past life affects the present

Hi there everybody! I'm new to this website, but something drew me to look for some kind of answer or at least to hear of others who have experiences in this subject. As far as I could remember, around when i was four years old, i remember having almost an obsession with being important and being known later on in my life. Adults used to asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, and i always said "I just want to be well known and remembered." That, I feel, is my first sign of how my past life has had an impact on this one. I still have the same urge that I had when i was a toddler. anyway, as years pasted by I would pass by old songs(30s, 40s, 50s era) i had never heard of and i could finish the lyrics to these songs. I would get nervous because they came out of my mouth without me ever hearing them. Then I'd pass by movie channels and hear of movies that ive never heard of. Names of the actors and actresses I'd never heard of in these movies would come out of my mouth again, and to my surprise the credits would roll and these names would roll out. any person could say 'oh she probably had heard these songs and seen these movies, but I know for a fact that i havent so it is scary but it gets scarier. Everyone who ever meets me says that I look like I had just come out of another decade. What i wonder about is how someone could reincarnate back so quickly. I remember the 30s 40s 50s and 60s with many slips that come out. Sometime these slips about wwII will come out and weird comments as if i had been around that time come out. there is more to my story but for now thats enough. does anyone believe that a person could reincarnate so quickly?

Jim B. Tucker M.D. (Ian Stevenson's replacement) gave a lecture at the ChildSpirit Institute Conference on October 8th that was very well presented, showing documented cases with evidence that support the possibility of reincarnation. I highly suggest you look into his work.

One of the interesting facts that came out of their studies - was that the average time - between lives is 15 months. Of course this may not be true for everyone - but it seems that -- as far as their studies go - this is the average time of return.

I'm 50, and it's fascinating to hear about past-life memories of things that happened during my lifetime...I was involved to some degree in the hippy movement myself toward the end, in the early '70's. We *did* lose a lot of people to drugs, etc. I know I've met young people my son's age who seem to feel very drawn to that era, and I can't help but wonder if they were there before.

I wonder--do you think that the hippy movement itself was a result of people incarnating in large numbers who had either lived in the East, or perhaps had been Native Americans? When you think about it, the hippy culture in many ways would feel more natural for people who had incarnated from these groups. I am pretty sure I've had lifetimes in India and also the ancient Celtic culture, and many aspects of the hippy movement felt much more natural to me than this American culture.

I've also thought something that nobody seems to mention. Everybody says rock and roll came from the blues, and no doubt much of it did. But does anybody besides me see American Indian chanting and music as a contributor to rock music? A significant portion of rock musicians could have been reincarnated from Native Americans, and hence the influence would not have been *cultural* per se, but rather through reincarnation...

Hi deborah, thanks for that information. im glad theres a doctor out there that believes that that is true, 15 months. thats helpful so that it makes me feel more comfortable with the fact that just twenty or so years after my past lives passing i could come back. i had heard it had to take 80 years so i was very confused. thank you for sharing

Welcome, Catalina!

After reading your post, I wanted to say hello, because you're from "my" time. I lived from about the mid 20s to the early 60s, then got born into this body about 10-15 years later. I don't know if I was just hanging out on the other side during those years or if I had another short life I don't remember, but I still feel a very strong resonance with the time from the end of the war up until the early 60s. I'd be interested in hearing about your life at that time, if you feel comfortable about sharing it.

Cheers,
Niamh.

Hi niam!!! Oh its wonderful to know that there are others like us from our time not so long ago. my past life ended in the late sixties. i think i was in my late twenties...so im back and oh how many times have ive been told that i just seem like a person from another decade. and well its not that i look different from any other person or anything but everyone says that theres just something about me that belongs in those decades. its hilarious how people just come up with these things to say especially since they have no clue about all the flashbacks that i have, or the dreams. sometimes i get these unconscious slips where all of a sudden in a conversation ill bring up a memory from that time period like if im watching a movie and i hear a song that i have never heard of, ill say something like "thats cab calloway" except i have never heard of cab calloway so i freak out when i find out that that was the correct answer. Niam, what about you...im sure you must have your own stories. so its great to know that theres another person from "our time" around in this forum.

Hi, Catalina.

I'm glad I helped you feel a little less lonely. You really never have to feel alone around here, this is such a wonderful community, everyone tries hard makes you feel welcome. :-)

You asked about my story. If you do a search for posts I made, you can read a lot of the details. Here's the short version: In my life before this one, I lived in New York, had a daughter but didn't stay married to her father, moved in with my mother, who had a bunch of money, went to a lot of parties with some great friends, fell in "true" love, and then died at about the age of 40, probably in a boating accident.

Like you, I feel a lot of resonance from that time period. I don't get "slips" like you do, although I almost wish I did. It is really neat how you have all those facts tucked away in your memory! Earlier in this life, I never listened to the music from that era, but once my past life memories became more clear, I made a point to listen to and learn about it, and now I love it (again). But I don't remember it as clearly as you.

I wonder why it is you recall things like singers' and actors' names so well. Do you have any idea why that might be?

Have a good day,
Niamh.

I'm still unsure whether I had a past life in the 1960's or whether the reasons I suspect this relate simply to me being in the clutches of teenage obsession. I'm a little embarrassed to talk about it in case it really is the latter but you're nice people and I know you won't mock! :)

When I was 14yrs old I was your typical teenage girl, I loved New Kids on the Block *cringe*, I practised dances to Madonna in my bedroom with friends and went to great pains to match my earrings with my sweater!!.....and then one day it just all changed. Out of absolutely nowhere, I walked into a music store and bought a Jimi Hendrix album. Before that day, I'm not sure I even knew much about him. Nearly 15yrs on, I still have no idea what made me buy it. From the minute I played it, I felt like I'd come home. I collected every album, introduced myself to the Doors and just feasted on anything to do with the 1960's.

The feelings became so strong that I used to feel sick that I was 'born into the wrong time' and that I wasn't back there. I still have my 15yr old diary and it's full of references to 'wanting to go back', 'wanting to go home'. I used to pray I would wake up and be back there. I used to calculate people's ages in my head and torture myself with the fact that they were 'there' and I wasn't. I remember being hurt because my best friend's mum (a very narrow minded family) referred to me as a '60's freak' because of my love of the music and I dressed in tie dye and converted my jeans to bell bottoms. Of course, this could have been teenage angst and I just chose the 60's to be obsessional about but I never thought about it in a PL context till lately.

The only valid PL memory flash that may relate to this is a single image. I have an image in my head of a long white, very modern luxury house in a desert-like setting. In my head it feels like California. I don't know why I have this image but it feels like I was there. I know I was about 7yrs old in 1895 in one past life so I just don't know if perhaps I died as an old lady in the sixties or if I died earlier than that and came back to have a short life in the 40's-60's and then was reborn in 1976 as me. OR, maybe I wasn't around in the 60's at all.

One last thing...when I was very little and my brother and I used to bath together, we used to pretend the shampoo tops were shots glasses and we'd take it in turn to fill the glasses up and knock them back like professional alcoholics. I KNOW I hadn't seen anyone do that when I was 4yrs old so maybe that's another clue in the puzzle....

Yikes - sorry to have burbled on so long.
