She can't recall saying that

When my daughter was in 1st grade, (she is now 13) her teacher approached me one day after school quite shaken. I asked what was the matter and where was my child (her demeanor frightened me, I thought surely something had happened to my daughter). She asked if I was my daughters real mother. I said yes of course I am! Why? What is going on? She said well, today during class, your daughter started telling the class how she saw her real mom and dad get killed by her aunt. She said she was hiding under the bed and that her aunt killed her mom, her dad and then her aunt killed herself. The teacher then said that my daughter told her that she was placed with us, myself and her father by the state. That we were to be her parents now. I was floored! I was angry! Initially, I thought, how dare my daughter make up such tales! The teacher saw this on my face as she said to me that she had called down the guidance counselor to console my daughter who was in hysterics after telling this story, and that they both looked in my daughters records to see the copy of her birth certificate to see who her real parents were! They were that convinced that she was telling the truth. My daughter didn't reveal how old she was when she witnessed these murders, her name, the state, nothing. Just the story. When my daughter got in the car, I asked her about it and she flat out said mom, I never did that! I never said those thing. I said sweetie, it's okay if you did. I want you to be able to talk about your memories and feelings. She still continued to look at me like I had 3 heads and that was the end of it. I have tried several times over the years to get her to talk about it but she thinks I am crazy! What can be done to help her remember? I'd like to see her get some closure on this so it doesn't effect her later in life. Thanks in advance, RavensWitch

Hi RavensWitch,

Welcome to the forum. Have your read Children's Past Lives by Carol Bowman? It is the most outstanding book! After readng her book, I am sure there are a lot of questions that will be answered for you.

I can surely understand how the incident with your daughter and the teacher upset you. I am wondering if your daughter, at the time, thought she was telling a "story," so to speak and didn't realize it was possibly past life related- I say this because she says after her real parents were killed the state placed her with you and your husband. Maybe when you asked her about it, she was scared to talk about it or really could not remember. Also, over time, children's past life memories do fade, so this could be why she looks at you in that funny way.

I truly believe that past life memories surface as they somehow relate to our lives in the here and now. Maybe at the time your daughter shared this part of herself it was important for her to do so...maybe just telling somehow resolved it for her.

I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Ravenswitch

Susie's already offered some great advice....a couple of things I wanted to add are:

Firstly - I hope you keep a journal of all your daughter's memories, they are invaluable in later years and I can imagine by the content that your daughter currently speaks of, she has witnessed some traumatic situations in her life, that at some time may need healing and closure (f she is not already achieving this by simply sharing the memories and letting go, which she could well be, although she did sound like she got upset an awful lot afterwards in this case) - a journal is sooooo helpful once the memories start to fade, or little details are forgotten....they truly are something you will thank your lucky stars for keeping and recording in the coming years.

Secondly...children generally do not have the same "strict" concept of linear time and "fixed" constraints and ideals through society, that we conform to unconsciously in our teenage/adult lives, their minds still run free and memories very easily cross over eachother at times, making it difficult for them to separate their past memories from their present family and concept of time...that is not to say that their perception or awareness is not fully integrated into the present, just that it is easy for children to slip backwards and forwards through time and memories, without sometimes noticing the subtle changes and being able to differentiate bewteen the two.

Aside from journalling, I'd say the best thing you can start by doing, is not getting angry, or displaying any kind of real reaction if she repeats something like this in the future...be aware of your reaction and emotions (children are VERY sensitive) maybe she picked up on these, or maybe the teachers told her she was "wrong" in her memories, without obviously realising what she was actually "experiencing".

It's possible that the emotions she was picking up from other people, or the things she got told from the school consellor, were enough to make her think she shouldn't speak any further on the memories....or maybe they simply did come to her, then fade off again, despite the dramatic effect they can have in the actual MOMENT...it's very easy for children to then get up and move away from what they just experienced and not pay any extra attention to it when asked later...sometimes even forgetting themselves once the trigger has disappeared, or they are grounded back into their own "time/space/moment" again.

Just some possible suggestions...hope they help, and hope you keep us updated

Thanks for the responses. First, I want to make clear because it sounds like you are thinking that perhaps my reaction or others caused my daughter to become closed mouthed about her memory. The teacher and the counselor that experienced this moment with my daughter reacted not in a negative way, they were consoling, they asked appropriate questions, they reacted great! They didn't tell her she was wrong, or tell her she shouldn't be saying this. They were both believing these memories occurred.

Now, when I was told of this, my daughter was not with the teacher. My reaction was seen only by the teacher. I am of the Wiccan religion. We believe in reincarnation, etc. My mind didn't immediately go there that day. Once it did, and it was before my daughter reached me, that is the mode I was in. I was fascinated by this memory and wanted to know more. I asked the appropriate questions, offered my support and understanding and made my daughter feel very comfortable. She and I have the type of relationship where she tells me everything. I love that about she and I.

I was told by a friend once, that has some psychic ability that Ashley, my daughter in a previous life was a prostitute and killed a man. This man he said is in this life her real dad. How true this is, I don't know. I do know that he hasn't spoken to her since October of 1997 even though he only lives a 20 minute drive from us. She wants no part of him. He didn't beat her or molest her. He says she isn't like him, that she doesn't want to do what he does. He forgets that she is the child, not him! He stopped having her out at his house. She never asked to go. I tried to repair the relationship but she says he doesn't exist for her, that he has never meant a thing to her.

Now, another incidence. My daughter at age, oh...8 years of age I think, was at a friend of mines house with me. A tarot reading was being done. I at this point had never seen a tarot deck in person. Neither had my daughter. Well, during the reading, she speaks up and says, that isn't right. I said no honey, don't speak up. She said mom that isn't right, he is telling him wrong, that isn't what the card means. I said shh honey, you don't know that. She persisted which got the attention of my friend who then looked over the reading being given and said my daughter was right. I about passed out. The tarot reader stood corrected, my daughter finished the reading and I sat stumped on the couch. Since that day, she hasn't even asked about Tarot cards. Has no interest in them.

I have been told that she is a natural witch, that she holds powers quite strong and that once she is fully aware of all that she holds, she will have great power. I see people today that tell me that her aura is powerful. We both have M's on our hands which is a sign of magickal power, hers being more prominent then mine. She gets visitors all the time. She will casually tell me. My dresser needs to be moved back against the wall again. Something was shaking it again last night. I will go in and you can feel the energy snapping in the air and her dresser, a long 6 drawer with a mirror will infact be moved about 4 inches from the wall. It takes her and I both to move it back. I see, hear, and sense spirits but let me tell you, if my dresser started shaking in the middle of the night hard enough to move it away from the wall, I would have to peel myself from the ceiling! She simply hears it occurring, rolls over, puts her glasses on, sees if she can see anything doing it and then rolls over and goes back to sleep!

She also as a child, use to have faeries in her room. She was constantly talking about playing games with the faeries! She was never around my Wiccan ways until a few years ago. She began asking me questions about religions, mine, my moms, etc. so I got her books, she read the Wiccan books, the bible, did research on other religions, went to church with my mom, some Christian plays with my mom and came to me in September of this year and said she didn't believe in God, that she believe as I did, in a God and Goddess. I asked specific things, reasons, etc. and her choice was made. She has though since she could talk, been telling people that she is a witch.

She doesn't get along with men well. The only one she did, my dad, had passed. Her stepfather who she once adored, has been tossed to the side for her as well. At Christmas, we celebrate Yule for she and I and then Christmas with the families, she didn't know what to get her stepdad whom she has always considered her real dad, before I even began dating him, he was just my friend of a few months. My mom joked about some coal that she had and my daughter said, he isn't worth even coal. Now this man has never done anything to get that response from her.

She came out to me a few months ago about being a lesbian. She is really strong in this belief. She doesn't want men in her life. I know for a fact she has never been molested or beaten in this life anyway by a man. I protect her with my life.

She as well isn't like your average 13 year old that acts 16 or so. She is really mentally 13. The only odd thing is, she prefers to be in her room or playing a game with me. She has no friends, she has aquaintences at school, but she calls no one and no one calls her. She spends her summers and vacations with just me or in her room listening to music or watching tv. She flat out told me she prefers to be alone. Sorry I have rambled on so long. Hope all this helps you get some idea about her! Blessings, RavensWitch

I wanted to add, that when my daughter told me she wanted to be alone, she said with no friends over, or just hanging out with you mom. She likes that I am layed back. She says that her friends are too busy, she says they are constantly going from one thing to another, never wanting to do something for a period of time. She likes things slow and layed back. Not all busy like. So, she prefers to be without friends around, then with. She and I will play games, watch television, etc. We have great fun. She is also on Adderall. She was having trouble concentrating at school and it was greatly effecting her work. She came to me, said she needed something to help her concentrate and once speaking to the doctor, she was placed on Adderall. It has been a month and she is pleased at the results. I'd like to see her off it, but will give it another month. I am going to introduce her to meditation and see if that will have some effect on helping her focus, and visualize.

If this has anything to do with anything. She just began really reading books. She loves scary stories, like the Goosebumps, nothing major and just recently started reading adult mysteries. She loves a good mystery. Her brain just works that way.
She also I forgot to mention, didn't talk until she was almost 2 years old, she has an inoperable arachnoid cyst, it looks like beef tripe wrapped around her brainstem. It doesn't effect her. They think it may be the cause of some learning disabilities she has in elementary school, but she is now in some advanced classes. Advanced Alegebra being one of them! Her vision is poor as well. She gets new glasses every year. She is in need of them now! She just failed an eye exam at school.

Let me know if any of this helps you! RavensWitch

Susie...At first when I got your email, I was unsure of what you meant about there not being paragraphs as I always make paragraphs. I then came to the site and realize that you mean to put spaces between the paragraphs. Gotcha! Didn't know to do that.

I spoke with my daughter again about her memory. Initially, her eyes glazed and her face actually changed some and she got fear on her face but as soon as it came, it was gone. Is that a good thing? It kind of startled me.

I also checked the newspaper because I read on another post that when kids reincarnate, it is done within a year and a half of their birth and within a 50 mile radius of there birthplace. Is there any truth to that? Our paper, at least online anyways, only goes back to the year of her birth. I will research it if there is any truth to the 50 mile radius, etc. Please let me know.

Blessings, RavensWitch

Hi Raven,

Thank you for all the white space you've created in your posts!!! Please be sure to get Carol Bowman's book that I suggested in my first post, if you have not already done so.

As for your question on reincarnating within a certain radius and amount of time between lives, the individual soul makes those choices. You mighy want to look into Dr. Ian Stevenson and read Carol's second book, Return from Heaven.

Hi Raven,
Have just read about your daughter and I was curious as to what was being discussed in the class when your daughter spoke about her past life. Did you ask the teacher whether your daughter spoke about these things as a response to a direct question or was there some activity taking place which acted as a trigger for these memories?
With love and light,
english rose.

EnglishRose... You know, if memory serves me correctly, it was show and tell day and for the life of me, I never thought to ask what was being shown that triggered it. You know, I have been thinking about this alot the last few days and I remember that teacher. My dad worked for the school system and they know me pretty well. I have been thinking about tracking this teacher down and questioning her about it. I know it's not a day that she will have soon forgotten. I will let you know what I can come up with. Merry Part, RavensWitch

Hi English Rose and Raven,

What a great idea to track the teacher down and ask what was being shown that day!! I'm interested in hearing more!
