Strange Dreams

Looking Backwards

Has anyone ever had odd dreams that don't necessarily contain or lead to a past life memory, but still give them pause?

One time, I had a dream where I was on the floor or the ground. I remember thinking of frogs. I think I either thought I was a frog or likened myself to a frog - I'm more inclined to believe the latter, though it still doesn't make much sense. Perhaps there were simply frogs around me.

In the dream, I or someone else was whispering a name. The name was "Hilary," and repeated a few times. I wish I could remember my emotions and other details, but it was a very long time ago.

I've also had moments where I move around while dreaming, usually when I'm sick or wake up suddenly. For instance, one time I woke up, used the restroom, brushed my teeth... all the while angry at my "daughter" for leaving me. (I do not have children.) Another time, I was in China.

The reason I'm listing these dreams is because they've stuck with me. I have weird dreams all the time - the movie Inception wasn't all that far fetched to me. ;) But they, amongst other dreams I may have mentioned and/or are harder to explain, just bothered me for whatever reason. I'm not sure if any of them mean anything, but they're certainly interesting, to say the least.

I think that most dreams are meaningful but not necessarily all that important to your spiritual progress in this life - although, some dreams may be profoundly important.

An experience that I once had led me to believe that the human brain will dream whether you, the spirit, are in the body or not. I don't think that the spirit is so firmly tied to the physical body that it just lies there asleep but, instead, it wanders a bit as it waits for the physical body to rest. As you grow into a more spiritually aware individual, you are able to incorporate these wanderings into your dream life so that, when awake, you can meditate upon the true nature of who you are. Probably most dreams are an amalgam of the physical brain's slide show and the spirit's experience when momentarily freed from the physical body. It somehow seems important to meditate upon the meaning of dreams that stand out to you and that is something that mankind has always believed.

Interesting. Is that an experience you would like to share? I only ask because I have had some insanely bizzare dreams. Well, I dont know if I would call them dreams.

Perhaps not very interesting to most people, but you may find it interesting as I did.

When I was very tired once, I lay down to sleep but before I had completely laid down, my physical body fell asleep while "I" had not. "I" sat up and was able to observe the dream images of the physical body while it lay sleeping. The images were like a series of still pictures flashing by very quickly and they seemed to be made of things that had happened that day.

"I" then stood up out of my body and was able to walk around and observe the world around me which appeared to be perfectly normal reality and there were no anomalous events observed. "I" was aware of a silvery thread that connected me to the physical body and what "I" could see of myself was also made of a silvery see-through material.

Out of curiosity, "I" crouched down over my physical body and peered into my face and a moment later awoke with a sudden start and for an instant it seemed as thought I was staring back up at "myself".

I was keenly aware that "I" did have any great emotional attachment to my physical body.

That was not my my first or last experience of that type but I found it the most interesting because of the observation of the dream images flashing by and the fact that "I" could experience them as a separate entity.

This is just my opinion: I have felt since that experience that the meaningful or extra ordinary dreams do not originate within the physical brain, but are experiences that the soul brings to everyday reality for us to benefit from in some way as human beings - that is, the soul as a physical being.

Thanks for sharing.

I every now and then have a false awakening where I "falsely awaken" in my room. Like you described, the room looks perfect. I then start floating around my room. Unfortunately, I have zero control over myself when this happens. Sometimes I just hover off my bed over the ground. Other times I am spinning in some pattern around the room. It is an out of body type sensation. THe first time it happened, I found my nose at the sealing body parallel to the bed. Then, I got lowered onto the bed. At the instant where myself "felt aligned back in my body" my eyes snapped open and I awoke.

This is actually always uncomfortable because 100% of the time I have increases in blood pressure and heart rate that are very uncomfortable for some reason.
