The Root Chakra

In his book The Heart of the Soul, Gary Zukav explains something that seemed really interesting to me. The Chakra’s are our energy centres. It is through these centres that our energy flows, and from these centres we emanate energy. When an energy centre is ‘blocked’, or – as Zukav states – the energy leaves this centre in fear and doubt, we feel uncomfortable in one way or another.

The root Chakra

This centre connects you with the Earth. It connects you with the Earth, like the Crown Chakra connects you with the Immaterial Universe. Like a tree that reaches out to heaven as well as to Earth, your energy system is rooted in the Immaterial Universe as well as in the energy of the Earth. When energy leaves this centre in love and confidence, you feel at home on Earth. She feeds you: just like the trees that are connected with her through their roots. You are grounded.
When energy leaves this centre in fear and doubt, you don’t feel at home on Earth. Everything becomes a threat. You are not only afraid of the darkness of the night and falling rocks. In fact your whole life frightens you because you feel you don’t belong here. You have the feeling that your true home is in Higher Regions. You think that your being on Earth is only an unfortunate coincidence. When you release energy from this centre in fear and doubt you cannot learn what you need to learn as long as you are here.
Despite the fact that you feel uneasy with your life on Earth, you can enjoy for instance a waterfall, a mountain or a wood. But it is very difficult for you to relax, you don’t feel at easy in daily life. The sensation of vulnerability is dominating, wherever you are. Below this uneasiness a terror is hiding : the horror of Living. This is very painful.

Exercise :

Take every day a few minutes to feel peacefully your appreciation and gratitude for Earth. Stand, sit or lay on the Earth, the grass, the ground or the floor. Permit yourself to be carried in Earth’s womb en be cherished. Let Earth cherish you at least five minutes. Dedicate yourself to her during a few minues every day This is sacred time.

When energy leaves this centre in love and confidence, you are not afraid to live. You are rooted in and being fed by your experiences. You grow like a tree, you reach out to Heaven and are rooted in the Earth. You see the rythm of the Earth, the transitions to Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – back in your own life. You feel at home.
The first step towards change you make when you recognise that your longing to be somewhere else and your wish to ‘go home’ are emotions that are caused when through this centre energy is released in fear and doubt. When you recognise this, you are no longer at the mercy of these emotions

Since people that come here, often post that they feel they don’t belong in this time and place, I thought this information might be useful.

Personally I find the comparison of a person with a tree very beautiful. Rooted in the Earth but reaching out his arms to Heaven….:);)

Thanks Eevee for that post

I like the comparison with the tree too -

as a colour therapist I deal a lot with the chakras and the root chakra is one which is often over looked - a lot of people focus on the solar plexus or on the crown chakra without taking the vital and just as important root chakra into consideration.

I studied the chakras a little bit in the past and had an evaluation done on myself - granted, i doubt it was done by a professional. However, it did state that my root chakra was the weakest of mine by far. This is also the area of my body that I have had physical problems with for all of my adult life. However, I never got any direction on how I could "improve" this chakra and what was posted above might help me out. :)

Eevee, thank you for this thread. I found this technique to improve the root chakra: http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/openroot.php I did the chakra openness test on the same site and my root chakra is by far the worst. I don't know how good the test is since I never did this before, but it sure feels correct. What you wrote in the first post is how I feel about being on Earth. : angel I felt like that for a very long time. I just figured that out the other day and I realized that I need to start appreciating material/physical more.: angel
