What does this mean to his current life?

Hello - I found this forum because of continual strange goings on with my son. It started when he was about 18 mos. old and we were house hunting in Tennesee. As soon as I got him out of the car he went to the edge of a hill pointing across the valley and saying 'Help, help'. He couldn't tell me more, because at the time he was not speaking yet, only a few sounds. I picked him up and he kept on calling for help. I even called my husband over and asked what he thought was wrong. It was very strange, only to get stranger. After we looked around the property for a while we went inside the house. When we asked the man why he had decided to sell at this point after renting the place for so long, he told us he'd recently lost his renter and didn't want to be bothered anymore. She was a young woman who lived alone and apparently died alone unexpectedly of brain cancer a few months earlier. That was the start of what I'll call some rather strange happenings. When Georgie was little we called him the Oracle because we'd be having a conversation and say (for example), "Do you think Kathy will take the new job?" and a little voice from the backseat would respond, “Nope!” and he was right most of the time. That has eased off now – our fault, he didn’t like being called “the Oracle”. We’d jokingly say, “Ask the Oracle” and he’s say, “I not Oracle!” so we stopped.

Lately though, he’s started telling us about past lives. It started one afternoon about 6 mos ago when he was playing with a firetruck. I said, “Do you want to be a firefighter when you grow up?” He said, “No, I was fire fighter last time and a boat driver before that – I want to be a boat driver again”. Lately it’s been, “I’m sad. I miss my old family”. I’ve tried to get details without pushing or acting weird about it, but he sometimes mixes obviously current stories in with his memories. He told me that he had lots of brothers and sisters and that his brother Tom took care of him after his family died in a fire. We’ve recently had lightening storms, and it seems that this must be how the fire started, as he is very afraid of the storms and keeps asking if the lightening will burn the house down. He seems to be telling us about several lives at once and none of the things he’s telling us are from TV or movies, with the exception of when he is pressed for too many details he adds things from his current memory, such as “My brother Tom used to sing “Little Mr. Roo” to me”, which is a song from a recent movie. And while he brother may have sung to him, it was probably not this song.

It is very clear when he is involved in his memories, he sits quietly, looking sad and then says something like, “ I miss my old house” or Mommy or family. I never anticipated this kind of behavior and did not bring it on because I wouldn’t have believed it, had I not seen and heard it myself. I’m here because I wonder what bearing it has on his current life? Does it matter? Is it important? Do I need to do something with it or about it?

Welcome to the forum Geosmom,

Your question is a very interesting one, and important. It seems that more and more children are remembering, and the level of importance - on how to integrate their memories with the here and now vary. Some children need to heal from trauma, while others remember a loving family they miss. How old is your son now? Does your son seem like his memories are disturbing to him? Is he fearful of what happened to him last time Like when he cried for "help"? Or is it as if someone else needed help?

Have you read through the Four Signs of Children's past life memories -(A thread at the top of this section) and have you read either or both of Carol's books?

I would recommend that you start a journal and record everything he says - regarding his past life (lives). Sometimes it takes a while to put the pieces together and figure out - exactly what it is a child needs - when they are remembering.

Hi GeosMom,

Welcome to the forum! Thank you for sharing Georgie's story with us. He sounds like a wonderful little boy :D Deborah has given you some great advice. Carol's books are excellent and I would definitely recommend reading them.

Good luck, and please keep us posted on Georgie's memories :)

Our past lives definitely have a bearing on our present life. But I don't think memories of past lives add to that bearing significantly. I think we must live our current lives as if they are a fresh start. My daughter used to become sad and emotional when she remembered her past lives. All I did was comfort her at that time. She stopped remembering soon after. That he remembers his past lives is nothing to worry about.

Trouble Sleeping

Hi - I've been having some difficulty replying in the forum, and I was also reluctant to post again because I thought I may have been reading too much into the latest thing with Georgie. Oh and first to answer for anyone reading the thread - Deborah asked a couple of questions: Georgie was 3 in April and at the incident in TN when he was 18 mos, it seemed more like he was picking up on someone else's energy (but maybe I just assume that because of the story I heard after the fact) - it was very strange anyway and doesn't seem to be related to the current situation.

So I talked to Georgie on the phone on his way to visit his Nana. He was very excited about the trip and told me, "I'm going to see my real mother". I told him he was going to see Nana and that I am his real mother. He told me, "No Mama, you're my GOD mother. I'm going to see my REAL mother". I said, no you're going to see Nana - and I'm really your real mother! He paused for a moment and then said, "Okay, then I'm going to see my REAL Daddy". I didn't know what to say anymore, but didn't want him to be disappointed that he wasn't going to see anyone but Nana. So I said to him gently, "Honey, you're going to Nana's house - to visit Nana and Auntie Laura". and I think he understood at that point. I don't know, but maybe his grandmother lived with his "real mommy and daddy", so he assumed he would see them too? Very confusing, since he we have been preparing him for the trip for weeks.

And then I just wrote off the incident above thinking it was just kid fancy. Until last night when he woke crying, wanting his "real mommy" again. My husband could not convince or console him that he was home with his real Mommy - and I heard my husband say as he brought him back to bed, "I AM your real father Georgie"...

He seems to be missing his "old family" more and more - and maybe the disappointment of not seeing them when he was expecting he would has gotten him upset.

How difficult and upsetting for you, to be told you aren't his "real" parents. :( Have you tried pointing out to him that you are his real parents in this life? That his other parents were his real parents in another life? Sometimes when they start thinking about their past lives, they become a little confused. Time isn't as clear-cut to children as it is to adults. It could be a relief to him (and to you ;) ) to point out that he is remembering something that happened a long time ago, and remembering people he was close to before coming into this life.

On the point of his nana, perhaps she was his mother in a past life. :) It's not uncommon to discover that loved ones have shared lives in the past before this one. :)

Thanks for having the courage to post you story. It's not always easy to come out and tell about these things. :)

I'm ok with not being his "real Mommy"

Unless, of course he likes her more :) Just Kidding!

The only thing that is upsetting to me is that he is upset - disturbed by these memories. I'm waiting to see if he remembers anything this morning...

I'm glad to hear you are taking it in stride. I know many people who would've been very upset if that happened to them.

Just acknowledging the memories may help him sort it all out, along with reminders that he is in a new life now. Do you think maybe he's looking for some sort of closure on that life? Maybe there's something that he needs to do or acknowledge to help him let go.
