Past life memories or pretend?

Today, I asked my 4 year old daughter, Lexie if she remembered anything from her past life or lives...We were having some quiet time and hand a candle lit. She looked at the fire and said she remembered dying in a fire when she was 20 years old. She said she lived in the woods and she was married with 4 kids. She said the fire started small, went "boom", got bigger, and killed them all a long with their 2 dogs. She said that's all she remembered. So I am just wondering if this sounds like pretend? She likes to tell stories and she swears she is telling the truth so I just don't know. She said she was 20 with 4 kids which would have made her a very young mother.

Hi Mamakaykay! Did you read the sticky in this section about the signs of children's past life memories? If so, did she show similar behaviors? Had she shown any signs of being afraid of fire?

Women used to marry very young and still do in some cases, so it could be possible that a 20-year-old woman would have had 4 kids.

You daughter is at a good age to remember past lives, so keep an eye and ear out for her to see if you can learn more. Carol Bowman's first book has some tips on how to help children with their remembrances. Have you read it?

Thanks for your response!! When she looked at the flame on the candle she seemed fine and if the memories were real it seemed to be the trigger to remembering, but when I lit the lighter (small cigarette lighter we use for insense) and she backed up as far as she could and said it was going to blow up if I didn't put it out, but we light insence every day and she isn't scared of those, in fact she always asks to blow them out. Just the lighter is scary to her. I did read the sgns on the sticky and she was matter-of-fact about it, when I would ask her a question she would just kind of shrug and answer it, no smiles and usually if she's playing she will smile and give herself away, lol.

Hi mamakaykay,

I wonder if a four-year-old would know that a small fire can ignite another accelerant, explode and take out an entire family at once. It seems unlikely to me that many young children would know that, so I think that lends credence to her story unless she learned about fires recently somewhere. But then, if she had learned it in this life, she would have used the terms she was taught, not "went boom"-- so that sounds realistic also. I also agree that she could have had four children at age twenty.

Good points, Feech!! I don't think she would know that since I have never really gone beyond "don't play with fire, it's dangerous". And like I said, she likes insence and candles but just the lighter seemed to freak her out and she talked about the "boom". And I have talked to her since that day about what she remembers and she stays totally consistant with her story! Also another thing she told me, I think I forgot to mention it before was when she was talking about the family she said she had 2 dogs and she told me they were the same age (she said in her 4 year old talk: They are the same years old. They were twins.") At first I thought she was pretending and modeling the family after our's since we are a family of 6 but we don't have 2 "middle sized twin dogs" and the thing with the fire, so I am inclined to believe her!

People used to get married at 12 and started having kids at early ages. That scenario too with the house in the woods, also suggests earlier times as well.

That's kind of what I was thinking too, Bluehayze! When she told me about the wooded area, I pictured a "Little House on the Prairie" scene, with the big family in the woods, etc.
