Recurring dreams

Hi all,

I am new to the forum but I have been reading about reincarnation for a few years, my grandfather introduced me to the idea when I was in my teens and since then the more thought I gave it the more logical it seemed. To my knowledge I never conciously recalled past life memories, but now that I have read other accounts it has reminded me of something that happened growing up that I think could very well be past life memories.

When I was 12-13 year old I would frequenly have exactly the same very vivid dream time and time again. Sadly I did not write down the details at the time but I will try to recall as much detail as I can now:

The dream often started in various places in time, but most often it would start in the middle of a battle, the sound was deafening, clashing of metal mostly but also shouts and screams. I do not recall if the shouts were in English but I think they were. In the dream I was already tired and my equipment was heavy, I had a sword shield and helmet, but my vision was not obscured so I assume the helmet did not cover the face. I remember it was cold and the sky grey, the ground was slightly muddy, the dead and dying covered the floor and I had to be careful not to fall over them. The next thing I remember is being confronted by an enemy, in my dream I do not know why he is my enemy but when I see him fear and anger overflow and I know he is the enemy.

He has a sword and shield, a helmet that obscures his face, I do not remember anything about armour or shield decoration. I take the first swings but he blocks them easily with his shield, I use all my strength in the first few blows but quite quickly I realise I cannot beat him, I am already too tired and my sword is becoming hard to lift. Next he is attacking me, I lift my shield and block him, I try to dodge but I am too slow, his blows are hard and fast, too fast for me to do anything but block with my shield, he swings at my face and I faise my shield to block it. Behind the shield I can't see him, I turn to my left but as I do so I feel the sword pierce my side.

Most interestingly in the dream I do not feel pain, but I feel the cold of the blade inside me. I drop to the ground and the blade is ripped out, now I can see feet around me, men still standing and fighting, I feel blood rushing out which is very warm against my skin. The last thing in the dream is the strong smell of muddy/dirt, right before I wake up, often I could almost still smell it as I woke.

The dreams stopped happening after a year or so from the first. I would always wake up at the same point after smelling the earth, but the dream often started in various places through the battle, sometimes just before the battle had begun, but I cannot remember much before being confronted by the enemy. I probably had this dream more then 20 times, they would also occur literally upon falling asleep, and I would wake up just 2 or 3 minutes after last looking at the clock, although the dream sometimes seemed to go on for an hour. I have never had such vivid dreams before or since, certainly smells and feelings have not played such a great part in any other dream I've had.

Lastly I have a birthmark on my side exactly where I dreamed the sword entering, it is about 7cm long and 1cm high...

At the time I did not think of the dream as having any meaning or though it did seem strange to me to be haunted by the same dream time and time again. It was not until my late teens that I first wondered if this dream could be anything to do with a past life.

Has anybody else had a similar experience with recurring dreams? Or heard of something similar?

Thanks.

Hello iRage, yes I've had similar experience with recurring dreams for many years, and I think this can often be a good indication of a past life memory, especially when it corresponds with a birthmark as in your case.

Do you have any feelings for the time period of your dream? Or the location? Is there any particular moment in history that strikes a chord with you? Many people search for further information through meditation, or perhaps a session or two with a past life therapist, is this something that would interest you?

Welcome to the forum,

Chris :)

No, because at the time I had the dream I did not connect it with a past life or like to think about the dream, I never gave any thought to time period or location.

I am kicking myself now because at the time I am sure I could have remembered it vividly enough to have drawn my enemy, perhaps I would have been able to then identify the time period from history books.

If I was to hazard a guess I would say the location was the UK, but I am far from sure of that.

Thanks for the link.

Hello iRage and thank you for sharing.

That is a very interesting and detailed dream. What I find interesting is the way in which all your senses are incorperated into the dream. I also find the corresponding birthmark particularly intriguing. These dreams very well could have indicated a past life.

Have you given any thought to medidation or hypnotic techinques to try to bring these memories back to the surface?

Hi all,

I am also a newcomer to this forum.

A friend of mine had a recurring nightmare where he had been bayonetted and was lying on a forest floor with the battle raging around him. He was born with a hernia in the place where the bayonet went in.

I also believe I was a British soldier in the First World War who was killed by a sniper. I was born with the rear soft spot in my skull still open although I was born 12 days late. My understanding is that the bones at the rear of the skull should have closed before birth.

We are both in the same Living History (Battle Reenactment Group) because we have an overriding interest in military history. In fact he was in an American Civil War Group before our current one. His past life memory was of wearing a blue uniform!!!!

Additionally I work with a woman who is a medium. She has a young son who has said that he and his father fought together. He has a birthmark on his belly to which he points and says that is where he was shot.

To cap it all I believe I was a German soldier in the Second World War and was involved in an event in the history books (I won't mention which one yet because it troubles me). My medium friend's husband has recently recounted a dream in which he was a young boy who had to run away as the enemy had arrived. He tried to delay but his mother (I think) had to force him to run. This description bears a horrible resemblence to my last past life experience!

I firmly believe that not only are we reincarnated we may travel with the same souls through successive lives. (this isn't the first time this has cropped up in my life).

Anyway, this was by way of an introduction and to say to iRage that I think that birthmarks can be an echo of a traumatic death. I also have a cluster of freckles on my belly and some scar like marks on my back!!!!

My intention is to explore my previous lives firstly with meditation and then regression. I will also work with my medium friend to work out how we all fit together.

Thanks for sharing your story ravenspirit, welcome to the forum and good luck with the exploration of your past lives, do let us know how you're getting on, in the meantime, I hope you enjoy the discussions.

Welcome to the forum, Ravenspirit, and thanks for sharing about your experiences. :)

Many members have noticed we tend to come back to/with the same souls over and over again. If you're interested in the topic, you might want to use the forum's search engine to find earlier discussions about it.
