in her imaginary stories. I would get a full description and lengthy backstory on those. This story was very much like she would tell me about some child's backpack she had seen at daycare.

I've not ever talked much about her story to anyone. People tend to be staunch disbelievers in this sort of thing.....or, almost worse, like my family. They believe in reincarnation, believe in things most others do not, and were quite blase about this story. Yep, she remembered a past life, pass the salt. Maybe I need validation? Sad but true. Mostly I would like to know if the actual events of her story ring a bell with anyone so I could research the events. My validation is more internal, I guess, as I "know" this story was different.

Well, thanks to any that have bothered to read my story. As I said before, a very odd turn of events led me here today and I jumped in with both feet. I am sorry if I did not post according to rules or broke any rules in putting this up here.

I would think that your above statement is validation of a sort. Maybe other members can suggest a starting point to research your daughter's story. It would be a fun and possibly exciting endeavor. In my opinion a little validation is a good thing. Also, the story is fascinating - so thanks for sharing it.

Children are wonderful and seem to be unfathomable at times, don't they?

One of my favorite personal theories is that we reincarnate to enjoy being children again and kind of rediscover the world all over once more.

That theory makes sense Stardis. It would be difficult in some deaths , them being so painful , for us to continue to have faith once again unless we were once again trusting and open to love as children do.

Rebel ===One of my theories is that we come back to people again in the different relationships , like you and your daughter if she was reliving a past life, in order to be made aware of things in ourselves.

I cannot tell for sure if your daughter's story is from a memory of a past life. The way you described it it does sound like it as she sounded so sure of herself to be telling you that she was in a position above her mom. That is she definitely does show the power position of her being your mother. I wonder if you find her behaviour to you reflects at all what she portrayed to you in " her memory" . Like is she generally a " mothering " character towards you and her father? I am not sure it always works out like this, but it might be interesting to reflect on.

What sort of reaction have you/ would you get from telling your daughter about your interest?? Sometimes we , on our spiritual intuitive level , come to start to ask questions at the time that is just right .

Can you sense any bigger reason for your current interest>?? Sometimes it means you are beginning to think you could learn some things in your own life about your past lives/? ..

{PS... I would have loved if my mom had shared in past life investigations. Good for you to follow your heart.

Welcome to the forum Rebel1041,

Thank you for sharing your daughters story.

The way you have described her experiences falls into some - if not all of the Four Signs of Children's Past Life memories outlined by Carol in her book and in this thread.

It's late here - so I will comment more in the morning. Enjoy the forum and I look forward to your reflections.

It seems that the child continues to talk about the situation because something is unresolved. Often the child does not understand exactly why they were killed or died in a previous life. In this case it seems like she was not unresolved about what happened because she knew exactly what she did and why she did it. On the other hand, if you were her younger child at the time, she would realize that you might need to know what happened and exactly why she did what she did.

So, once she told you there was nothing left that needed to be talked about.

Hi rebel1031,

I would just like to add my own thanks for sharing your daughter's experience with us. It certainly sounds like a past life memory to me, and how lucky she was/is to have an open minded parent like yourself that she could go to with her story. I'm curious to know what she would say if you reminded her of the story she told back then, whether she would remember it, and whether she would still remember that past life memory today?

I can't really advise you on where to start researching, there may be some documented evidence out there somewhere, but finding it is half the fun. The only info you have to go on is 'American Indian', so start there ;) I may do a bit of Googling myself later as I find your daughters case very interesting, I'll let you know if I find anything.

Anyway I hope you'll stick around and join in with the discussions, welcome to the forum :)

Hi rebel1031 and welcome!

Thank you for sharing your daughter's story.

If she was a Native American and a leader of her people then she may have been a Clan Mother of the Iroquois tribe. They had a matriarchal society. She would indeed have referred to her tribe as "my people" and would have regarded it as her duty and an honour to die for them if necessary.

Alternatively, she may have belonged to a tribe who were enemies of the Iroquois. The Iroquois were great ones for killing the chiefs and other important members of a tribe (she might have been a revered medicine woman or daughter of a prominent chief) and integrating ordinary captives into their own tribe.

If she wasn't a Native American, then she may have simply lived among an ancient people and been a princess (or priestess maybe) or other woman of high status.

Hope this helps.

Hi rebel!

I loved reading about your daughters memories! I have children myself (and bordering 40 myself - yeah, this morning is hazy already :D ), and I can understand that you may feel that you need validation - or at least to discuss this with others that are likeminded but not as "unimpressed" as your family! I can completely relate to that - I usually get the "so what? or "....and?" reply from my own mother way too often :D

No bother at all ;) . In my opinion, those odd turns of events are not to be ignored :D - and I'm glad you jumped in!

How does your daughter feel about this today? Does she ever talk about reincarnation, if not about this particular life?

Welcome! :)

Hi rebel and welcome! Thank you for posting about your daughter. I agree with what the others have said and also wanted to ask what Welsh asked, about how she feels about it now.
