Past life influences on fears

Phobias?

I was just wondering if more unusual phobias could be explained through past lives?

Hello boy,

Welcome to the forum :D I personally believe that most of our unusual, or extreme phobias are past-life related. For instance, I've grown up in a big city, but I'm afraid to cross the street alone. Of course it's something that I *have* to do to get anywhere, so I do it, but the fear is always present. ;) I can directly trace this back to my death in a past life. Is there anything that you're afraid of that you would like to share?

thank you :D well I get very scared and can't watch if ever a clip comes up on tv of people jumping out of burning buildings, eg 9/11 but everyone else can. could this have been from a past life perhaps?

Welcom to the forum. :)

From what I have read, yes, phobias are often past life influences on the present life. I grew up with that belief and wasn't suprised to find it addressed in books that talk about past life therapy and/or past lives healing the present. It just makes sense to me. :)

Phobias

I can't stand for my hands and arms to be restrained, or to be hemmed in by people like in a grocery store aisle with people blocking both ends. I can't breathe! When I had my first 2 chldren who are 27 and 25, when the nurses put me on the delivery table they buckled my arms down. I went absolutely crazy, screaming and jerking. Instead of letting me go, they sedated me. When I had my 3rd child who is 14, that practice had been abandoned. I made my doctor promise that they would not restrain me in any way.

Reincarnation, phobias and future lives

Hi,
Please help if you can. I have heard of people suffering from phobias throughout their life only to discover that these phobias have been caused by events in past lives but I wonder whether we are sometimes born with a phobia or of being frightened of something as a child that in our later present life turns into a reality - such as being scared of aeroplanes as a very young child and having someone very close to us dying in a air crash in our later adult life?

Can reincarnation leave that sort of future imprint upon people? Are patterns of death ever repeated such as a shooting or more widely sudden death or terminal illness?

I hope that some kind person can answer my questions, Thankyou

Hi Chrissie,

Welcome to the forum, it's nice to have you here with us. :D

I can only speak from my personal experience when it comes to past life deaths. I have a terrible fear of crossing the street in this life, especially at busy intersections (of course, I do it anyway because I HAVE to get places...lolol). So in that instance, the fear I have in my present life was definitely carried over with me.

There are several things that I absolutely refuse to do (such as skating on a frozen pond), and smaller fears and behaviours that I have (such as sleeping facing the door out of fear that someone will take me from my bed in the middle of the night) that also stem from past lives.

Although I have witnessed my mother die by drowning, and have been drowned in different ways myself in past lives, I have absolutely no fear of *swimming* in the water.

I think that the certain fears that we DO carry over with us are most likely the ones that we did not have closure with, or are from really traumatic endings. None of these past life fears and/or behaviours have ever affected me to the point where I CAN'T do something in this life...

I am really interested in hearing your thoughts on this, if you care to share! Talk about whatever you are comfortable with...this is a great group of people on the forum and everyone is very friendly & helpful.

What a fascinating topic!

I wonder this same thing a lot. If I understand your question correctly, we can ask it several ways. First, are our lives cyclical? Do we tend to die by the same thing in past lives over and over again? And/Or, do we "know" on some level how we will die and are scared of this thing, whatever it may be?

I have no idea, but it's interesting to ponder. I had a good friend who died several years ago and her one fear was dying and leaving her young children. She had no real reason to worry about this--she was healthy, etc.--but her dad had died when she was ten (from a heart attack) and she never really healed from this loss. She used to say things to me like, "I won't die before the kids are grown. God wouldn't do that to me after taking my dad." But she died three days after Christmas 2001, apparently from the flu, out of nowhere. She was only 33 and her children were still only 8 and 4. My point is that she seemed to worry about dying young more than the average person. And she died suddenly. It was almost as if she knew.

So maybe. My friend wasn't scared of the flu, but she was scared of dying early and not being able to raise her children.

Anyway, on a personal level, I don't have any huge fears--despite my big Galveston/hurricane emotional response. If there is a sudden, huge hurricane this summer that hits the Texas gulf coast, think of me, my wierd ocean obsession and consider it proof that things ARE cyclical. Bookmark this site. Hurricane season starts in June. (Clearly I'm not all that scared, either).

When I was younger I always had thoughts of myself being in hospitals and having surgery for long periods of time. At age 17 I had major surgery on my stomach ans was in the hospital nearly a month. I also feared deformity or being paralyzed and in a progression saw myself in later life being disfigured and paralyzed on my left side with a left eye missing or blind. I also go through scenarios in my mind where I get shot or taken as a hostage in a shoot out getting hurt saving others. So far that last one hasn't happened yet though and hopefully won't. I also always feared being left homeless or poor because of natural disasters. In progressions I had seen years of increasingly terrible hurricanes that would destroy the East Coast. When Katrina happened I worried it'd hit my area(New York) or something similar but fortunately it didn't.

My whole life I felt I would witness tons of natural disasters, imprisonment, govt instability and oppression and people I know dying. I've long felt people I know might die and end up hurt because of me, possibly a reason I avoid close ties to others. I have always felt on edge as though I should be ready to leave home or evacuate on short notice. So far these worse things haven't happened but could as much I saw did come true and stuff I've seen in progressions definately could account for my present feelings and apprehension at current events. So it is my belief that yes events that are occuring in the future can be sensed and affect us now in the present just as much as past lifetimes can affect us.

Hi Chrissie

I think some people can certainly know the manner of their death in this current life, and that may result in fear, but just as possible, it could bring about acceptance and preparedness.
A kid I knew when growing up received a nice blue outfit for his 10th birthday. He turned around and told his mother he wanted to be buried in it, to which she said "You'll look ridiculous in it when you're an old grey man". He just smiled and went on with the present opening. As far as anyone knew, he was a healthy and happy kid, but less than a year later, he died from a brain tumour. (And he was buried in that outfit, just as he had asked).

For myself, I keep getting the impression that I'm going to be crushed in some manner this life, but maybe that's just because it's how I died in my most recent past life... If it is accurate, I'm not too concerned about it, because going on past experience it's not as bad as you'd think, and there are many worse ways to go.

Maybe I take too much of a fatalistic approach to it, but I feel that worrying about how we're going to die is about as productive as trying to stop from dying entirely. We're here to live, and that involves the inevitable 'shuffling off' as well. And while I absolutely agree that some death memories can be absolutely traumatic (I never *ever* want to be hung again), I think our mentality going in to it has as much to do with the fear as anything else.

Just my two cents. :)

Cheers,

Saau

Hi, Chrissie,

Yes, I definitely believe past-life experiences can cause present-day phobias. I know first-hand!

In my most-remembered past life, the one most connected with this one, I died a very traumatic death, surrounded by crowds pressing in around me and screaming their hatred at me. For years before this, I was kept a prisoner by these crowds, fearing every day that they might break in and hurt me, or worse, hurt my husband, my sister or my children. Large amounts of people equaled great danger in my mind, and unfortunately, it still does.

I suffer from agoraphobia, a crippling fear of unfamiliar places, people and situations, and most especially crowds. I have to have a family member right by my side whenever I leave my house, and though I can sometimes go into a store or somehwere alone, it can't be for long, and if it's crowded, I go into a panic attack and end up huddling under my pillows, crying. I'm working on it, and it really helped me to understand where this fear came from.

Good question, and a very important one, I think.
