Some insight needed

Hi all,

I have a 13 month old daughter. For her birthday she got a goodnight Elmo doll that sings lullaby and goodnight. I turned it on, and she started pouting and crying. I didn't think much of it, until it kept happening. I figured it was the Elmo doll. Days go by and the song is stuck in my head so I sing it to her- she starts pouting and crying. I thought it was a fluke, so I have been testing it out frequently over the past month. Every time without fail she gets really upset, like a wave of sadness hits her, not just her being a crying toddler. She genuinely looks so sad. My mom also noticed it and thought it could be linked to her past life as well. I never sang the song to her as a newborn or an infant so she has not heard it until the toy. I don't know why I never sang it to her, intuition maybe? I guess I'm just asking is it possible to see signs of a past life this early? I know she has an old soul because she was never really a "baby". Now I'm rambling, I'm sorry I hope this makes sense I just wanted to get everything written down.

Hello Allaretaken, welcome to the forum. Well this is the perfect place to ask such a question!

My inclination in these matters is to believe these things most likely are past life related. It seems the memories are so fresh and alive in these young ones, but they have no clue what they are or how to interpret the triggers. Parents for centuries blamed it on bad dreams or colic. The more I study reincarnation from a practical perspective, the more I see situations like yours as having roots there.

I would highly suggest you get a hold of Carol's book and read it for more insight.

Thanks for joining!!

Welcome to the forum. Since she is not able to speak yet, you will have to wait awhile before getting past life verbal clues. I would start keeping a journal and write all of these things down. Read both of Carol's books, "Children's Past Life Memories" and "Return From Heaven".

I think it is possible that the song triggers a memory in your daughter. When my oldest was 13 months, she would cry when I sang "Can't Help Lovin' That Man", by Jerome Kern. Her little face would crumble into a mask of pain. I sang it only twice, to see if her reaction was real. It was. I didn't think that a baby would have the understanding to feel the pathos in the tune, or the lyric. Looking back, her reaction was probably past life related. I would wait until your daughter is a little older, and sing the song to her then. See if her reaction is the same. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for all of your responses. It is only that particular lullaby. She loves all of the other ones, but that one upsets her so much. It's not just when I sing it either (so its not my terrible singing she's crying at). I keep testing it and without fail every time she gets very visibly upset

Maybe give that song a rest and when she is a little older and can talk you can ask her why it upsets her. FYI, when they can talk you can ask open ended questions when they mention anything past life related. Bedtime or riding in a car are usually good times when they are in the right mental state.

This was actually going to be my next tongue-in-cheek question. ;)

Does she have the same response with recordings? If I sound nosy, it's just because I find this fascinating. I have songs that evoke a strong emotional response myself that I feel are PL related.

Thanks for the tip!

And yes recordings of it too, I tried to rule out pitch, my voice, etc. My whole family thinks its the strangest thing as well

Is

the doll?
She only reacts to the doll or is it any version of the song like this?

This is a pretty old and generic nursery rhyme so it might be hard to get a past life date.

Yes that is the doll! That's when I noticed it, because for some reason the whole first year of her life I never sang it to her. She reacts that way to ANY version. I'm new to looking into past lives so I'm sorry if any of this sounds dumb. I just don't know how else to explain the strange reaction

Nope. Doesn't sound dumb at all. Music is often a strong trigger for past life memories in adults as well. Several times it's happened to me that I've heard a song and been bounced back into a memory. I'd say it's probably best to avoid that song for now if it upsets her!

The song lyric that made my baby daughter cry went, "I gotta love the same man 'til I die". Her husband died in this life when he was 36. She has no plans to remarry. I think her infant soul remembered her life plan. That is why I think your baby's reaction may be past life related.

Hi AllAreTaken,

by now your daughter must be about 8 years old and you probably don't follow this thread anymore.
But just in case you do:
This is an easy one. Your daughter must have been German in a previous life!
The original lyrics to the song are in German and my mom used to sing it to me when I was little. I absolutely hated it. For the simple reasons that the text has two very weird lines in it. It says: "Good evening, good night. Blessed with roses, tucked in with little nails/needles ("Mit Näglein/Nädlein besteckt" depending on the tradition. What the h*** is THAT meant to mean?!?)" and then it goes on to say: "Tomorrow, if God wants to, you will be awoken again."
As a child that made me think: "Yeah, and what if God doesn't feel like it tomorrow morning?".

No idea why the tradition of that song has stuck so long. It's horrid to a child.
So can't blame your daughter for disliking it.

Best from Germany,
Gin
