Clothing

Just thought of a weird thing I do haha
When I’m home (and not planning on going out somewhere) I like to wear baggy sweat pants and I put long socks on, but I’ll specifically pull the socks over the sweats. I don’t know why I do that but now I realize I do that every time.

Might be nothing though

Hi Serene-owl.

I'd be curious to know your suspicions and if they have any resonance for your dislike for dress shirts and ties?

A Free State Generals reproduction uniform is 390 euro tanker. I just can't justify the expense to myself.

During WWI we put our socks over the pantlegs to make it easier to wrap the putties over our legs otherwise it was a pain to wrap
During WWII you NEVER placed your socks over your pantslegs in the US military, especially not during basic training

Exactly tanker. Something overlaid on my present form. Even if you look at the last photo from my last life further up the thread you can see how relaxed yet alert I sat. I'm in the back of the car on the left. I sit the same way in my current life. I was always getting into trouble in school for sitting like that. They wanted the bum in the back. I felt more in control sitting as I did though.

I often feel I don't fit properly in this small body. My limbs always look weird on photographs like a bigger person is squeezed into a smaller person's body. Everytime I look in the mirror I see myself a couple of inches higher, and then realise I'm lower down. In my visions of my past self I feel almost an excruciating pain when I see how my body once was. I don't associate myself with this body at all, and often have a floating out of body feeling when I look at it. Pretty much in denial I'm living at all half the time.

Anyway have to say this thread is very interesting. Nice to see all the uniforms. Thing is now I'm about the average height of Victor Charlie, and if I was now in Nam they'd send me down all the tunnels. Lucky me!

Hmmm I’m not quite sure why I do it then, if it even has to do with something related to a PL.

I'm the same gender, height and build as my last life landsend so I've never felt such issues about being in a different body. I can't imagine how that feels.

I can sort of relate to that. Only being that I’m way taller than most of my family members and feel out of place. I feel like a tree compared to them.

I can relate CanSol although I never fought in either world wars. I find that strange since my soul is attracted to conflict like a moth to a flame it seems.

Hi again tanker. This is off topic but just now I had another experience of ghosts permeating my every nuance.

I've never read Collins speeches. I've never seen a reenactment of one until a few minutes ago ( except for the film ).

I said to a powerful politician who vowed to destroy me once:

"Your supposed to be a public servant ye little shyte ye. Elected by the people for the people. Well I am the people and I'm telling ye now! Pick up your rattle and get back in your pram!"

A few minutes ago I came across this reenactment:

Its was like a slap in the face hearing my sentiments echoed back to me when the Collins reenacter talks of the people. I resent my destiny. I resent the monkeys on my back. I much preferred being just Jim.

It feels like you might imagine it would feel if you woke up tomorrow in someone else’s body but realised internally you are still you, yet the picture in the mirror isn’t you and everyone seems to see this other person. No one sees you. A prisoner. In short it makes me want to depart my mortal coil ASAP. Unfortunately having dependants makes that difficult.

That's something I can understand landsend. I feel like a prisoner of my own nature at times too.

When I try to talk about an issue relating to my past life people realise I'm talking about an icon:

That's all they see. An icon and me looking differently talking about the impact of being Collins. Even my best friend just sees the 'action hero' iconography of Collins and can't relate that to the man sitting in front of him with a different face and an ability to compromise ( which I had as Collins too but it doesn't fit my friends view on him ).

Sometimes I yearn to depart this mortal coil too, just so that I can meet my friends and family on the other side of the veil, where the 'icons' of Earth don't matter and I can freely express and deal with the impact of that life without peoples preconceptions.

In my mind I'm as much Collins as I am Jim....there's no difference to me, but I don't have Collins iconic visage so nobody in my real life understands the impact and trauma of being him. Its the burden hardest to bare.

In that sense I feel that my body doesn't express who I am at my core so now that you've explained it I can relate. My current life body is an inconvenience to me.

I, too, am in a different body than my last one. In the past life I remember best, I was petite in stature. In this life, I'm 6'2 and overweight. Thankfully, I'm the same gender, but I keep longing to be shorter and thinner. The thinner part, I can work on. But, I'm stuck with the height.

If I chose this body, this life, I'd love to learn why. Maybe, I wanted to be taller. But, I'm too tall! If I had no say in the matter, I'd still love to know why it's this body!

It makes wearing fashions from my past life much harder, as most of the standard reproduction dresses [and the proper vintage ones] are a little too short in the skirt and come above my knee. Not really considered appropriate. At least, I can make do with the tomboy styles of today. They allow for enough mobility and comfort.

I actually don't think this threads gone off topic. In a spiritual sense our bodies are mere clothing so its on point IMO.

I wish I was six foot two Yvette. In all of my remembered lives I was under six foot. Not a good thing for a chap who always wanted to be the biggest man in the room.

Im ok with your current shell too Alex. I love darker women. Blonde haired Scandanavians never did it for me

The thing is though that, perhaps, in that environment the Collins personality will appear as a grain of sand in an enormous expanse of dunes given all the other soul-lifetimes.

I agree Ken. Collins will most likely be like one foolish night in a string of foolish nights and that would suit me perfectly...because I could express Collins freely, without restraint, just as reincarnationists will be able to express their past lives freely, without judgement and ridicule.

It does sound like Heaven doesn't it?

I feel all of these things constantly. Who I once was is still a major part of who I am now, but trying to express that also serves to undermine it by bringing in pre-conceived notions about the subjects in question. Looking different is strange to get over, too. In my mind, I look much the same as I used to and do not always recognize the person in the mirror.

Jim, perhaps having foreign friends would help. They would be less likely to know much about Collins, so you might be more likely to be able to explore personal impacts much more easily.

Yeah Spirit Sword. Even by mentioning Collins I am undermining my own personal experiences...because of who he is. No real, objective reason for it.

The only foreign people I know who believe in reincarnation and weren't aware of Collins are on this board. I feel comfortable talking about Collins here because it doesn't have the same impact here as claiming your are Marilyn Monroe or Che Guevara. Its just another past life claim...but you know yourself...sometimes all a man needs is an empathic look or a little physical comfort and that's something this board can't provide.

To you people, saying I'm Collins would produce a much appreciated shrug but to my friends and family....the people I love and want to believe me...it produces incredulity. I've never found that comforting or helpful.

Well, yeah... I didn't even know who Collins was when you mentioned him, Jim. From all your PLs, only one was known to me. The others I had to look up, including Collins. Seems to be more of a country thing. But even if I had heard of Collins, I would be aware of the fact that "common knowledge" about historical figures, more often than not, is hopelessly exaggerated and that historical figures aren't portrayed as they really were, but shown as much "better" or "worse".

I hope it isn't too impolite or would be misunderstood, but after a loooong search I finally found some image I wish to show here. Closest thing to what I had in mind that I could find. Everything else... either hated the trousers, the shoes or the hat which were also shown. I am not much into crossdressing normally, but I wish I could wear something like that beautiful outfit on the image below. Did I ever wear something like that? Or have I seen it on somebody else? Anyway, isn't that beautiful?

I’m 5’ 8 in this life, not too tall, but taller than most women in my family. I think I might still be growing too.
I couldn’t tell how tall the man was from the vision I had, but he didn’t seem to be short. Maybe if and when I remember more memories, I’ll be able to tell.

Hi SeekerOfKnowledge.

Collins is only known in the British Isles and to guerilla revolutionaries so I'm not surprised you hadn't heard of him. Even the Hollywood film was unsuccessful worldwide ( although it was only bested by Titanic in Ireland ).

I was cast in the television show The Tudors in something similar to your pictures years ago. Although the top was grey and buttoned at the front. The tights didn't exactly make me feel manly either.

Must have been an interesting experience, that cast. From that "Tudor" clothing, I love the embroidered doublets, but I hate these poofy trousers... I also do not like the shoes so much, boots are OK, though.
I don't see anything unmanly in wearing "tights". Unless you wear modern style women's tights.

It was interesting SeekerOfKnowledge but I'm wouldn't do it again. I don't like hierarchial structures, I believe in communal endeavours.

The boots were crap. No insoles. The stars got insoles but not the commoners.I could feel every pebble I stepped on all day.
