The pattern of past life memories

If children recall past life memories from a life about a year or so from their current life, I think it's safe to say that the children is obviously picking up memories from their most recent past life. However, do all children's memories come from their most recent life? Today, if a child remembers a past life from, for example, WWI, would that indicate to us that the child hasn't incarnated for many earth years, and the child is picking up on his/her recent past life, or could the child already had lived other lives and yet is picking up memories from an earlier life?

Basically what I'm asking is if you think children only talk about their most recent life, or if they could possibly have no memories of a lot of recent lives, yet have strong memories of a life they had before others?

I think the most recent lives come up first because they are the freshest, most easily accessed memories. A child's mind is not saddled with what it may be taught is inappropriate behavior in regards to such memories. The easiest ones will surface the fastest. If a child is encouraged (with responsibility) in regards to these memories, the older, deeper memories may get their turn to surface. If they are taught that these flights of fancy are to be kept in check and put away as silly daydreams, then their subconcious may never learn to dive deeper.

A memory from a more distant life may surface before a newer memory because of a stronger imprint. We are more likely to remember the car crash we got into last month than we are to remember what we had for dinner 6 nights ago.

Just my two cents', adjusted annually for inflation.

I think a child often also remembers a past life, if he/she is born amidst Souls they recognize, or for example in a place where they lived before. I don't think it would be necessarily the most recent PL then; as Shiftkitty said, other triggers may make the memories surface.

I think children remembering WWI or II are remembering their last more traumatic experience, the one that has unfinished business that has carried over the most strongly. Perhaps after being killed as a soldier they had a common life as a owner of a store in the late 1900s (for example), died peacefully & then reincarnated to their current life now. When remembering their past lives, they would probably skip over the store owners life to the one that needed healed the most, or that was still burned in their memory, (i.e. the soldier in WWI). However, in my brothers case there was more then one lifetime in between his current life & the one still bothering him:

The first past life my brother talked about as a child to my parents was life of a medieval foot soldier involved in a terrible siege. This was not his most recent incarnation, but it was the most on his mind - he still felt guilty because (in his 5 year old words) 'all the women & children in the castle keep were killed!' Once he realized what other men on his 'side' were doing, he was so shocked and horrified, and felt extremely guilty, even though he himself killed none of the women or children.

Needless to say that coming out of his 5 year old son made our dad a believer in reincarnation, though he has no memories himself. What's more, is he is now 16 and he said he can still remember & see it like it was yesterday.

I agree with Lady2. I think that when children get flashes of memory, or a full memory of a past life, it is probably one that had a lot of emotional significance, and unfinished business. We probably all have issues from many various lives and if they don't get resolved within that lifetime some of us may choose to tackle it immediately, while others may choose to wait a few lifetimes to return to that issue.

In my experience, children talk about memories of both ancient and recent lives. It all depends on the trigger.

In my experience, my first memories from a past life were not from the most recent one.

And I started to remember when I was around nine years old.

however, when I look back, whether there was an event at that age that may have triggered my memories.

These memories came from a very ancient times.

My daughter tends to jump around in her memories. She has memories of a life as a serial killer. She does not wish to know which one, but of course with the clues she gave me I had to check it out, and found it quite easily online.

She also had a life where a serial killer took responsibility for her death.

In each instance the victims were chosen because of who they were. None of the victims were famous.

Perhaps consider the following.
If we are indeed spiritual beings inhabiting an earthly body while we are here. Then what reason would there be for us, while we are in the spiritual realm, to obey the flow of time as it exists here?

As spirits, perhaps we are at liberty to choose to live one life being born in 2153 and the next in 1792 with the one after that being 2001. So for us, here and now, trying to figure out whether a past life from 1945 was more recent than one from 633 could be a rather useless exercise.

There is one thing that does tend to happen however. It seems like the past lives recalled spontaneously by young children often seem to be associated with a life cut short and often in a traumatic way. So it is like the spirit is left dealing with baggage.

It's like having your Star Tours ride cut short at Disneyland.

For me, these comments ring true.

On another note and in my "baby book" recently given to me by Mom, she had written an account of my repeated comment at 20 months of age when my sister was born... "We're all together again!" When she asked "who was all together again?" I replied "All of us! We're together again!" I have no idea of what lifetime we may have been together before, but it seems clear, given my current knowledge of the other three members of my nuclear family as soulmates, that it happened sometime.

Much has been said about the "arrow of time" and whether it travels from future to past as well as from past to present. People who claim to have traveled to the other side often remark that the concept of time on the other side doesn't exist as we perceive it here, which leaves us to speculate whether Reincarnation necessarily follows a path of consecutive lives from past to present. And, given the growing awareness of quantum physics, many people have begun to question not only the reality of our physical existence, but also the reality of time, itself.

While I consider such reasoning and speculation to be an extremely healthy endeavor, and necessary for the advancement of intellectual pursuit; I also tend to believe that Reincarnation may not be as mysterious and complicated a process as we often make it out to be. The reason for this is quite simple, because the best documented cases involving Reincarnation seem to describe consecutive lives which move overwhelmingly from past to present.

To keep it short, lol, I think the illusion of linear time is necessary for the existence of conciseness and particularly it's evolution towards maturity.

And then on the flip side, I think that, with regards to physics, it's impossible to be born at various points throughout history, except in short hops into the past.

So I think there's both practical and spiritual reasons for consecutive lives.

I do not think the most current will surface as there are triggers in the child's homework, or on TV or books that might bring about memories that may not be recent. In my case when I was a kid I had faint, little pieces of memories far older than the one of which, 50-years later I realized my most recent level of past life.

As for time and space. They are integral part of the fabric of this illusion we call "existence", at the higher realms there is no time but I do not think, personally that one can incarnate backwards in time. So, when we fall of the wheel of karma then time and space will no longer matter, also we will not incarnate again, but before that we need to obey the illusion of time and space and matter.....
