I found an interesting note regarding Edgar Cayce and where his information "came from."

According to Gina Cerminara -- a psychologist, it had to do with what the readings called the "Akashic Records" -- but Cayce spelled out the term Akasha which is a Sanskrit word that refers to the fundamental etheric substance of the universe, electro-spiritual in composition.

Within the Akasha there is an indelible record of every sound, light, movement, or thought since the beginning of the manifest Universe. The ancients understood that the ability to 'read" these vibratory records lies inherent within each of us, depending on the sensitivity of the individual, and can be available to us if we learn to "fine tune" our consciousness.

It was by way of these "records" that Cayce could "see" the past lives of others.

Further Information

A friend of mine wrote to me regarding this thread. I thought it was well said and an interesting understanding of the concepts. I am sure he would want me to share it.

In Hinduism the akasha is also known as the 5th, and most subtle element of space or ether, besides the elements of earth, water, fire, and air.
I have been aware of someone that is aware of things that they have no possible way of knowing about except by reading the akasha records. I know this because they read my records and revealed part of them to me with a direct, telepathic link.

The process was similar to the way our minds eye can see and trace back parts of the "images" which have passed before it in this life. We often do this by ourselves in a subjectively identified way.

But the Master can use his minds eye to see, trace and view objectively those same images and all the other images that are inside of us, including those we have long ago forgotten or blocked out.

It is not so easy at first to realize that someone else can see your private and or secret thoughts as plain as day,for nothing is hidden from them. Only a very pure and compassionate soul is given such complete power of vision into the mind, heart and soul of another, for it is an unbreakable and sacred trust used to help another.

Many people may experience or give to others flashes of insight which include partial images and or meanings, but I believe that only an exceedingly rare and small number of exceptional souls are given the full power of what you speak of regarding the akasha; for it entails that a soul be trusted, proven and empowered by the Holy Spirit in a very deep and total way which is normally far beyond 99% of the "new age" stuff that is going on now.
